it's LITERALLY full collapse's birthday... you can talk about the chemical romance tomorrow
never thought Disney would be bold enough to address the strain on Nick and Judy's relationship after the abortion
gideon gemstone is a character of all time. spends the first season going through the psychological turmoil of blackmailing his father and working through that guilt and then spends the rest of the show as a mary-sue who can beat up every enemy and crash motorcycles and drive a big monster truck through a militia compound without a scratch. and he has social anxiety
There is a stark difference how people on here view Kelvin versions reddit. On reddit I see people call him too gay and laugh at the way he dresses and say how moronic he looks and how he is the worst of the siblings and how with the latest episode βit was great to see him finally humbledβ.
Ironically this episode of The Righteous Gemstones digs at that view. That Kelvin is just a clown to be mocked and teased and generally shit on. We see Jesse and Judy make comments towards him that are letβs be real homophobic and literally for the first time in the entire series Kelvin actually goes at them. He digs at the things that are true about them and their own issues while they could only tease him for being gay. Kelvin grew up in the 90s and 2000s, the same era I grew up in.
Kelvin was right at the round table. He was right about scripture being outdated because it is in all religions. It tells you so many things that are impossible to avoid in modern society its like that one Simpsons episode where the preacher says if we all actually stuck to the bible we wouldnβt be allowed to even use toilet paper.
And Kelvin brings up a genuine fucking good point that yeah actually if kids are going to learn about religion in school then it should be EVERY religion not just Christianity. That coming from a character who is a Christian is a huge fucking deal and it was beautiful to hear. Kelvin explaining that everybody should feel welcomed and loved by God is right.
Simkins and the others at the table and in the room are the dying breed that lie and swear that they abstain from everything the bible deems a sin and judging by the news and how many of those people in real life are found on grindr and getting blown by guys in public or cheating or laundering money or doing hard drugsβ¦.theyβre full of shit. They hate Kelvin because he is happy. He is happy and he is gay and he is open about it and does not want to be miserable and angry and hateful about it.
Like I really love this season and in general I have always loved Kelvinβs arc throughout the entire show. And as an aside Adam DeVine better be nominated for and win a fucking emmy for this season of the show because The Bear ended fucking stop giving it everything. And let this genuinely talented constantly underrated man win. More disabled actors need fucking recognition.
I'm disqualifying the peanut butter chocolate due to my peanut allergy. Out of the rest the cherry cordial is easily the worst.
