An RPG maker game by @mar64ds

Friendship Test

Friendship Test is a 10+ hour long narrative-focused RPG maker game that follows a friendprogram, a robot built to be a perfect friend, as they travel a mysterious lab and encounters multiple Programs in need of help (and friendship). But perhaps being the best friend you can be isn’t truly what FriendProgram wants… Is that so wrong?

This is a story that focuses on lovelessness, aplatonicism, aromanticism and many other aspec identities, as well as neurodivergency.

I hope my game is fun even if you don’t know much about these topics, hopefully it can even help more people find out or understand different aspec identities better!

Friendship Test is already out!

You can check out the trailer (and many previews!) in the official youtube channel. If you’re unable to play the game yourself, full playthroughs will be provided there too.

You can play the full game on itch.io, completely for free!

You can follow this blog or the official bluesky account for any Friendship Test-related news and content.

This is a 1 year long project I made for fun, to learn and to create a story that matters a lot to me, I’m very excited to share it. Thanks for reading and see you!

It's officially been a month since the full release of Friendship Test and the game is close to 300 downloads. More and more people are playing and talking about it, I can't be thankful enough.

Thank you so much for the support!

Part 3 of my Friendship Test playthrough! I'll be slowing down on this game so I can stay slightly behind a friend's playthrough, so there will only be one or two uploads every week from now on.

You. Thank you for making Friendship Test. One, it's made me realize that I'm a loveless aro. Two, you (possibly unintentionally) have created some amazing ASPD representation. This is the first time, maybe ever, that I've been this visibly seen in two major aspects of my life.

I've had a couple of discussions with my therapist about ASPD before, but he doesn't seem to think that it's possible and has told me to try not to pathologize my behavior. I'm genuinely going to be telling him about this game and how it's a 1:1 representation of how I think and have thought for a while.

That aside, though: god I really enjoyed your game. I'm not very good at summarizing my feelings on things, especially with my memory issues, but I was already invested by the time FUN and GAMES showed up on my screen. I liveposted to my friends as I played, and usually I don't do that unless I consider what I'm doing or experiencing to be... worth sharing, I guess is how I'd describe it? And I don't regret doing that and would do so again. It slammed me by the end, in a good way, and there were a lot of small charming moments I really enjoyed. The care you put into the game is palpable, too.

Just... thank you, from a guy who really needed that and didn't know they did.

Thank you so much for this kind comment! I'm very happy you saw yourself in my game and it helped you understand yourself better

FUN and GAMES being the best introduction is so funny but it keeps working, it worked for me cause I included them in the rest of the game cause I liked them too much

This means a lot! Thank you!!!

Visual warnings remain the same as last time.

Here is a content warning list for the full game:

-Death and murder

-Ableism

-Aphobia

-Emotional abuse and implied physical abuse

-Animal experimentation and animal abuse

-Unreality, dissociation, derealization and depersonalization

-Disturbing imagery

-Eye contact

-Moments of tension, life threatening situations

-Discussions of OCD

-One scene can be perceived as self-harm, even if that is not the intention. The scene is cut off and the character is not harmed, but there is a moment where they try to press a specific button in their armor with a sharp pointy object.

-Suicide

-edit: self destructive and self harming behaviour and situations that can be associated to real life self harm
