people sometimes incorrectly assert that anyone using the phrase “The Jewish Question” for any reason is a Nazi/antisemite, but historically this just hasn’t been true.
it’s true that what Nazis dubbed “The Final Solution” was a “solution” to “The Jewish Question”, but if you read Jewish writings from the 19th & 20th Century, this phrase “The Jewish Question” is used liberally by Jews, with many different solutions being proposed
the difference is what was meant by it:
- To the Antisemites, The Jewish Question was “What are we going to do about all these Jews?”
- To the Jews, The Jewish Question was “What are we going to do about all this antisemitism?”
I’ve seen, more than once, Anti-Zionists bringing up that Herzl proposed Zionism as “a modern solution to the Jewish Question” to commit Holocaust Inversion & suggest Zionists are The Real Antisemites™️ for using it, but what they’re leaving out is a) the “question” Herzl was referring to was “How do we Jews keep ourselves safe?” and b) the question was being asked by Jews across the political spectrum. Anti-zionism/Bundism were also presented as solutions to the Jewish Question
The grain of truth is that yes, nowadays, if you hear someone mention “The JQ”, they are almost inevitably a Nazi. This is because, after the Holocaust, Jews stopped asking the question. The debate was settled. The only people pretending it wasn’t by still asking the question just don’t like that the answer was self-determination
