Love it in sickfics when whumpee is referred to as “buddy” by a teammate turned caretaker. Particularly if that teammate isn’t the nicest of people, maybe gruff and hard to get along with. They’re friends with whumpee but not super close. However, seeing him so clearly I’ll just turns something in caretaker’s mind. “Hey, buddy,” said with the same kind of cadence as one talking to a scared dog. “You’re shaking, buddy,” “you’re burning up, buddy,” “you’re real sick, buddy.” Don’t @ me

I think this is Jack reading something ridiculous from a book to Mac, perhaps to get a rise out of him. Mac looks confused, like he's trying to come up with an argument against... whatever.

What's in the book? Maybe it's a biography and there's a chapter about some event that Jack was involved in in the CIA. But the way it's protrayed isn't really how it happened. Maybe it's even something from when they were in Afghanistan. Or maybe it's some Jack's earlier tour, and he's embellishing right now, telling the "real" story. Probably tossing in a couple obscure movie lines...

correct. however, i raise you: mac reading something that is very common knowledge and jack pretending he does not know what it means to ge a rise out of him. the face on the person to the right just gives jack vibes to me idk. imagine the person on the left is not being silly but instead is mildly annoyed but still bantering. consider for a moment:

what secrets does mac tell? perhaps there's something stupid like "don't mix cleaning products" and jack is like "whaaat? man, cmon, they got us doin' all this work and we *can't* mix a little bleach and baking soda?" and mac looks at him like the person on the left like "are you actually joking."

Just being incredibly normal about this episode. Per usual.
