carnists get so mad when you call them out on their cognitive dissonance. you're the one claiming to love animals while supporting their mistreatment, but you're mad at me for pointing it out? you're not mad at your own hypocrisy??

I love all handmade stuff, but before I started knitting, I always wondered why folks poured so much time and energy into making stuff that looks exacly like what youd buy at a store.

It very quickly hit me: store- bought stuff SUCKS. Handmade stuff RULES.

The kinds of stitches used, the thickness/ quality of yarn, even the dimensions of the item itself are just so shitty and cheap on mass- produced clothing. Once you know what youre looking at, you can see that its made to be worn and disposed of within a year. But that handmade brown sweater? That sucker weighs 3x what a store bought sweater weighs. Its softer, it has better stretch and even with messier seams, its STRONGER. It can survive a trathalon, a hop over a barbed- wire fence, and a minor nuclear explosion.

So hats off to all of the more stubtle fiberworks artists out there, your bulletproof crafts are magnificent.

Don’t smoke flower indoors unless you live there. Some people have asthma or don’t want the smell to linger.

Smoking at outside concert venues is fine. You’re at a concert. It’s outside. It’s expected and fine.

Smoking flower at an inside concert venue is rude. Hit a pen in the bathroom (EDIT 04/11: actually don’t do that just smoke in the parking lot or the car) or take an edible.

Smoking around people who don’t smoke but are okay with it is fine. They will not get high.

Smoking flower outside is fine.

Smoking flower in CROWDED outdoor public places is rude and inconsiderate.

If you’re in a group, ask before you smoke around them or in their car.

You cannot die from a cannabis overdose according to current research. You can’t get high from smelling weed. Smoking weed is fine and amazing. Smoking in general though requires some level of consideration for others in your building/25-50sqft area—not because it’s bad or wrong, but because some people don’t like the smell or have asthma.

I previously included a blanket statement that weed cannot kill you and replaced it with a clearer version of what I meant (as in you can’t OD from weed) BUT cannabis allergies exist and exposure to THC oils or flower can send someone into anaphylactic shock. This is another incredibly important reason not to smoke in closed off areas where strangers are present or in crowded outside areas. It’s just like how you wouldn’t start touching someone after eating a peanut butter sandwich until asking if they are allergic.

Ever since I was little, it seemed like common sense that animals are not below humans and that they should be referred to as he/she rather than as "it." Even if you don't know the sex of the animal, it feel more intuitively right to make a guess and just use one of those pronouns. Objects are "its", and animals are sentient beings, not objects.

This is not a big deal in itself, but I do think that the way we refer to animals says a lot about the way we see them, and it's no wonder that humans often view animals as nothing more than property and "things" that exist for their entertainment, like a boat or a dirt bike.
