Okay, so...
Let's start with the rules (again): Tag your moots and ask them where they got the idea for their tumblr account's name!
Moving on, for anyone reading this who doesn't know, my name is actually Lex, which is important for context.
Anyway.
The "Lex Hex" was coined by my husband to describe this thing that happens where he can be doing fantastic in a game, but then I simply pass through the room and suddenly his progress comes grinding to a halt and everything starts going wrong. Like, one day I walked by and his game suddenly went to shit, and he was all, "There it is: the Lex Hex" because it happens literally ALL OF THE TIME (it just happened last night even). Regardless, I took it and stylized it because there's something about all lowercase and no spaces that's somehow aesthetically pleasing. Now, as for my other name, which is illyrilex...
I buckled down on writing fanfiction at a time where I was still doing freelance writing work on the interwebs, so I decided that I should probably adopt a penname to keep my "professional" identity separate from my every day, "Oh shit, she's writing angst and dick jokes" identity. I knew I wanted to incorporate my name into it, so after some thought, I decided to combine the name of my favourite character on the show, Angel (Illyria), with my name (Lex), which resulted in illyrilex. Once again, the lowercase letters are just for aesthetics. Of course, in the end, it didn't really matter I guess because here I am over a decade later using both names interchangeably in most web spaces (though to be fair, I've stopped freelancing, so...)
