Determined Apathy

@determinedapathy / determinedapathy.tumblr.com

I'm old enough to remember the '90s and my blog is only 5% original content by volume.

Im sorry but it is so funny how people outside of tumblr view us. Like why are the tiktokers treating tumblr like some professional ass website you need to do extensive prep before you begin posting on. And the follower farming advice is so fucking funny to me when this is the website where people actively hate getting new followers

this is problematic of me (joke) but i really enjoy the splashing of french into english speech or writing. just adds a pizzazz

*adds a certain je ne sais quoi

see the problem is that despite around 8 years of french schooling the french language has utterly escaped my brain so even the most obvious set up i had created for myself by accident was missed by me. such is life.

*c'est la vie

god damn it

I used to be 21 but now I'm 24. so you can understand why I'm so freaked out

buddy I was in this situation and then next thing I knew I was 27. watch out man

a couple of months ago I woke up and somehow I was 40?? clearly there's something going around, so please be careful

Still feels weird that the same band made "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" and "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)"

It's like if Smash Mouth and Fall Out Boy were one band.

The Offspring are honestly a contender for the funniest punk band ever, made even funnier by the fact that Dexter Holland is pushing 60 now and has a PhD in virology.

Like imagine being on an academic committee and reviewing a dissertation on HIV protein-encoding genomes and it's from a guy with frosted tips whose greatest legacy is the Crazy Taxi soundtrack.

That's the Offspring.

The hook from "Come Out And Play" was created because Dexter Holland was doing lab work and did, in fact, have to keep certain petri dishes separated while disinfecting them. So he kept saying "gotta keep 'em separated" to himself while working, and it stuck in his head so badly that it made it into the song.

A role model for all of us indecisive people who want to do and try anything and everything.

He also has his own line of hot sauces, called Gringo Bandito.

Oh yeah this the ONE!!

I make $18/hr and yes. It's poverty wages.

"But like... that's like so much more money than I make. Stop complaining."

No.

I won't stop complaining.

Just because your poverty wages are worse than my poverty wages doesn't mean that I don't have the right to be mad about my poverty wages. In many parts of the country you can't even afford an apartment at $20/hr. Including where I live.

Not to mention the cost of medication for my disabled ass. Every wage looks a hell of a lot different if you have to spend hundreds to thousands a month on your life saving medication.

Minimum wage should be $30/hr. Period.

Minimum wage should scale with the cost of living for an area actually. In places where the cost of living is astronomical, even $30 an hour wouldn't cut it. In San Francisco, a true living wage would be closer to $70 an hour. It would be a major incentive to regulate prices on damn near everything, but housing especially, because companies definitely don't want to shell out that much in wages.

[ID: a tweet from @1anjohn that says: $15 an hour is poverty and I think we need to say that loudly because right now companies use it as a badge of honor]

It's only too late if you're dead, and you are not dead.

That was the intended subtext yeah, but it's important to remember it for other things too. New hobbies, learning languages, new careers, writing that book, asking out that cute person, etc. There is time. You cannot be too late so long as you still draw breath.
