secret blog where i ramble about the outsiders

@farawayfromtulsaa

platonic + familial yume

ponyboy, who becomes so incredibly poetic whenever writing about his friends

pony, who goes from jabbing at and teasing his friends to writing about them like theyre his muses, accentuating the best parts of them and highlighting the small things no one elses notices

ponyboy, who writes like his life depends on it, dumping his heart and soul into every word; just to end up throwing it away and never showing anyone the art he created

then, theres sodapop, who refuses to go one day without giving someone a heartfelt compliment. compliments that aren't just "you look nice today" or "your hairstyle suits you." rather, he takes the time to find something to point out

soda, who, despite his sense of inferiority to the people around him, never lets himself bring it out on anyone; instead, pushing himself to keep being great at the things hes good at, while celebrating the achievementst of others

sodapop, who always manages to be in the middle of fights. always expected to mediate and fix whatever problem there may be, despite him being just as hurt and upset as everyone else.

finally, theres darrel, who can't put his love into words. whose thought and words seem to get stuck in his throat the moment he goes to comfort or support his friends.

darry, who loves through actions. bringing his friends dinner, when he knows their parents, for whatever reason, can't make it for them. giving his hand-me-downs to whoever may need them, even if they're a bit too long, or can't stay up without a belt.

darrel, who is the same little kid who loves his brothers, even if he doesnt know how to show it. hes taken on the parental role, trying to be like his father-- but, through the stress of dropping out of school at just 20 years old, taking on two jobs, and caring for his two brothers-- has crumbled under the pressure

Gay people can't say "I love you" they have to sing a song about running away together and getting to watch the sunset and have a garden together then singing about how they ony feel alive because of each other. And they won't leave each other

ponyboy (book, movie, stageplay, show, musical) gives me parental instincts and i have no idea why. i can't help but cry when I think fo him for too long because. oh he's a fourteen year old boy. that CHILD had to go through the loss of his parents, the (metaphorical) loss of his oldest brother, his bestfriend, his close friend, and himself. ponyboy saw three dead bodies in the span of one week. id go on but i think id start talking about ponyboy as if he were my child
