If you live in the USA, you can use this easy widget from the National Humanities Alliance to send a message to your elected representatives asking them to protect the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), which has been targeted by DOGE for a clawback of current grant funds and for staffing cuts up to 90%. The widget provides a template email and automatically looks up the addresses of your reps.

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.
and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
I'm not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me
We often eat pie at work...for morale.
"As a treat" implies a special occasion, a temporary state. "For morale" makes the joy essential, because you have to have good morale to keep going.

not to be all i told you so about ancestry tests but 23 and me went bankrupt and can now legally sell human genetic information to the highest bidder, as per their privacy policy which was signed by approx. 15 million test takers
FYI, you can ask them to delete at least most of your data and can even request that they destroy your saliva sample if you for some reason opted in to them storing it indefinitely. I didn’t store my sample, so I didn’t have to worry about that, but I did have them delete my info and it was a pretty painless process.

Also, the state of California has given instructions for revoking permission for your data to be used for further research. Do I live in California? No. Did I cite this law when making my request anyway? Yes.
