A year ago today, in the late afternoon for me, I just froze, spent what remained of the day in a daze. Our flag means death was all over news articles, socials & our hearts, then the news: cancelation. 

The 1st thing that had hit me about the show upon first watch had been the humor, simple but very distinctive, ridiculous but also fresh & funny. The 2nd thing had been the characters, so varied, many-sided, & each with their own voice & thing going on. The 3rd one - though I'd needed time to fully process it - the searches, against different rules and expectations, of the unapologetically true self & its right place to call home.

I looked back at all that & everything that followed, when teal & purple stopped being just colors, & puppets & cats took a whole new meaning. When hearing Kate Bush or Fleetwood Mac in public places would make me catch my breath, or birds at the beach made me smirk. When I took to read the Italian word ‘gusto’ in the wrong way, and ‘All we have is this one life, we have to try, don't we?'

Ofmd has been a source of joy, strength and friendships for me personally. I've been in awe of the creativity that has sparked from it, the community, a space for different shapes, colors, genders and ages that have 1 thing in common: they're beautiful just as they are. This remains despite the cancelation.

In the last year, between lots of clowning and some rewatches, I've fallen even more in love with our lunatic online crew, I've written (more) fics!… and I've let myself be gentler with aspects of myself that are a bit complicated, learning, embracing… loving them more. 

So come what may, I'll rest assured that #OurFlagMeansLove , and #OurFlagMeansUs .

yo hey US people who sent in absentee ballots, they are tossing mail-in ballots for no reason. i just had to call my county board of elections and demand a cure for my ballot because north carolina didn't send out any notices of issues with ballots, and the issues are fake. if you voted by mail-in make sure your ballot was actually counted

Check your ballot!

If your ballot was NOT counted or isn't listed on the tracking site yet, call your county clerk! Today! Right now! Their number will be available on your county's website or even on the tracking website for your state (mine was, not sure about other states)!

Phone calls suck but this is NOT something that you can use email for. Ballot curing when available has a time limit, usually 3-5 days after the election, so even if the tracking site says that it can take time to list your voter activity, calling and making sure is absolutely still worth it. Just remember to be polite and calm on the call.

My vote was NOT registered online yet so I called to find out, and I couldn't get through on the phone, so I had to email. You may have to use email. My office got back to me immediately via email. If you can't immediately get through on the phone, send an email and then go back to calling while you wait. They may be answering one avenue of contact faster than the other.
