โThe girls looked really ruthless and cruel in the pilot but they seemed so tame and normal in the actual pit girl hunt!!โ yeah itโs almost like the pilot was showing us the way the world would perceive their actions as monstrous and unimaginable, but when we found out the context and saw what they had gone through, we understood that it was multilayered and we saw through the idea that they lost their minds and turned evil. Itโs almost like nuance is the whole point. Itโs almost like they were never evil they were just hungry??

i love how s3 finale completely flips our perspective on the hunt from the pilot. half of the girls werenโt even hunting. van standing over the pit seemed so menacing in the pilot but now itโs just heartbreaking. mari being pit girl, not because the wilderness chose but because shauna chose. mari was only wearing a nightdress so she could use her clothes as a decoy. and turns out mari was a decoy while the others tried to get rescue. misty removing her mask and smiling not because they caught mari but because theyโre getting rescued and thereโs nothing shauna can do about it. the hair on the antler queen costume wasnโt a collection of various victimsโ hair, it was just mariโs. this whole time we thought it was all the girls collectively giving in to the hunt and the wildness of it, but really it was just shauna, along with lottie and tai. none of them wanted to do a hunt, none of them wanted mari to be chosen.
