Hey Jhonen. I hope this isn't too personal to ask about, but I was reading through Nny's Twitter and noticed a tweet that said he's Mexican. I'm Mexican as well, so this piqued my interest. Did yourself being Mexican lead to you applying that to Johnny as well, and if so what's the reason behind that? Or did it really have nothing to do with that at all? I'd be curious to know.
In most cases I wouldn’t say I apply it in any conscious way, but yeah, I’m a thing so a lot of my characters are also that thing. Johnny’s Mexican but it’s never played into WHO he is. What he is is just what he is but there hasn’t been any temptation to have him announce it. Same goes for Dib and Gaz and their dad (pasty Mexicans like my brother and his so-white-looking Village of the Damned children), or Squee (white and Filipino like a lot of my friends growing up), or ZIM, who is IRKEN, but you don’t see him…wait…okay, ZIM’s maybe the exception to my characters telling you who and what they are.

so embarrassing to get obsessed with your own oc but it doesn't fuel you creatively or motivate you at all you just sort of sit there. like yeah I've been thinking a lot about blorbo from my mind. no images of them exist in the world and they have maybe 3 personality traits so far.
