warnings — kissing, kinda pg-13, mentions of drinking/smoking the usual stuff blah blah etc etc
a/n; truly thought another theo fic written by me would never see the light of day but here we are <3 this was meant to be a tiny drabble btw I hate myself!!!! NOT PROOFREAD!

THEODORE NOTT is shy.

he doesn’t understand why people find him intimidating. well, actually, that’s not completely true. he knows that people avoid him when he’s with his friends because they’re doing stupid shit like when enzo and draco are hexing each other for fun. or when mattheo starts scrapping out in the corridor because someone looked at him wrong and blaise is egging him on.

and, okay, maybe theo will jump in at some point too. in his defence, it’s only when the other guy’s friend starts in on him first.

but his friends aside, theo doesn’t understand why people think he’s intimidating when he’s by himself. it’s not his fault his resting face is daunting.

he wishes he could change it sometimes. girls will still come up to him at parties in the common room once he’s had a couple of drinks, but at the risk of becoming an alcoholic, he can’t be that loose all of the time.

theo wishes more than ever that he could cast some sort of spell on himself when you talk to him. you share a few classes, much to theo’s delight, but it’s not like he’s taking advantage of the fact.

every time you speak to him, his brain short circuits and he feels like a piece of muggle technology being fried by the wards of hogwarts. sometimes it’ll be something small like when you ask him to pass over the pot of lacewing flies in potions and he just stares at you.

“uhm, we’ve run out of them on our table,” you explain after a few seconds of silence, giving him a little smile. you point to the ingredients and raise your brows. “so…?”

James

James Potter x Reader

You sit across the hall, your textbooks open but long forgotten. Your gaze drifts again, as it always does, to him. His dark, untidy hair catches the torchlight, and those round glasses of his reflect the golden glow of the Great Hall. James Potter. A name you’ve turned over and over in your head like a secret, a charm you’re too scared to cast out loud.

You’ve spent months like this, stealing glances when you’re sure he’s too busy laughing with Sirius, or gesturing wildly as he retells a Quidditch move to Peter. Sometimes he’s so absorbed in a conversation with Lily Evans you’re almost grateful, because it makes him easier to look at without fear of being caught. But today, something shifts.

It’s a Tuesday, and you’ve got Transfiguration next, but your head is too full of him to think about lessons. You risk another glance, just one more before you leave the hall, and your stomach drops.

James is looking right at you.

Your breath hitches. You freeze mid-motion, your hand gripping your goblet too tightly, and in that awful, wonderful moment, he smirks. It’s the kind of smirk that tilts at the corner of his mouth, mischievous and knowing. His hazel eyes glint with something you can’t name, and before you know it, he’s leaning toward you.

"Who are you?" he asks, his voice casual but somehow making your heart race like you’ve just fallen off your broomstick. "My name’s James."

It’s ridiculous—of course you know his name. Everyone knows his name. He’s James Potter, Quidditch star, Gryffindor hero, Marauder ringleader. But somehow, hearing him say it to you makes your cheeks burn. You stammer out your name, and he grins wider.

And that’s when it begins.

At first, it feels like magic, like something out of the books you’ve pored over in the library late at night. He talks to you in the hallways, waves when he sees you during meals. Once, he even steals your quill in class and pretends he doesn’t know what you’re talking about until you’re chasing him around the desks. For a brief, dazzling moment, it feels like all those hours you spent dreaming of him weren’t wasted.

But then you start to notice the jokes. The way he rolls his eyes when Sirius whispers something in his ear. How he doesn’t take anything seriously, least of all you. It’s all harmless fun to him, you realize, even as your heart twists itself into knots. He isn’t looking for the same kind of magic you are.

And yet, you can’t stop thinking about him. About his laugh, his messy hair, the way he says your name like it’s part of some elaborate prank he hasn’t explained yet. He’s a fool, you tell yourself. A foolish, arrogant, brilliant boy who doesn’t even know what he’s done to you.

You spend hours wondering how you let yourself fall for him, dreaming of what could have been. And yet, even as the weeks pass, you still feel the heat of those flames. James Potter. A name you’ll carry with you, even after he’s long forgotten yours.

Deer Plush
James Potter x f!reader

Summary: In which James Potter, determined to impress you, takes on a shooting game at a carnival, all for a deer plush that made you smile.

