Okay so everyone is (justifiably!!!) loosing it over Nintendo’s obscene price hikes for the switch 2
For those potentially out of the loop, game cards are just a key to download the game, like what PlayStation and Xbox have been doing for the last generation (ps5 + Xbox X/S) and a bit of the previous.
They’re also hiking the prices to $70usd for the digital copy, and $80usd for the physical copy
The console itself is $630 for the base model, and $700 for the Mario kart bundle.
In the states

For the base model:
In Australia it’s $700aud / $444.58usd
In Canada it’s $630 / $448.13usd
In the UK it’s £395 / $517.90usd
And in Japan, it’s ¥96 680 / $470 (for the global version, there’s also a jp only version available for ¥49 980 / $330)
Mind that I do think these are ridiculous prices, but it’s not new and people are treating it like this isn’t an ongoing issue.
Anyway why is the USA version no less than $100 more?

Yeah, trump put 24% tariffs on Japan.
24% of the $470 Japan price is $112, which brings it up to $582. Much closer to the $630 base model.
That’s assuming they’re made in Japan (they’re not. They’re made, assuming it’s the same as the clsssic switch, in china and Vietnam)
The current import tariffs for china is 54% (bringing the price up to $723 from japans $470)
And there appears to be a pending 46% tariff on Vietnam ($470 > $682)
So when you’re bitching about greedy companies, don’t forget to bitch about your fascist president enabling it.

The way I was able to recognize several anons in one of my inboxes bc of this error. Oh my god. Guys. This isn’t supposed to happen.
Weighing in to say:
YES, I SEE THIS ON MOBILE. HOWEVER I DO **NOT** THINK IT'S SHOWING THE ANON'S REAL IDENTITY.
The profile pictures I see next to anon asks are profile pictures that belong to other, non-anon asks in my ask box also. Some info
- there are 14 asks in my inbox from the last ~5 days
- 9 anons, 5 logged in users
- ALL 14 show pfps, including the 9 anons
- ALL THE SHOWN PROFILE PICTURES BELONG TO THE 5 LOGGED IN USERS
I think the bug is the inbox INCORRECTLY attributing anons to neighboring, logged-in asks.
Which is still a bad bug! Considering it makes it look like a long-time follower of mine sent me a spam ask.
And is worse if, say, one of these was anon hate.
But it's NOT the anon's real identity. It's a neighboring ask asker's identity
So if you have anon hate in your inbox that looks like it's attributed to your dear friend, who sends you lovely asks all the time, it was Not them.
CONFIRMED THE BUG IS INCORRECT ATTRIBUTION.
