LOL well apologies because there is a little bit of context that needs to be given;
My Paladin, Kestrel, is a homebrew Aasimar variant called a Vigil which is basically a guardian angel meant to protect 1 specific person and if that person dies so does the Vigil. Her backstory essentially involves this happening, but instead of staying dead her soul was haphazardly put back together and revived by a fledgling god.
For a long time this (understandably) left her very depressed, confused and angry because she should be dead. Her arc led her to heal through the party, meet her current love interest because of the nature of this god (she is high matron of a temple to the Raven Queen,) rescue said god and has recently culminated in reuniting with her family that she allowed to think she was dead for a year.
So upon returning back to their city of operations and experiencing a lot of Big Emotions Kestrel slaps Shanalotte with
“A lot of people would say that the fact that I am alive and standing here is a miracle. But I think my real miracle was meeting you.”
