Today's sobering "0" had arrived during lunch.

some stills and some details: the hour is neil's number and andrew's number, the hour for the message is January 19th, the ringtone is Runaway Train by Soul Asylum, it's 13 seconds long

ʚ Kaye & Roiben ɞ

Kaye Fierch and Lord Roiben from "Tithe" by Holly Black, the first book in the "Modern Faerie Tales" trilogy! I really enjoyed the book a lot, and it was nice to be back in faerie after a reading slump.

Hopefully there'll be more bookish fanart soon!

This is the opposite of the girl struggling on that chicken nugget

the aforementioned godawful chicken nugget scene, for the uninitiated

also a big fan of the sushi vcr

this keeps being reblogged by people and i don’t know. why

Gonna add my favorite scene of an anime girl eating

first girl threw those fries in her mouth like darts

People forgetting the best anime diva eating scene

renee finds out about the fire and texts jean that she’s giving the foxes his new address so they can send him postcards, pictures, new things to fill their new home

kevin sends a couple of postcards, like he always used to

neil takes the absolute WORST photos of the team and sends them jean’s way. he can’t help but laugh at them, blurry, out of focus, ridiculous moments

renee keeps texting him, of course, but she’ll also send him the occasional artistic photo of the open sky, a flower in bloom

wymack sends him a terse letter telling him to contact him if jean needs anything

and then jean gets this ugly, dollar-store card that has a simple ‘fuck you, moreau’ scrawled in messy handwriting on the back, and he thinks it’s just another attack from one of the ravens or their fans until he sees the signature at the bottom: ex-brisket lungs

he frames it.

Being an evil doppelganger has to be so fucked up like imagine meeting a better version of yourself. Some chain of events going differently that led to "you" being a better person in a way you can never achieve. Personally I'd have no other option but to try and kill them

It's always "oh no my evil clone or twin or whatever is trying to kill me" and never How is my evil clone? Says a lot about society

Me, crashing the fuck out: you think you're better than me? You think you're fucking better than me???

My good clone, dodging a glass: I mean like objectively yeah

Now that you mention it, I'm surprised I haven't read or seen anything where the main character just gives their evil clone a hug.

Evil Me: "How dare you have all the things I can never have!"

Regular Me: "Put that down; we're getting you some friends and inner peace, stat. No no, I get that you're angry. C'mon, we've got a punching bag in the garage. You can pretend it's me and tell me all about it."

I have a clone. He’s doing better than I am, but we get along OK. Turns out neither of us is particularly evil - Clones only get evil when you don’t give them enough room.

As ever, behaviour in captivity is not natural behaviour.

That said, if I had to pick I think we’d flip a coin as to who has to shave their beard off and be the non evil clone.

Literally you can just decide to be identical twins. Give each other space to be different people and all is well. Try to be the same person and there's gonna be problems.

In the epilogue of Mockingjay, Katniss only refers to her children as 'the boy' and 'the girl'. We never learn their real names. Throughout her life, Katniss has never really been allowed privacy or the ability to make many of her own decisions. Whether this was caused by the living conditions of the Seam and having to constantly provide for Prim and their mother, or by the fact that she was forced into the scrutiny of the public eye when she was reaped/volunteered and became the face of the rebellion- The Mockingjay.

So then all of this passes, she and Peeta are living together in District 12 in the Victor's Village, and they are finally allowed to choose how they want to live. After 15 years, she decides that she's ready to have kids. They can be raised in a safe environment with no Games, no threats. So the one choice she makes at the end is to keep their names from us, the audience. The one thing that gives us our identity before anything else. The one thing that, essentially, makes us who we are (also Suzanne is so meticulous with picking names throughout the series, so it would be special to Katniss and Peeta). She decides that that's only for her and her family to know.

We, who have literally seen every inch of her life from the reaping up until now, are being told that no, we don't get to see parts of her life without her permission anymore. And it always makes me so emotional. Like yes! Take back your life! Rest. Live. Love. But on YOUR terms and no one elses.

(I posted this on my TikTok acc @narniachrons as well. It wasn't stolen, I swear!)

I catch a glimpse of myself on the television screen on the wall that’s airing my arrival live and feel gratified that I appear almost bored. Peeta Mellark, on the other hand, has obviously been crying and interestingly enough does not seem to be trying to cover it up. I immediately wonder if this will be his strategy in the Games. To appear weak and frightened, to reassure the other tributes that he is no competition at all, and then come out fighting. - "You know what my mother said to me when she came to say good-bye, as if to cheer me up, she says maybe District Twelve will finally have a winner. Then I realized, she didn’t mean me, she meant you!” bursts out Peeta. “Oh, she meant you,” I say with a wave of dismissal. “She said, ‘She’s a survivor, that one.’ She is,” says Peeta.

God importance of food in HUNGER Games is such amazing aspect of the books and shows the mentality of both Katniss AND Snow.

Coriolanus learns that food is power. He sees Nero Prize cutting off maid's leg to eat it. He sees what tributes will do for food. He knows what Lucy Gray did for food. He knows what he would do for food.

In his eyes food is a luxury and ultimate means of manipulation. That's why there is a tessare system, that's why there are monthly packages for the winning districts, that's why Games are a yearly public spectacle in the Capitol. He keeps districts hungry for food and Capitol hungry for entertainment.

Katniss learns that food is love. It starts with Peeta throwing her the burned loaf of bread. Then goes further into her love for Prim, which is the main cause of her hunting. Then with Gale as her hunting partner. Then with Madge who is her best friend and loves strawberries. Then with Mr. Mellark who loves squirrels. Then with Rue and bread from District 11. Then with Peeta again, with the berries.

Katniss doesn't use the power of food over people. She shares it. That's how she builds connections, forms friendships, wins over people's hearts, starts and wins revolutions.

For Snow food it a tool with which you can sew starvation and chaos.

For Katniss food is a tool with which you can form bonds and find peace.

I think its funny the difference between Peeta and Gale's reaction to Katniss talking to Finnick.

When Katniss talks to Finnick for the first time in Catching Fire, you know the famous sugar cube scene, she tells Peeta about it and Peeta just laughs.

Meanwhile, Katniss is talking to Finnick about Annie and Peeta being held hostage in the Capitol in Mockingjay, and Gale is all grumpy and upset and jealous that Katniss would rather talk to Finnick than him.

I was about to write: I love the fact that Katniss‘ first reaction to Haymitch‘s absolutely traumatising story is „You need some goose eggs. Goose eggs will help.“

And then I realised… She‘s mimicking Peeta. Peeta comes back to 12 and the first thing he does is plant primroses. And somehow… that helped her. So she‘s doing the same thing for Haymitch.
