It’s rare to feel happy in northern Gaza. But the other day, my sister Soso made me smile.

It’s not a lie that sugar is expensive. 1kg is $80. Frying oil is $70. That donut was expensive to make, even without the sugar. But it’s okay. Even if it means the adults can’t eat, it’s okay. Soso was happy for a few hours. She’s only 4 years old yet her life is already so hard. She’s not growing properly due to malnutrition and trauma. Her mental health is in shambles, not at all how a child should be. Since birth, two wars have come very close to killing her, so we just want her to be happy.

Please help me make her happy every day. A few days ago, she was the happiest child in the world because she ate an apple for the first time in a year. That won’t happen again because fruits are too expensive, but I swear, she explodes with joy when we buy vegetables too. She is a child with simple dreams.

Sex is fine outside of a romantic relationship AND outside of a platonic relationship btw. Someone can be aplatonic and aromantic while still having deep and meaningful sexual bonds or fun and healthy no-strings attached casual sex. There is nothing morally wrong about that. You don’t have to have romantic or platonic feelings in order to have a healthy sexual relationship built on trust and mutual enthusiastic consent. This applies to all types of sex, whether vanilla or kinky. While sex—especially sex involving high risk kinks (e.g., choking, knife play, fear play)—can require a lot of trust, planning, and risk mitigation to practice safely, the presence of these are not exclusive to romantic or platonic relationships and can just as easily be found in relationships which are exclusively sexual.

Can we all please stop acting like aroallos expressing boundaries (on their own posts/blogs!) is somehow causing harm???

It is perfectly reasonable for them to not want their posts derailed by discussions of asexuality, including aromantic asexuality. It is perfectly reasonable to have a statement in posts in order to get ahead of any derailing. That’s not gatekeeping any more than a lesbian asking gay men not to derail a post about lesbianism would be.

I get that people may tag “asexual” or “aroace” due to not using the split attraction model. But nothing is stopping you from not tagging it, tagging it as aspec, or even tagging it as aromantic (people tag posts about groups they are not a part of with the name of that group all the time). And if you really can’t do any of that, just make your own damn post.

Let aroallo people exist in aromantic and aspec spaces without needing to cater to other aspec identities. Let them set and enforce very reasonable boundaries. Stop accusing them of gatekeeping or whatever else for doing so. Please.
