hi, a lot of you need a perspective reset

  • the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years
  • taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult
  • at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)
  • 'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65
  • it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age
  • it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.
  • you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.
  • young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!
  • there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big

shout out to the people in the notes saying "this is so true except actually middle age starts in your 30s and ends at 50". you are completely wrong and you're the target of this post, get help.

funniest response so far is that middle age is actually 35-50 but that you're not 'old' until you're over 60. great news for that decade in between. category error, you're young again.

Hey, my girlfriend just got cut off her food stamps. If anyone wants to help us eat this month, these are my links:

  • CashApp $regicide1997
  • Venmo @/regicide1997
  • PayPal @/hopedanielgerst

Hi, we need help

I've been sick these past few days (kissed too many pretty girls over spring break, age old story), but I'm recovering now

Plus over $100 owed to PayPal next month, and $391 owed to the federal government before April 15th… I'm just screwed, aren't I?

I get paid ~$1800/mo after taxes, of which $800 goes to rent, and I also owe $420 to my university's bursar office, due April 5th. I've already covered the $122.68 utility bill, and I spent a little under $100 on groceries today, but short of a fucking miracle, I'll be $300 in the hole by the end of April. Kaleigh's already overdrafted (not sure how much), which means she won't be able to contribute as much when her SSI hits.

Happy TDOV, my girlfriend just lost SSI, we're totally fucked!

Photos of me being pretty in case it helps:

Have you lost a family member and felt the pain of regret and loss?! 😭

I hope you don't; for me this is our reality. Every day we lose someone we love 💔😔

Last year I lost my uncle and his entire family in a missile attack on his displacement site in Rafah, and Al Jazeera YouTube reported.

Today, I am in pain as I miss the dearest to my heart, my father, who suffered from a stroke that caused him quadriplegia. He could not cope with the catastrophic life as we lived in a tent that was like a grave. His weak body was exposed to malnutrition as a result of not providing the necessary food for his condition, and the severe cold caused him to have a heart attack that led to his immediate death.

I wake up terrified every night. I check on my family, whom I fear will die of cold 🥶😰

And it was not limited to this, but our tent that shelters my family, children, and my brother Samer, who suffers from a chronic illness, was flooded and swept away under the dirt as a result of the heavy rains. Our tent has become worn out and does not protect us from the winds and rain ⛈️⛺

Please save What's left of us, share with us, and if you can, a donation can save an entire family from death ❣️🙏

🌍✨ A Voice from Gaza: Fighting for Hope ❤️‍🩹

Hi, my name is Mosab , and I’m from Gaza. Life here has been harder than I could ever imagine, but today I’m sharing my story with hope in my heart, because your kindness has already given us so much strength.

This journey hasn’t been easy. The war has taken 25 family members from us—25 beautiful souls we loved deeply. Their laughter, their presence, their love… all of it is gone, leaving behind memories that are both precious and painful. Every day, I carry the weight of their loss, but I also carry their spirit, which gives me the strength to keep going.

Our Journey So Far

When I first reached out, I couldn’t have imagined we’d make it this far. Your support has been a light in these difficult times, and we are so deeply grateful for every single contribution.

But the road ahead is still challenging. Every day, we’re reminded of how much we’ve lost and how much we still need to rebuild.

Here’s what life in Gaza looks like for my family right now:

🏠 Safety: The uncertainty of tomorrow weighs heavily on us.

😢 Loss: The absence of the 25 family members we’ve lost is a pain we carry every moment.

💔 Dreams on Hold: The future feels so far away when survival takes all our strength.

How You Can Help Us Cross the Finish Line Even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference:

  • $5 may seem small, but for us, it’s a little relief, a moment of comfort, and a reminder that kindness still exists. ❤️
  • Can’t donate? Reblog this post to help us reach someone who can. Every share matters more than you know.

Why Your Support Matters Your kindness isn’t just about helping us meet our goal—it’s about reminding us that we’re not alone in this fight. It’s about hope. It’s about survival. And it’s about giving my family a chance to rebuild our lives, even in the face of unimaginable loss.

Thank you for helping us get this far. Your generosity and compassion have already brought us closer to a better tomorrow, and for that, I’m endlessly grateful.

With all my love and gratitude,

Mosab and Family ❤️

I don’t know how to explain this pain in words. But if you’re reading this, I need you to listen. 25 of my family members are gone. The war didn’t just take their lives—it took our future.

We are still fighting to survive. With no home, no income, and nowhere safe to go, we are asking for your kindness.

💔 $5,000 for the father.

💔 $5,000 for the mother.

💔 $2,500 for Khaled.

💔 $2,500 for Intesar.

📌 The rest will help us hold on to what little we have left.

MYANMAR RELIEF AFTER EARTHQUAKE

I have seen calls to donations for the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and World Central Kitchen. Here are two other, smaller associations you might not have heard of. They are not linked to the government and work onsite with local partners.

Doh Eain: a social business that is very well connected to grassroots organisations and is doing a special fundraising. They already successfully coordinated relief after typhoon Yagi last year, and have local architects on their team.

Sonne: If you're like me, you might find pictures of helpful white people surrounded by smiling locals a little aggravating. But Sonne Myanmar is a trustworthy org with a lot of experience.

Any help is appreciated.

What Strength Really Means 💪

Hey everyone, my name is Abdelmajed. I don’t usually talk much about myself, but today, I want to share a little piece of my story.

