I'm still not sure if i'm going to put bearotonin on hiatus or not, but i sure as fuck am going to be posting about Palestine on this blog. If you dislike or can't handle that, shame on you for turning away and being complicit in a genocide. Mental health or self care is not an excuse to turn away. Try telling the Palestinians being massacred rignt now that simply hearing about/seeing pictures of them being slaughtered was too upsetting for you. Because you know what's worse than seeing pictures and posts about a genocide? Actually being the ones genocided while people with the privilege to not have to live it and the privilege to look away and pretend it's not happening refuse to do anything because it makes them uncomfortable.

And if you turn away now and refuse to act, you'll have to live with the shame of knowing you allowed this to happen for the rest of your lives. You allowed children, entire bloodlines, an entire people to be permanently erased from the earth.

Have some humanity and do something. I am literally begging you all to do something, anything, and everything you can to stop this. Please.

30 Palestinians were killed in Gaza just since the ceasefire announcement less than 10 hours ago.

Think how depraved, sadistic, and arrogant an entity is to openly use the time between it had agreed to a ceasefire and it going into effect as a final stretch in a race of annihilation, a final show to the whole world of the stark asymmetry of power between the occupier and the occupied.

The number is actually 81 now. One of the massacres targeted a school. I just can't shake the heartbreaking thought that all of them were celebrating the ceasefire just last night.

This monstrosity is beyond words. Fuck Israel.

let us take a moment and grieve for all the lives lost. so many thousand people have been murdered by the zionist entity in the last fifteen months. palestinians in gaza have lost too much, from friends and family to their homes and livelihood.

this ceasefire is not an end to our solidarity with gaza. we will all be here waiting and praying for palestine to be wholly liberated from the occupation and watch her people be happy and free.

i pray for a ceasefire but a ceasefire does not free Palestine. israel violates ceasefires. we must fight for a liberated Palestine from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea and anything less is inadequate and shameful

The ceasefire is official. Glory to the resistance, glory to the martyrs, glory to Gaza.

Okay, without trying to take away from the joy we are feeling, we must stay vigilant. This ceasefire deal is 3 phases, the first is a 42 day pause for hostage exchange which is set to start on SUNDAY, as long as Netanyahu’s cabinet signs off on it. The IOF is not expected to fully retreat from Gaza, but stay to ‘mandated zones’. Palestinians are meant to be able to return to their homes, but with Israeli soldiers still there, this is not a guarantee. The 600 aid trucks a day into Gaza during this 42 day phase 1 is still not enough.

THIS IS NOT OVER. We do not know the details of phase 2 and 3, and nothing has been agreed for these phases in writing. We must not get complacent in this moment of respite. Please, do not stop fighting. This is not over until every Palestinian can return home, until the occupation is gone, until all of Palestine is free.

Keep protesting and campaigning, keep donating because aid organisations need all the help they can get, especially in the next 6 weeks, and it might be the only window people get to evacuate. This is a step in the right direction, but it is not over.

i've been feeling incredible anger and frustration lately with these posts lamenting what the next four years will look like in the u.s., how much "worse" things will get under the trump administration, as if we haven't been witnessing a holocaust for the past year funded by the biden administration. if you have seen a single video from gaza, a single picture, read a feature from a gazan journalist, spoken to a single person in your inbox when they plead for your attention and help, words like "worse" or "better" turn to ash in your mouth. just yesterday my friend hilda texted me that even when her family manages to get food, smoke from the fire needed to cook aggravates her sinus allergies, making it difficult to breathe. this is how she's been living for the past year and a month, under a democrat-funded genocide.

below is a small fraction of the palestinians who have reached out to me for help with their campaigns. it is a huge source of shame to me that i can't keep up with all of the people in my inbox. please go to their accounts and read their stories. and please give what you can spare.

on the "gazavetters" situation

For those unaware, the blog "gazavetters" which claimed to be run by legitimate Gazans on the ground and was verifying Gazan fundraisers, has been purged and a vague message was left on the blog seemingly discrediting vetting as a whole.

Myself and the team in @gaza-evacuation-funds are not associated with them and we never have been.

Their message is too vague to say what the actual intent behind it is, as it is written by ESL speakers. It seems to be criticizing the vetting practice rather than the fundraisers themselves but zionists will hear what they want to hear. The message is currently being co-opted by the racist and cruel "all Gazans are scammers" gang because of the vague nature of the message. Do Not be drawn in by that or fall into their racist trap.

Unfortunately it is hard to say the damage this vague message has done to many possibly legitimate fundraisers on the gazavetters list, as their legitimacy is now up in the air, in addition to every other gazan on tumblr fundraising for their families.

Though we are incredibly disappointed and puzzled by how things have been handled by gazavetters, we are investigating what happened there because we are commited to legitimate gazan fundraisers and deserving people continuing to get the support that they need.

Regardless of our findings, it is a reality that we may not be able to re-verify every single family on their list. And all we can offer is to try and shed more light on the situation. And unfortunate as it is that many families' legitimacy was harmed, we can't be held responsible for the actions of others.

Please avoid reblogging fundraisers vetted by gazavetters for the time being until we are able to confirm whether we can still consider these fundraisers as legitimate.

So my only update is what has already been posted by gazavetters. I can also say that the gazavetters fundraisers still are reliable and the list has been reposted.

This is their list and as far as I understand, they will no longer be updating it.

I've archived this list on my end in case it ever goes down again.

Israel punished Dr Hussam Abu Safiya by killing his son for refusing to leave the hospital after it came under attack.