୨ৎ theodore nott x fem!reader

୨ৎ summary : when you haven’t been feeling too well but theo’s there to comfort you

the loud hum of music did nothing to drown out your constant thoughts. you were consumed by meaningless worries as you overthought any interaction you’ve had your entire life.

with a sigh you turned to lay on your other side. and then switched sides again, still lacking any comfort in which your bed would normally bring. it was there to wrap you in warmth as you lost yourself in sleep and daydreams but instead you were trapped in a nightmare of your own thoughts.

your life was great. you had friends who you cared for deeply and your studies were going well which is why you couldn’t understand this feeling itching away at you. it was burning you up from the inside but you didn’t know why you felt like this.

you had no reason to be upset yet the feeling stayed persistent no matter how much you tried to shut it down. something was wrong, you just wished you knew what it was.

this feeling had been creeping behind you for weeks, weighing you down as you tried to carry out your daily tasks. it felt exhausting as you held a smile and laughed with your friends before spending the night tossing and turning.

you heard a knock on the door, your eyebrows scrunched in confusion. it wasn’t too late in the afternoon and none of your friends had yet to return to the solace of the dorm. then you heard it again, rapid knocks and back and forth pacing.

please, open the door”, you froze hearing theodore’s voice. it sent a familiar comfort to you as you realised how long it had been since you two have had a proper conversation. it wasn’t like you were purposely ignoring him, but when you felt yourself being wrapped in constant anxiety and frustration, you had instinctively pulled away from those you were closest too, not wanting them to know how lost you’d been feeling.

“i know your there, i mi- i wanna talk and see how your doing, please open the door” theodore sounded desperate as he rushed his words out, his tone snapping you back into reality as you quickly got up, and unlocked the door.

you sighed preparing yourself for a lecture but were surprised to see theo in a huge mess, his hair was unkept from constantly brushing his hands through it, his eye bags were prominent and shade of purple and his eyes were instantly searching you with visible concern.

then something even more unexpected happened. you felt him pull you into a tight embrace. you were still for a moment, shocked, knowing how much he despised hugs.

quickly though, you found yourself wrapping your arms around his neck as you allowed yourself to hide away from your own feelings and drape yourself in the comfort he gave you. his rough hands were gently wrapped around your waist as his thumb mindlessly grazed your skin back and forth, the small touch grounding you.

much too soon you both were pulling away and you felt amused noticing the embarrassed look on his face, unsure how to act after that simple act of gentleness because you both knew it meant more than you’d admit.

you moved to sit down on your bed as theo looked you over curiously, “are you okay?” he asked, sitting down beside you.

you forced a smile on your face as you replied, “of course i’m fine!” he eyed you skeptically, not believing your words.

“you’ve been acting really off and i want you to know you can talk to me” he admitted, his voice so soft in a way you’d never heard before, he was looking at you so desperately wanting to make sure you were okay that it pulled at your heartstrings.

you sighed knowing that theo has always been there for you and there isn’t a single thing you can’t tell him. “i- i’m not even sure what’s going on, everything just feels so weird and i can’t stop feeling upset all the time” the words started falling out your mouth as you spilled in slurred sentences how you had been feeling recently.

you hadn’t even noticed that tears has began to fall till theodore’s thumb was wiping them away, so gently. once you’d finished your rambling you met his eyes which were looking at you so intensely, his relaxing deep caramel eyes that made you feel so protected like no bad thoughts could get you while he was here.

he leaned in and left a delicate kiss to your forehead whispering “i’m here always” over and over, till you really believed that no matter what happens he’s always going to be there to protect and comfort you. just that thought alone was enough to make you smile.

“next time you better tell me that you’re feeling like this so i can be there for you”. you nodded instantly “i promise”

he smiled knowing you would as he pulled you in his embrace once more. the smell of pine trees and other earthy scents was inviting as it flooded your senses, leaving you feeling serene.

you knew the pain would come back but felt soothed knowing that theo would be there to help ease your thoughts and care for you when you ached.

the one with the summer soirée . | ( female reader ) wc 1.5k + ( masterlist ) ↻ ◁ previous II next ▷ ↺

THE SUMMER SOIRÉE was exactly what you expected: green lawns stretching for acres, champagne flutes clinking, the soft murmur of polite conversation blending with the live jazz band tucked under a white gazebo. your parents had insisted you attend, dragging you to yet another country club event filled with the same faces and the same stories. but tonight, it wasn’t about them. tonight, you knew chris would be there.

