A tale of two Princeton’s... 18 or 19 years separate these two amps: Top: 1946/1947 #Fender #Princeton “#Woodie”. . Bottom: 1965 #PrincetonReverb. . The 1x10 cabinet on the left is temporarily serving as the speaker for the woodie until I can arrange to get the original #Jensen #FieldCoil #speaker rewound. My amp tech @marshalllespaulfan cleverly added a speaker jack with 4, 8 and 16 ohm outputs so I can choose from a variety of external cabs to pump my little Princeton through in the meantime. This cab came with my 4 watt #Mack #Gem #amp and is loaded with an 8 ohm 10” #Eminence #RaginCajun speaker. . . #guitar #guitars #amplifiers #vintageguitars #vintageamps #fenderamp #tone #guitargear #guitarsdaily #guitarsofinstagram #geartalk #guitarsdaily #fendersofinstagram #guitarphotography #ampphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/BuegrvzBfKo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=psr3z20306y8
Have you seen Junior's grades? 1961 #Gibson #LesPaul #SG Junior, with #vintage #Fender #amps (and a contemporary 1 watt #Marshall #JTM1 and a made-in-Toronto #Mack #Gem & 1 x 10 cabinet) sitting on @atlasstands #amp stands. And #ToneHenge™ is thrown into utter disaray yet AGAIN for the simple reason that this idiot can't just leave anything well enough alone! What a tool. 😄😅😆 #Gear = #Guitars: 2009 #Gibson #ES339 (on amp), '65 #SG Special (white, on rack at right), '66 #Fender #Musicmaster II, '97 #Rickenbacker #360, '09 #CustomShop #LesPaul Special #VOS, '06 #FenderCustomShop '60 #Stratocaster #Relic. #Amps: 2011 #Mack #Gem (partially visible behind chair at left), 2012 #Marshall JTM1, 1963 Fender #DeluxeReverb (big Blackface, left), '65 #Vibrolux Reverb (big #Blackface, right), and '57 #Champ (#tweed, front left). There's so much to talk about in this photo. Foremost is the #sunburst 2009 #Gibson #ES339. This #guitar is one of the best playing #guitars I gave ever owned but sadly gets forgotten about all too often. The #amp is a #Mack #Gem 4/0.4 watt and matching #cabinet by Mack #Amplification of #Toronto. Also in this shot are 1) my concrete pear (left) with mini #LesPaul #Standard (courtesy of @rpcc2!), 2) my glass cupcake and mini #Stratocaster (courtesy of @frenziedsilence!), and 3) a stone sculpture called "egg with legs" (right)! Photo taken with my #Nikon #D750, and a #Nikkor 28 - 70mm f2.8 lens courtesy of Mark at @folkwaymusic who lent me this fantastic #lens to play around with. Now THAT is what I call a full service #guitarshop! ;) #guitarphotography #gibsonguitar #guitarcollection #semihollow #es335
Anyone out there remember the McDonald's advertising campaign from the early 80s called the "Big Mac Attack"? The idea was that people would crave a Big Mac soooo much that they'd drop whatever they were doing at the time (driving their car, sitting in school, performing brain surgery etc.), and make a beeline to the nearest McD's and stuff their gobs with one (or more...) Big Macs. I'm not sure if the Big Mac Attack made it into the ICD-10, but it probably should have - if you believed the adverts, it was a pretty big health problem back then! Well, this is my 4/0.4 watt #Mack #Amplifiers #Gem #head with matching #cabinet (underneath the 1968 #Fender #VibroChamp). I like to think of it as a "Small Mack Attack". Ba-dum! Thank you ladies and germs! <crickets chirping...tumble weed rolls through frame>. Is this thing on?? Wow. That was a HUGE setup for VERY little payoff... :D #guitar #guitars #guitarphotography #amp #amps #fenderamp #vintageamp #silverface #dripedge #

So many people have been asking about my cute and crazy little 4 watt #Mack "#Gem" #amplifier. I busted it out of hibernation last week when most of my main #amps (including the 1968 #Fender #VibroChamp the Gem is sitting on top of here!) were out being used for my friend Sean's album cover photoshoot, and I enjoyed playing it so much that even after my other amps came back I have kept it in the lineup. The Mack #Amp company is located here in #Toronto and the Gem and its successor with more gain, the #Gem2G, are one of the most interesting and aesthetically pleasing small #amp designs I have ever seen. It can be stepped down to 0.4 watts as well which I like a lot too. Pictured here with my 2005 #CustomShop '66 #Stratocaster #ClosetClassic (and 1966 #Gibson #ES330, partially visible on the left). #guitar #guitars #mackamps #fenderamp #vintageamp #vintageguitar #vintagegibson #vintagefender #guitarphotography
Another partial view of #ToneHenge Mark II. After my #vintage #Fender #amps were loaned out earlier this week I started using this 4 watt #Mack #Gem for the first time in a while and liked it so much I decided to integrate it full time into my setup. At the moment it is running in stereo with my '65 #Vibrolux. The silverface '68 #VibroChamp might be a bit too precariously perched on the Mack cabinet, but I'll figure out these details in the next few days... ;) Ric, my helper-turtle is still getting used to the new "#stack"! :D #amps #vintageamps #fender #fenderamps #vintagefender #guitar #guitars #guitarphotography
Hallelujah! ToneHenge is REBORN! :D Thanks to @seanpinchin for taking such good care of the objects I hold dearer than my own children (although it should be noted that I do not have any children. That I know of...). I hope they'll look great on the cover of your new record! Also of note: I had such fun using the #Mack #Gem 4 watt #amp while my #vintage #Fender #amps were away that I have actually incorporated it into #ToneHenge Mark II (on top of the silverface #VibroCamp, right) #vintageguitars #guitars #gibson #fenderguitars #gibsonguitar #guitarphotography #es335 #sg #telecaster #stratocaster #jaguar #mustang #guitarcollection
A closer look at the made-in-#Toronto #Mack #Amps "#Gem" 4 watt #amplifier head. Other than superb visual design of this little...er...gem...it's also switchable from 4 watts to 0.4 #watts, and the #preamp stage can be run in series or parallel (note: I have absolutely no idea what that means...but it sure sounds cool!). Also, due to the "#plexi" front you can see all the #tubes glowing when you turn out the lights. It's almost romantic...like heavy metal candlelight! :D #amp #amps #mackamps #amplifier #tubeamp #valveamp #guitar #guitars #guitarphotography
"You are witnesses at the birth of #Tonehenge Mark II. Hope you like our new direction. That's #DerekSmalls on the #bass...he wrote this" - D. St. Hubbins. You know what? Loaning out ToneHenge for @seanpinchin's album cover photoshoot has been kind of a blessing in disguise! I have rediscovered my #Mack #Gem, this cute little 4/0.4 #watt switchable #head and #cabinet. Between the #vintage #Vibrolux, '57 #Champ and #dripedge #Vibrochamp, I haven't played this #amp in a LONG time, but it's really great! And made right here in #Toronto too!
