The double standards in this fandom kill me.

Tamlin can lock Feyre in a house, emotionally manipulate her, and subject her to literal domestic abuse, Lucien can sit there and tell Feyre to not even bother trying to escape her abuser, and then try to drag her back to him against her will. They can take Elain and Nesta to Hybern without knowing—or caring—if they’d survive. Yet some of y’all will still call them “misunderstood.”

But, after unimaginable trauma, Feyre says one slightly insensitive thing? Or Elain doesn’t immediately pick up a sword and chooses kindness over confrontation? Suddenly, they’re selfish and useless. Every action, every word, is dissected, criticized, and deemed unforgivable. The same grace that is extended to literal antagonists is nowhere to be found for the women who fought, bled, and sacrificed to save their world.

It’s giving internalized misogyny. The female characters people do support tend to only earn that support by rejecting traditionally “feminine” traits. Being cold, combative, arrogant etc. Even the feminist male characters are starting to get hated on. They’re scrutinized for every little thing that isn’t considered “feminist enough,” while the actual bad guys get a pass.

Hold everyone accountable, sure—but maybe examine why the bar for forgiveness is on the floor for some while others are expected to jump through flaming hoops.

The shit people say about, and project onto Feyre and Rhys, will always be the #1 reason I hate this fandom.

Anti elriels are a point of contention for me but everything they believe is so baseless and this has been proven time and time again over the years. The only reason gwynriels have existed as long as they have is because we haven’t received a new book in 4 years. But best believe that if we did and there was another side character introduced they’d switch up for the 600th time lol.

No, the Feyre and Rhys hate is my line in the sand. If you’re someone who crosses it, I do NOT fuck with you.

I have seen so many weirdos on this app and tiktok project their internalized misogyny onto Feyre for becoming a mother, make fun of her not being literate in the first two books, diminish her skills as an artists, call her selfish and arrogant, and find ways to make everything that’s ever happened to other characters, Feyre’s fault.

Feyre went her entire life not knowing what love was, was never shown it. She was emotionally abused by her mother until she died, that abuse was the carried on by nesta for another 10 years, and then when she was taken from her family, was subjected to DV for months. Never experiencing love was the reason she couldn’t solve the riddle in book one. Then finally, after 20 years, she finds people who show and give her unconditionally love. In return she becomes their family and their high lady, and every thing she does for the rest of her life is for them, for her court, family, and mate.

Then she decides that she does want to become a mother. That she doesn’t want to keep waiting on life regardless of the fact that she is immortal. She’s waited on other people and circumstances her entire life and she doesn’t want to cast aside her desires any longer.

Any anyone who uses this against her does not fundamentally understand Feyre and you choose to be intentionally ignorant in your assessment and characterization of her.

As for Rhys hate, this is clearly only popular because he loves his mate and doesn’t take shit from anyone who’s abused her or was complicit in her abuse. He has also suffered at the hands of other people for decades. He was assaulted and violated for 50 years as a form of retaliation against the decisions his father he made in time of war, which mind you, Rhys himself had NO control over. In the end, he always first and foremost a dreamer. Only ever wanted to do his part in rebuilding the world to be a safe place for everyone in it. Not just for his court, but all courts, those on the continent, and in the human lands. He died for it. What did your faves do?

I’ll always defend and love feysand because they’re the heart and soul of this series. Neither of them deserve the psychotic hate that is spread about them in online acotar circles. And if anyone says “they’re just fictional characters” “they’re not real” then why the fuck do you speak about them in such a vile way as if they are and are the worst people to ever exist?

If you are a feysand hater, I don’t fuck with you. Period.

You said people disliking Nesta was misogynistic but I went through your account and you have posts trying to blame a woman for the domestically abusive relationship she was in all while infantilizing her abuser? Stones and glass houses….

I’ll be happy whenever people stop weaponizing Nesta and using her as a way to bring down other characters or pit her against others. There’s no reason for Nesta and her sisters to be constantly compared in a way that directly uplifts Nesta but brings down Feyre and Elain🫤. And stop making every anti ic post wrote in a narrative that demonizes them but uplifts Nesta. If you really loved Nesta and believe her to be good, you shouldn’t have to do this.

Another thing- this is solely my opinion but it doesn’t sit right with me when someone claims they are pro Nesta but are anti acosf. Acosf is NESTAS book for fucks sake. If you hate it, it’s like saying you hate her journey and everything that was important for her healing arc. You can have your criticism of it but actually hating everything about it to the point of writing a completely different version that erases everything meaningful in Nesta’s story is insane and pure anti behavior. The cassian hate is a whole other topic, but it’s just as misinformed and taken out of context too. Nesta and Cassian have a mating bond, something that makes them equals in every way as well as a soul that mirrors one another. For me hating cassian is sort of like hating Nesta too. I’ve had multiple people tell me they have felt manipulated by the anti side into hating certain characters, this isn’t okay. Theories and opinions are two different things.

And I agree that people who like Nesta don’t have to like cassian/nessian, but I do have an issue with people who legitimately believe in canon Nesta should be with a man she saw as punishment. I think nessian still have work to do as a couple, I think they’ll figure that out together and will be better for one another and individually, but I stand by my opinion they have been the most realistic and honest acotar pairing we’ve seen yet. I’ve read acosf multiple times now, they have some issues in their relationship they still are learning how to be better for one another, but they are not as bad or toxic as the fandom makes them out to be. I believe they’ll have character and couple growth in the upcoming books, it’s something I’m excited for.

Reminder that the terms “abuse” and “sexual assault” are legitimate real world concepts that should not just be thrown around simply because a character does something you don’t agree with or don’t understand.

Also I love Nesta and I’m number one to defend her but I’m not gonna excuse everything she has done, she’s been a bitch so has everyone else but she’s proven time and time again that she is good at heart and is trying to be better for herself and those she loves. She’s not evil, and she was a child too when everything went downhill. Her trauma has caused her to lash out, and it’s not an excuse, but it is the reason why she was mean to others. She feels everything on a much greater spectrum and is still learning how to handle that. She’s still healing.

Lastly, even though I know I’m about to have many block me and unfollow me for this, the Pro Nesta side of the fandom needs to do some work on their behavior as well as the other side of the fandom. I’ve seen just as many pro Nesta’s comment on posts that have nothing to do with her and make an issue. I’ve seen just as many pro Nesta’s be misogynistic towards Feyre and Elain as I’ve seen the other half be to Nesta. I’ve seen just as many pro Nesta’s take out of context and change the narrative as I have seen the other side do. You cannot complain about the other side doing it when you are doing the exact same thing.

See this right here is part of what almost killed me last summer. I had other stuff going on mentally but seeing in my inbox over and over again negative things the monsters in my head were saying too just pushed. Pushed so far I was ready, made a plan, and waited for my family to leave the house so I could be alone to go through with my plan. Kind people saved me from myself but there are too many unkind people out there who are pushing and pushing those already on the edge. Stop pushing before you cause someone to go over that edge. It doesn’t solve anything, it just causes problems for people you don’t even know about.

This really puts things into perspective. To anyone who may be facing this: I believe in you.

Humans can be so cruel, this actually breaks my heart. Spread love, not fear, hate and pain. We are all in this world together, and deserve to be here, there isn’t a good reason for us to hate one another so much
