"What have they done to you,
Old friend."

Trapped in the fade, Solas comes face to face with the remnant of his spirit.

The Dread Wolf was his wisdom, mirror to his pride. In the wake of the wrathful Evanuris, it too, has succumbed to their taint.

Or, where I'm making wild plot speculations surrounding Solas trapped in the fade. while turning my brainrot into art pieces and gifs. I'M PACING MY ENCLOSURE. Looking for crumbs and scrabs of Veilguard. Please Bioware I'm begging, feed me. 😭

I got an angry comment from a reader that as a result of my fic containing subject matter that ChatGPT's ToS doesn't want to talk about (racism, antisemitism, sexual violence, abuse, etc.) ChatGPT can't generate new chapters of the fic for them.

Two things. One, I've taken a break because my dad died, so sorry you went two whole weeks between updates but maybe learn some perspective. Two, why are you complaining to me? Complain to whoever runs ChatGPT. I don't run the thing. I have no say in its' rules or what it does or doesn't let you put in. I don't even know how it works, because since I was 5, I've been someone who comes up with my own stories, rather than having a computer tell me them, and have therefore never used the thing.

I don't even know what to say beyond, "That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know." So that's all I said, because genuinely, I like the idea of this person having to wait for the actual update instead of having the machine think up an idea for them.

It's not my best comeback but if I'm being completely honest, I don't think this person deserves my best comebacks. They get my first draft. It's all they've earned.

Idk what I would say if I got an ask saying they fed my fic to ChatGPT but I think I would have gotten violent along the lines of "I hope ChatGPT fucks your partner in your place while you're hung from meathooks while I publish a front-row seat account of it all on AO3 to a million kudos and comments"

I’ve had a slightly annoying week so it’s time to bitch about something that’s been bothering me for a while, but I think we need to stop normalising rewriting video games you don’t like. All the Veilguard rewrites I came across can be put into two categories:

- it’s just about Solas

- extremely minor tweaks

Do these minor tweaks actually do anything for the story? Do these adjustments amount to anything narratively? Would a game about Solas do anything? Is this something the actual player base really wants? Or is it just a fantasy tailor-made for the five people who post in the same Discord server?

I think it’s okay to have headcanons, but I kinda hate the hubris of pretending a 500-word Tumblr post or a few pages of a Word doc does anything other than belittle actual creatives. There’s a difference between engaging with a story and trying to overwrite it. Not every narrative choice you don’t like is a plot hole. Not every deviation from your personal fanon is a mistake.

And what really pisses me off is that the actual writers get harassed, dogpiled, hated on, overworked, and then fired the second a studio wants to cut costs. And after all that, their work is picked apart like it was some lazy, careless accident. It’s not. These people are doing their jobs under pressure we can’t even see, and it’s just gross to act like your weekend rewrite somehow does it better.

Like yeah, it’s fun to speculate and imagine different outcomes but there’s a weird trend lately where people treat fan rewrites like they’re legitimate improvements and they’ve fixed something broken. You didn’t. You just made it fit your preferences. That’s fine, but let’s not pretend it’s revolutionary.
