summoning other boromir enthusiasts pspspspsp

what kind of things do we think of young boromir doing? need some ideas so I’ll take anything🙏

*cracks knuckes* okay i'm whipping out the headcanons

  • i think he was a very artistic child, but only because faramir was better at art than him, so he practiced painting for weeks on end to try and become the best of the two (he never did)
  • spying! i think he was the type of son who would secretly spy on and listen in to denethor's secret council meetings
  • sword fighting. cardboard sword because he was really good and could&would pierce someone if he was given a real sword
  • reading, i feel like he was a child who was very curious about the world and wanted to learn a lot of things, so he always had some sort of book or scroll in his hands

Elrond casually having a crisis during the council might be my favorite thing about the first LOTR movie.

This is the face of a middle manager who realises, in the middle of the compulsory attendance Monday morning meeting he personally organised, that this all could and should have been an email. By the time Gandalf starts up with the Black Speech monologue, seemingly for the sole purpose of hastening his midday migraine, Elrond is mentally running through crew lists for ships headed to Valinor browsing Indeed dot com. The very picture of “I hope this email kills us both”.

elrond is the type of manager to throw one staff pizza party a year as a way of "giving back"

The River Meep
“Fear serves as an anchor to remembrance. Over six thousand years to remember, and this fear simply directs his mind towards a part of it. Celeborn of Doriath, who is now Celeborn of Lothlorien, wears his fear like jewelry: it draws attention to a part of him. When you wear rings, you cannot forget about your fingers. When you wear thin, golden bracelets, you remember your wrists. That is how Celeborn wears his fears. He is beholden to their frailty, captivated by their beauty. Like the lost city he carries within him.”

Summary:

"Lady Galadriel's husband?" Faramir asks in turn, and then flushes — no man would appreciate being addressed as his wife's husband. Well, he wouldn't mind, personally. But he's not like most other men. Nor, it seems, is this silver-haired elf, who is outright laughing at Faramir's flustered apology.

"Lady Galadriel's husband indeed, pleased to make the acquaintance of Lady Éowyn's betrothed," he smiles, bows low, and winks. "My name is Celeborn. And you have spent some time dead, I hear?"

"I have," Faramir nods. "Six minutes, they say."

It is a day of statewide mourning in Gondor for the losses of the War of the Ring, a ritual involving mass funerary pyres. Celeborn and Faramir skive off and spend the day beside an oddly named river very few have heard of, and find they have more in common than a fear of fire.

For @frodosrings “random pair” wheel event, featuring an unlikely friendship between Celeborn and Faramir.

NEW WHEEL FIC ALERT‼️

go read and leave some kudos, celeborn and faramir nation we have been blessed with a beautiful piece of literature on this day!!!

wanna be part of the wheel event? link in my bio!

What are your thoughts on Aragorn as a character? ✨⚔️

oh yes oh yes oh yes

i love this man. i know i bully him on this blog somewhat often (i.e. saying he can’t swim, assuming he has had head lice, saying i would drag him by his scruff and force him to bathe) but i love him and i think his character is so important to the overall story of lotr.

NOW, there is an obvious difference between book and movie aragorn, and imo (don’t come for me), i enjoy aragorn’s character from the movie trilogy better than his character in the books, though i do love both. i think in the movie, his portrayal of being very humble and cautious yet ready to fight for his friends at any moment is much more captivating than being gung ho to take back the throne and prideful like he is more so in the books. his movie character is much more mysterious and emotional and empathetic and i think that is shown especially well in his interactions with frodo.

to be fair, i haven’t re-read the books in over a year at this point, so perhaps i’m misjudging from memory, but it is all a matter of opinion. i think movie aragorn is just much more relatable and a better pillar for the fellowship to lean on, especially after gandalf falls in moria. i should also make clear that i do still very much enjoy book aragorn, his little bitchy ego moments are funny, but movie aragorn really has a grip on me !! i also just don’t think of book aragorn like hardly ever; when i think of aragorn and his character i think of how he is portrayed in the films.

tldr: he is so important and i understand him deeply
