northern usa comes with a secret fifth season, between winter and spring. it’s called “Gross”. everything is muddy and dead. allergies are flaring up but there’s not a green leaf in sight. the landscape is littered with piles of dirty ice. snow rain mix is probably falling. gross.
This is an actual ecological season called prevernal spring, or false spring, when the plants start waking from dormancy, the snow and ice melts into mud to water the waking plants, and insect larva start growing so they can fly by the time flowers are ready to get pollinated, and the warm(er) days and icy nights help stress-proof the plants for the coming hot seasons. It is anticipatory, preparatory, and magical. And gross.
Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don’t know, that gaslight gatekeep girlboss meme, for instance, because you’re trying to tell the world that you think modern feminism has been co-opted by corporations. But what you don’t know is that that meme is not from Instagram, it's not from Twitter, it's not from Tiktok, it’s actually from Tumblr. You’re also blithely unaware of the fact that in January 2021, Tumblr user missnumber1111 posted, "today's agenda: gaslight gatekeep and most importantly girlboss." And then I think it was a-m-e-t-h-y-s-t-r-o-s-e, wasn’t it, who reblogged it with an image of the phrase edited over a piece of "Live, Laugh, Love" wall art? And then gaslight gatekeep girlboss showed up in the feeds of eight different Twitter repost accounts. Then it filtered down through Instagram and then trickled on down into some tragic “alt side of Tiktok” where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that meme represents millions of notes and countless Tumblr users and so it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from Tumblr when, in fact, you’re wearing the meme that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of “stuff.”

Luigi Mangione could be getting the death penalty…
This man is innocent, his appearance and build doesn’t match that of the killers, the only “motive” he had was a convenient written confession showing that he supposedly viewed healthcare companies as “parasitic” and too expensive (which does somewhat contradict the actual killers actions) he had said note and the murder weapon conveniently on him while living his ordinary life, the killer held the gun in his right hand while Luigi is left-handed, Luigi and the Killer were potentially seen simultaneously, they wore slightly different coats.
The NYPD KNOW these are different people, they know the evidence is lacking, this isn’t a mistaken identity, it’s framing, they are trying to make themself appear to still be control by catching this man, humiliating him, killing him, when they know full well that the person they are prosecuting ISNT EVEN THE RIGHT GUY! This is an injustice! This is not a fair trial! This is downright tyranny!
They confiscated his bag at the mcdonald's, took it out of everyone's sight, unpacked it and repacked it, and THEN took it down to the station and wow there was a manifesto in there that he was just carrying around in daily life for some reason
Definitely the sort of thing that the Bag Of Monopoly Money Guy would be carrying to McDonald's

What are dead man walking tornadoes? :O
it’s a multi-vortex tornado. i dont remember the tribe it originates from (i think it was cherokee), but there’s a native american legend…? saying? that goes “if you see a man in a tornado, you are about to die.”
the most infamous shot of a dead man walking tornado hit jarrell, texas in 1997
it did so much damage to the town it caused the scale that tornados are measured by, the fijita scale, undergo revisions, and it made anchoring buildings in the tornado alley region pretty much mandatory. (it took the entire town off the map. only those who had taken shelter outside of the town or in underground bunkers survived.)
two more examples of dead man walking tornadoes looking like a person are a tornado from 2011 that hit cullman, alabama
and a tornado from 1975 that hit xenia, ohio
edit: it has been brought to my attention that the native american “legend” part of this post was a rumor spread by a documentary.
i have been asked to remove it, but i believe in letting my errors stand because i’m not perfect. i make mistakes
also! the reason that jarrell was SO BAD wasn't JUST because of it being a multi-vortex tornado. the strongest tornadoes usually do have multiple vortices (el reno, for example) but jarrell was ESPECIALLY devastating because it was different than all the others: it was SLOW. not only that, but it had picked up so much shrapnel and debris that it SANDPAPERED anything it touched. it tore up asphalt that was THREE INCHES. anyone who was in their home stood no chance simply because it was LITERALLY STATIONARY FOR THREE MINUTES over the town of Jarrell. there are even records and pictures (though i personally have only ever seen the censored versions) that jarrell, before it hit the town, SKINNED THE FLESH OFF OF COWS. sometimes to the BONE. again, this was from the shrapnel it had picked up from a building (i forgot exactly what it was, though i think it was a recycling plant.) after absolutely devastating the town, it went to a forested area where it dissipated.
also, plenty of people who were in underground bunkers were still killed, i would like to point that out. many did survive, though!
heres jarrell later in its lifespan.
tornado damage surveyors sometimes couldnt even tell where a house once stood because there was almost NOTHING LEFT. remains of cattle and humans were in some cases almost identical. a lot of the victims, 27 in total, had to be identified via DENTAL RECORDS.
sorry for going on a tangent there, op! im super interested in tornadoes, and jarrell is one of the ones that i know a lot about just because of how bad it was. it was a terrible situation that never should have happened, and it was really bad because of how unnaturally slow it was and the fact that the path it took just so happened to be in the perfect spot for shrapnel.
“You tell yourself, ‘I want eggs,’ but explain to me what this ‘I’ is that you speak of? Can you point to it? Of course not. ‘I’ is a prison you’ve built for yourself. So long as you live within the ‘I,’ you live in a perpetual dream. Only when we dissolve this ‘I’ can we extinguish all of the terrible clinging and instead start living authentically in the realm of awakened life.” At press time, Trump had concluded by noting that it was thus that his Liberation Day tariffs were the path to freeing oneself from the karmic wheel of samsara.