you’d heard whispers that he’d RSVP’d, bringing along his girlfriend, kate. you told yourself you didn’t care, that you were over the whole thing, the kiss, the tension, the way he’d looked at you like you were the only person in the world. but as you stepped onto the club’s patio in your pink summer dress, the truth was harder to ignore.

you spotted him almost immediately, standing near the bar with kate. she was laughing, her hand resting possessively on his arm, while he scanned the crowd like he couldn’t be less interested. but when his gaze landed on you, his expression didn’t change. no flicker of recognition, no hint of the moment you’d shared weeks ago. just a blank, casual glance before he turned back to kate.

you felt your stomach twist, but you pushed it aside, deciding you’d play the game better. if he could pretend nothing happened, so could you.

you spent the evening mingling effortlessly, your laughter light and your smile practiced. a group of young men gravitated toward you, charmed by your ease and grace. one of them, a young heir with a sharp suit and even sharper cheekbones, was particularly attentive.

“and what about paris?” he asked, tilting his head a little. “do you visit often?”

“only when the mood strikes,” you replied smoothly, swirling the champagne in your glass. “but the bahamas were lovely last week. have you ever been?”

you caught a glimpse of chris out of the corner of your eye, his jaw tightening as he watched you. kate was saying something to him, but his attention was clearly elsewhere. it was petty, but you couldn’t deny the satisfaction that crept in as you turned back to your companion, leaning just slightly closer.

the night wore on, the crowd thinning out as the party began to wind down. you’d escaped to the club’s garden, needing a moment of quiet. the fairy lights strung through the trees cast a soft glow over the space, and you exhaled, letting the cool evening air settle over you.

“making quite the impression tonight.”

his voice cut through the silence, and you turned to find chris standing there, hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable.

“you too,” you said lightly, though your chest tightened.

he took a step closer, his tone casual. “so, what’s the game here?”

“no game,” you replied, turning back to the garden. “just enjoying myself. shouldn’t you be with kate?”

“don’t pretend you care,” he said, his voice low.

you looked at him then, your gaze sharp. “oh, but i don’t. i just didn’t realize you’d be so invested in what i’m doing.”

his lips twitched into something resembling a smirk. “i’m not. just don’t expect me to sit back and watch you play pretend.”

“pretend?” you stepped closer, lowering your voice. “that’s rich, coming from you. you’re doing a pretty good job pretending yourself—with kate, i mean.”

he didn’t have a chance to respond before kate’s voice called out, her tone sweet. “chris? there you are!”

you stepped back, pasting on a polite smile as she approached. “enjoy your evening,” you murmured, brushing past him without another glance.

as the evening dwindled, the faint hum of tension lingered in the air. you overheard snippets of a fight between chris and kate as you passed the patio, her voice sharp and accusatory.

“you weren’t even with me half the night!” she snapped.

“and yet, here we are,” he replied, his voice cool.

“because of her,” kate hissed. “it’s obvious, chris.”

you didn’t linger to hear the rest, but by the time you found yourself in the quiet kitchen later that night, you weren’t surprised to see chris walk in, his steps heavy.

he paused when he saw you, his expression guarded. “kate and i broke up,” he said finally, leaning against the counter across from you.

you sipped your wine, nodding softly. “figured.”

silence stretched between you, broken only by the faint clatter of dishes as the staff cleaned up outside. he rubbed the back of his neck, looking like he wanted to say more, but the words never came.

he rubbed a hand along his jaw. “that's all you're gonna say?”

you met his gaze, your expression unreadable. “what else is there to say?”

neither of you moved, the air thick with something unspoken as you sat there in the dimly lit kitchen, the night stretching endlessly ahead.

tough luck . | ( female reader ) wc 1.5k + ( masterlist ) ↻ ◁ previous II next ▷ ↺

TWO WEEKS HAD PASSED since the kiss, a whole two weeks. the kind of time that felt like an eternity when you were pretending to forget about it. but then, you were on vacation in the bahamas, spending most of your time lounging by the pool, sipping on piña coladas, and definitely not thinking about chris. after all, you were the one who had told yourself it didn’t matter, right? you were carefree. you were on vacation. who needed drama when the sun was out, and everything tasted like summer?

you shrugged it off like it was nothing. after all, he was just chris. what was a kiss if not just a moment? nothing more than an impulse, a fleeting thought.

when you returned home, you were greeted by the usual, a few texts from your friends, a couple of missed calls, and then the message that made you stop mid-sip of your iced coffee. chris was throwing a barbecue, and everyone was invited. everyone. you stared at the message for a second. was he serious? you hadn’t seen him in weeks, and now, out of nowhere, he was throwing a party.

