Its humbling to remember that I, too, can be the weirdo who misunderstood op and got too worked up about it. One only achieves Buddhahood when one realizes that anyone can be the weirdo who misunderstood op and got too worked up about it

What so everyone's a weirdo huh? You're calling everyone who isn't you a big weirdo huh? That's what you're doin? Huh? Think you're better than me? Is that it? Huh?

Oh. I understand everything now.

Happy International Asexuality Day!! Shoutout to all of my self-shippers on the asexual spectrum!!! 💜✨

my mum has severe knee problems and needs a replacement. Today she was told she's too fat to be operated on and the knee specialist suggested she gets a gastric band - which also involves surgery. So my mum was like first of all you didn't read my file because it explains that I'm not fat because I eat too much second of all you said it's impossible for me to get surgery and then suggested I get a surgery about it? He then asked her her weight and height, didn't believe her answer, and made her prove it to him because she "looks fatter than that". So she was like so you also just entirely based this on looks instead of actual numbers?

My mom went through something similar. She needed a knee replacement and her doctor wouldn’t okay it until she lost weight, which was difficult given the whole knee problem preventing her from walking thing. He told her she was too dangerous to operate on and that there were just too many risks.

My mom tried to lose weight in vain for months before she finally gave into my begging her to get a second opinion. The first doctor she saw next scheduled her for surgery the same day she met him. When my mom asked about the risk of operating on her he told her that there was some minor risks for complication and that all she would need to do to alleviate the risk was spend an extra night in the hospital so that they could keep a look out for any complications.

There were zero. There were also zero complications when she had her other knee done, her hip replaced and her gallbladder removed.

Almost like the first doctor was entirely full of shit and just trying to coerce his patient to lose weight by scaring her for fucking nothing, even when she was living day to day in excruciating pain and desperately needed a surgery.

i beat myself up for not knowing enough about my special interests a lot but then i remember the average person off the street has no idea what the carboniferous is and i feel better

are you really bad at it or are you in "good at it" spaces

Me: ah shit, I misidentified that yellow rumped warbler as a female goldfinch, I should literally be hung at the gallows for this. I'm such an IDIOT

My friend, pointing at a vulture: check out that fucked up crow lol

that muppet post reminded me, most if not all of the main muppets have twitter pages. Fav has gotta be Miss Piggys, which is filled with selfies and vaguely uplifting text thats also egocentric. all the comments are people complimenting her and being like “YAS QUEEN”

Close second is Gonzos. Which is just…unhinged

also gonna be evil and ask for BOTH big bang wips muahahahaaaaa happy wip weekend 💪💕✨

Alrighty, two secret snips:

And an extra long snip of 👨‍🍳 for both, continued from (x)

Mike looked ready to protest, but Steve knew protesting would just make him seem insecure, which was the last thing Mike Wheeler would ever want to be in front of Steve Harrington. Instead, the boy sniffed, and straightened up, a serious mask dropping over his face. He could tell it was wobbly, though — Mike wasn’t exactly used to hiding his emotions the way Steve had grown up doing, like the facade was a second skin instead of just a mask. “Well, fine, I guess Robin can stay.” He crossed his arms, like he was the authority on the matter, and Steve caught Robin’s eye above his head. She winked at him, gesturing a quick “OK” with her hands before walking over to the island and sitting down next to the rest of the twerps. “What are we making, again?” Robin asked as she slumped in the seat, hand catching her chin in a cradle. “Koogle,” Mike answered. “It’s Kugel.” “Whatever.”

Just a reminder that it is not your vet’s job to report if your pet got into recreational drugs. We aren’t snitches, we have no obligation to report drug use. We do, however, want to save your pet so please be honest with us about what your pet got into. It could literally be life and death for them.

i initially read this as a cat picking up a cocaine habit on the street and not being a narc about it before i realised you meant pets accidentally ingesting their owners drugs

on a similar note to that 'i think a lot of you guys forget people hate women' post; I think a lot of you guys forget how bad racism truly is and how deeply pervasive and entrenched antiblackness is.

whenever people say "you make everything about race/racism" i just want to say EVERYTHING IS ABOUT RACE/RACISM

the patriarchy, climate change, capitalism, MANY of the major issues we think about are inextricably linked to white supremacy and colonialism. so no you cannot be a racist feminist, you cannot be a climate activist and also be racist, we wont get queer liberation without black liberation. and vice versa. we arent moving from where we are as a society until you guys realize how deeply rooted in Everything racism and antiblackness is.

The National Park Service has edited a page on its website that describes the Underground Railroad to reduce the emphasis on Harriet Tubman, instead highlighting “Black/White cooperation.”
The Washington Post first reported the changes, noting that the government replaced a large portrait of Tubman as well as a quote at the top of the page where Tubman described herself as “the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years.” In place of Tubman’s portrait is a collage of five U.S. Postal Service stamps that depict Black and white abolitionist figures, including Tubman, who were involved in helping to bring escaped enslaved people to the north.

...

The opening lines of the page no longer mention slavery but call the Underground Railroad “one of the most significant expressions of the American civil rights movement.” It also states that the network “bridged the divides of race.”