I was born and raised in Gaza, a place that has always been my home 🏡. I grew up surrounded by my family, my friends, and the streets that I knew like the back of my hand. Life wasn’t always easy, but we had love, laughter, and dreams. I used to think that no matter what happened, home would always be here. But life has a way of changing things in ways we never expect.

Over the past months, everything I once knew has disappeared. The streets that were once filled with children playing are now silent. The houses that held so many memories are now just rubble. And the people I loved—some of them are gone forever. 💔

**Time is Running Out**

Imagine enduring a harsh winter in a tent made of tarpaulin, with nothing to shield you from the elements.

Every day brings the threat of freezing temperatures, and rainwater can flood our small space, putting us at risk of drowning. The cold can lead to serious health issues, such as chest infections and chronic illnesses.

I am pleading for help to save my family from this life-threatening situation.

Please, we need your support to escape this danger and find a safe place to live.

Hi everyone ...
I am Maram Al-Nabulsi, I currently live in the completely destroyed 🏚🚀city of Gaza, specifically Khan Younis. Since the war on Gaza began on 10/7/2023, my family - my father Muhammad, my mother Hiba and my siblings Nour, Maram, Mahmoud - have been living in constant fear, crying and suffering because of shrapnel, shells and bullets. We have no food🥘🌯, no electricity, no cooking gas, no schools🏢📚, no homes🏚, no cleaning supplies, no clothes🧣🧥🧤. Our house was completely destroyed. My school was bombed, and my sister Nour's university was turned into rubble, which deprived us all of education. The war forced us to live in displacement centers, which are just tents that are not suitable for living, especially in winter. Every day we live death, terror and panic a thousand times because of the continuous bombing of my city. The war has killed more than 50 of my relatives and neighbors. At the beginning of the war, we took refuge in my aunt's house, but it was also turned into rubble. Imagine: We have escaped imminent death more than 20 times, and have been displaced between shelters more than 13 times. My brothers and I have suffered from many diseases due to malnutrition, and we need medicine constantly. If we stay in Gaza, we may lose our lives. Recently, we have been seriously considering leaving Gaza to a safe place. However, the travel costs are very high. We need more than 70 thousand dollars to leave Gaza. Due to the exorbitant prices, rampant unemployment, insecurity, the ongoing blockade, and the continuous bombing, we have lost all our money. How can we live in such insecurity💔🙏, with the constant bombing and shrapnel flying above us? My dear compassionate friends around the world, with your generous donations, even if small, you can save 5 people from imminent death, allowing us to start a life outside Gaza full of love, peace, and hope. Best regards from Gaza City....🍉🇵🇸

🚨Urgent and important appeal🚨

‼️‼️The crossing is closed‼️‼️

I'm Wasim from Gaza, as you know the crossings are closed and the situation is very difficult, everything is expensive, we cannot afford any food or gas and we are in the holy month of Ramadan and we fast for 15 hours and we cannot break our fast because of the high cost of food...😭😞

As you can see, we do not have cooking gas because the crossings are closed, and we suffer a lot when cooking...😔😭‼️

My mother also needs medicine and vitamins, but she cannot buy them because they are expensive due to the closure of the crossings and the scarcity of the quantity.😭

‼️Help us and donate so that we can break our fast in this blessed month and so that my mother can receive her vitamins...😔🤲🫂‼️

A prominent computer scientist who has spent 20 years publishing academic papers on cryptography, privacy, and cybersecurity has gone incommunicado, had his professor profile, email account, and phone number removed by his employer, Indiana University, and had his homes raided by the FBI. No one knows why. ... Fellow researchers took to social media over the weekend to register their concern over the series of events. "None of this is in any way normal," Matthew Green, a professor specializing in cryptography at Johns Hopkins University, wrote on Mastodon. He continued: "Has anyone been in contact? I hear he’s been missing for two weeks and his students can’t reach him. How does this not get noticed for two weeks???" In the same thread, Matt Blaze, a McDevitt professor of computer science and law at Georgetown University, said: "It's hard to imagine what reason there could be for the university to scrub its website as if he never worked there. And while there's a process for removing tenured faculty, it takes more than an afternoon to do it."

Together we can achieve our goal in one day and provide crucial support to my family and children in Gaza

Your contribution means everything to us and in these difficult times your kindness is our greatest hope. We are very grateful for any help you can provide and thank you for your kindness and generosity in our time of need

We have lost everything we have in Gaza from home, work and a decent life and my children have lost their most basic rights to education and treatment and not providing them with the minimum necessities of life

We live in a tent in very cold weather and in extremely difficult conditions

In these days, with the so-called ceasefire, nothing has changed for my children and my family. The situation is very tragic

My children need your generous donation that will change our lives for the better

Every passing moment, the situation in Gaza worsens. We are over two million people living in dire conditions, where obtaining food and water has become nearly impossible. The crossings are closed, and we are left with only a few available resources, while food prices rise day by day. There is no electricity, and the groundwater is polluted, with no way to access it due to the lack of power needed to pump it. Our lives have become a nightmare.

What makes our suffering worse is the continuous sounds of bombings and planes flying overhead without end. We don’t know where the next strike will come from, and anxiety grips every family. All of this makes life harder than anyone could imagine.

We are in desperate need of help and ask for any donation you can provide. Your contribution could mean the difference between life and death for us. This help might allow us to access food or safe drinking water and give us a chance to survive under these harsh conditions. My family and I are relying on your support to endure this difficult time.
