She/They, 32 General nerd. I post lots of different stuff. Always up to talk!

Speaking of videogames I know this one is an unpopular hot take but I actually think the majority of people who are outraged at Switch 2 pricing are being very silly.

I don't know why in a world where eggs cost 20 dollars for 1.5 dozen (a REAL price I saw at the CHEAPEST store a few weeks ago) anyone would think that something as luxury as videogames aren't going to also be dramatically affected by absurdly high pricing.

I am not buying the Switch 2. I cannot afford it, and to be completely honest there are not enough exclusives on it to interest me at this point. I have a Switch (bought used with tax return money several years back) a PS5 (got FOR FREE by giving a guy my old gamecube ps2 and assorted games for them) and a gaming laptop (bought secondhand off my ex when he upgraded). I am aware videogames cost a lot of money. This is why I don't usually buy new full price in store unless there is a mega deal to get it extra cheap or a game I have been very excitedly waiting for and am being impatient. The vast majority of the games I have I purchased at 20USD or under by utilizing deals and secondhand sources, or were gifts from friends.

I also have a fairly robust emulation knowledge base and have modded more than one handheld, phone, and computer to play pretty much any videogame out there.

Poor people have not been able to afford these prices for a long time. And so this seems more like a reactionary moment of outrage that suddenly *you* can't afford a luxury that had existed well within your grasp, because you cannot fathom creative ways to make it happen or exercising a moderate amount of patience for prices to become more affordable.

I can tell you right now that if the expectation was for me to have paid full price for what I have, I would not be able to afford any of it.

And that's not even touching on people for whom their region has never been able to afford these games. Brazilians talk about this all the time and it's very interesting to me to see so many people in the US and UK having a meltdown about what has been their reality for decades.

Not to mention if you adjust for inflation, 80USD for a game is not that different from 60USD at the release of the original Switch.

It's always been expensive. You're just feeling it more because everything else is expensive too.

Maybe if an opportunity arises for me to get the switch 2 for free like I got the ps5, I'll consider. For right now, it's just not a possibility nor is it a worthwhile investment.

hey americans there is a recall on testosterone gel because they found benzene in it! please check the lot numbers on your batches, benzene is really not something you want to be rubbing into your skin, also you might be eligible for compensation because this is just insane what the fuck
