When is the transgender day of doctors listen to you? I could use that one

just watched Grian's video from yesterday where he ends it by saying that Cleo is gonna return any second now, but also Cleo just tweeted that they're still a hundred thousand blocks away, which results in the hilarious mental image of permit office!Grian standing in front of a nether portal for fourteen hours, occasionally looking at his watch and saying "aaany second now", entirely unmoving.

vanilla minecraft screenshots that look fake:

oh how i’ve missed you hermitcraft

correction: vanilla minecraft screenshots that look completely normal in 2025. hermitcraft season 9 was just ahead of its time.

not to be all i told you so about ancestry tests but 23 and me went bankrupt and can now legally sell human genetic information to the highest bidder, as per their privacy policy which was signed by approx. 15 million test takers

FYI, you can ask them to delete at least most of your data and can even request that they destroy your saliva sample if you for some reason opted in to them storing it indefinitely. I didn’t store my sample, so I didn’t have to worry about that, but I did have them delete my info and it was a pretty painless process.

Instructions can be found here and in a number of other places.

Also, the state of California has given instructions for revoking permission for your data to be used for further research. Do I live in California? No. Did I cite this law when making my request anyway? Yes.

Ok my henchmen i have a mission for you. Liberally use the term 'relationship' to mean any and all relationships. Platonic, professional, hateful, etc etc. If people wanna talk about a romantic relationship they gotta specify the romantic part. We must weaken the allonormativity. Ok thats all thanks line up for kisses

Something to watch for, which I learned from stage magic but which is extremely relevant to detecting scams as well:

The magician or scammer will *tell you* how he is going to prove his honesty.

The magician rifles through the deck until you say "stop", then he says, "Are you sure? I'll keep going if you want." and asks "Now, you agree that you could have stopped anywhere you wanted, so there's absolutely no way I could know which card you got" and because it's a magic show and you aren't paying close attention you didn't notice he didn't deal a card from where you stopped, he dealt the bottom card of the deck.

The magician doesn't ask you, "What would it take for you to believe this" because you might say, "I'd need you to use a sealed deck" or "I'd have to personally shuffle the deck" or some other proof that would make the trick impossible.

Magicians say "You agree that if I did *this*, it would mean *that*, right?" and you say yes, and it feels like you are the one who got to verify things, but of course the magician is lying and the proof is nothing of the kind.

Scammers do the same thing. A really concrete example is phone scammers pretending to be working for the government will say, "Look, I see you're skeptical if I'm who I say I am, I'm going to hang up and call back, and you'll see on the caller ID it says, 'FBI' and that tells you that I'm really working for the government."

Now, caller ID can be spoofed pretty easily, so it doesn't prove anything at all.

But it *feels* to you like you demanded proof and the scammer was willing to give you the proof.

But you didn't tell the scammer what out would take to prove it to you, the scammer told you what the proof would be.

This is actually like a really basic thing to look for if you want to start decoding magic tricks and scams.

Adobe is going to spy on your projects. This is insane.

For general graphics: use GIMP For vector graphics: use Inkscape For drawing and illustration: use Krita For print and web publishing and design: use Penpot For PDF authoring: use LibreOffice For PDF reading and form filling: use Okular

All are free, open source and cross-platform. None use AI.

For visibility

For video editing, there aren't any professional grade apps that are open source afaik, but Davinci Resolve (free and paid version) and Final Cut Pro are a way better deal than premiere pro

(and if you work in film & TV there's also Avid i guess)