but you were nothing if not unpredictable, so you shrugged and went with it. "let’s make an appearance," you said to your parents, who quickly agreed.

the minute you pulled up to chris’s house, the familiar buzz of expensive cars and noise filled the air. kids from the neighborhood, all dressed to impress, were scattered around the lawn. the smell of burgers and hot dogs wafted in the air.

you made your way inside with your parents, greeting a few of the neighbors along the way. everyone seemed to be having fun, laughing and chatting as if nothing was out of the ordinary, after all, nothing was.

then, you spotted him. chris was standing by the grill, talking to a few people. and for a second, you debated just turning around and walking right back out. you hadn’t expected it to be like this.

but you had already made your way over to him with your parents in tow. as soon as you stepped up beside him, he turned to face you. his expression was casual, like the kiss hadn’t happened at all.

“hi, mr. and mrs. y/l/n,” he said smoothly, offering a polite handshake to your parents before turning to you. “and you… hey.” his voice was cool, unaffected. no hint of the tension you had both shared. he was cold, as if nothing had ever happened. you stood there, feeling your heart drop, trying not to show how hurt you were. so this was how it was going to be, huh?

“hi, chris,” you said, forcing a smile. “it’s been a while.”

“yeah,” he replied nonchalantly. “been a busy couple weeks.” he tilted his head, his gaze lingering on you for just a second longer than necessary.

before you could react, a soft voice broke through. "hey babe!" you turned to see a girl standing next to chris, her arms wrapped around his waist, kate. she was effortlessly pretty. "hi, there." the girl said with a bright smile. "great to see you again, hun."

you were silent for a moment, taking in the scene before you. chris, with her. yet again. “hey, kate,” you said, forcing out a smile. you looked at chris again, his hand casually resting on her hip.

"this is my girlfriend," chris added, as if that should explain everything. his voice was polite, but there was something in the way he said it, as if the whole thing was a mere formality. like you didn’t matter, like you’d never meant anything.

and for a moment, you just stood there, feeling completely dumbfounded. all that time, all that drama, and here he was, acting like it meant nothing. like you didn’t mean anything.

but you smiled, putting on the mask you knew how to wear. “well, it’s always great seeing you, kate.” you turned back to chris. “hope you’re all enjoying yourselves.”

chris gave you a quick glance, his eyes unreadable. “yeah, we’re having a great time.” and with that, he walked away, his hand still firmly around kate’s waist as they rejoined the rest of the guests.

you stood there, trying not to feel like the air had been knocked out of you. but it had. and you knew right then — whatever this was, it wasn’t over. not by a long shot.

the evening stretched on, the laughter and chatter of the party echoing around you, but you found yourself unable to shake the feeling of being out of place. you’d avoided chris all night, sticking close to your parents and keeping conversations light with people you didn’t care about. it was easy to pretend everything was fine, even though it wasn’t.

you hadn’t expected it to sting this much, seeing him with kate, the way he was so natural with her, so comfortable. it was like you hadn’t mattered at all.

chris, for his part, didn’t seem to care much about your absence. he was busy chatting with his friends, the usual cocky grin on his face as he clinked bottles with some other guys. every now and then, he’d glance at his phone, and then he’d casually continue talking like it was just another day. asshole.

you stood at the edge of the crowd for a while, watching him, trying to calm the irritation that was bubbling up in your chest. eventually, you took a deep breath, told yourself to stop being childish, and walked over to him.

he was leaning against the kitchen counter, his phone in one hand as he spoke to a couple of his buddies. when he noticed you approaching, he gave you a glance but didn’t stop what he was doing. his eyes barely flickered over to you, the same indifferent expression on his face, as his friends took a hint and walked away.

“hey,” you said, trying to keep your voice steady, even though there was a part of you that wanted to scream.

he glanced up, barely registering your presence. “hey.” his voice was casual, as if everything was just fine. “so... you’re dating kate now, huh?” you asked, trying to sound casual, like it didn’t matter, like you didn’t care.

chris’ eyebrows raised slightly, a little surprised by the question, but he didn’t hesitate. “yeah, we’ve been together for a couple weeks, give or take,” he said, giving you a shrug.

you nodded, your fingers curling into the edge of the counter. “didn’t realize you two were together... y’know, with the kiss and all,” you added, trying to sound indifferent, but you couldn’t hide the sting in your words.

he raised an eyebrow at you, clearly unfazed. “why, something wrong?” his tone was light, like he wasn’t even trying. you looked him dead in the eye. “no, not at all,” you replied. but your voice betrayed you, and you could hear the frustration in it.

chris took a deep breath, glancing down at his phone before locking it and slipping it into his pocket. “i’m sorry, did you, uh, call me once after the fact?” he asked, almost mockingly. “because for weeks, i didn’t hear from you. so forgive me for not waiting around 'till you came along.”

you froze, his words hitting harder than you expected. "what do you mean? you just moved on that quickly?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.

chris exhaled sharply, his gaze drifting around the room before looking back at you. he said your name like it meant nothing, his eyes cold. “you didn’t seem too interested, did you? i mean, not even a text, not even a ‘hey, how’s it going?’”

you were taken aback by the tone in his voice. you hadn’t expected him to sound so… calm. almost like he’d been over it for a while, and you hadn’t been a part of it. “so, what? you just decided to make it official with kate?” you said, trying to keep your voice steady, but it was shaking.

“yeah,” he replied, eyes steady on you. “because i’m not gonna waste my time waiting for someone who doesn’t even bother to reach out. no offense, but i’m not a fuckin' charity case.”

there was silence between you two for a moment, just the sound of laughter from the party filling the empty space. your chest tightened, and for the first time that night, you realized how much you had actually been hoping for something different. but it didn’t matter now.

you let out a breath, trying to collect yourself. “well, i guess this was a waste of my time,” you muttered under your breath, already regretting getting involved at all.

chris didn’t reply immediately, but his eyes softened for just a second. a flicker of something you couldn’t quite place, before he nodded. “yeah, well. i guess we both got what we wanted, huh?”

you didn’t answer him, instead turning on your heel and walking away. but the weight of his words stayed with you, lingering in the air like the smoke of an unresolved fight.

hockeyplayer!chris x fem!reader

synopsis. in which chris' hockey game takes a turn when your ex-boyfriend makes a crude comment about you, causing chris to loose his temper and break-out an intense fight on the ice.
warnings. one weird comment (not from chris,) violence.
word count. 2.1k.
authors note. this is lowkey corny but i love this idea. ive seen it so many times from different fandoms. this is also going to be quite long because i probably won't be posting for a few weeks since i have loads of studying to do (shoot me now) so this will be the last fic of 2024.

the ice rink was alive with anticipation, the hum of the crowd growing louder with every passing minute. you sat near the glass, bundles up in your puffer coat and a scarf, the chill of the arena seeping through. your fingers tapped nervously on your thighs as you glanced at the empty rink, the zamboni making its last slow pass across the ice. tonight was a big game for his and his team--the stakes were high, and you could feel the tension hanging in the air like a storm waiting to break.

chris had been quieter than usual in the hours leading up to the game. normally, he was the kind of guy who thrived under pressure, making everyone laugh and offering his signature smirk even when the odds were staked against him. but tonight, he'd barely said a word during the drive to the arena.

"are you okay?" you'd asked softly as he adjusted his gear in the locker room hallway, is usual pre-game routine. he'd paused, meeting your eyes with a look that was equal parts determination and something else--something harder to place.

brushstrokes, sketches, and you

mattheo riddle x reader where he shows his drawing to you and only you

word count : 922 words ˎˊ˗

warnings : extreme levels of fluff—may cause uncontrollable smiling

Mattheo Riddle was nervous. Not the usual brooding, sharp-edged nervousness he could pass off with a smirk or a sarcastic remark, but real nervous. The kind that made his palms sweaty and his stomach churn as he paced in his studio like a caged animal.

You’d be here any minute. And when you arrive, you’d see it.

The painting.

It was a surprise, something he’d been working on for weeks—maybe even months, if he counted all the failed attempts and discarded sketches. He wasn’t sure why he’d decided to do this. Maybe it was because you had this uncanny ability to make him feel like the best parts of himself weren’t as impossible to reach as he thought. Or maybe it was because he loved you, and you deserved to know just how much.

The sound of your voice broke through his anxious thoughts. “Matty? Are you in here?”

His heart leapt, and he scrambled to block the canvas. “Yeah, yeah, I’m here. Don’t—wait! Don’t look yet.”

You stepped into the doorway, your brow furrowed in confusion. “What’s going on? You’re acting weird.”

“I’m not acting weird,” he countered, clearly acting very weird. “Just—close your eyes. Please?”
