I’m gonna be so fr, I haven’t been doing a lot of writing lately because I’ve been having ✨PC problems✨ and it’s causing me an undue amount of stress 😂 so y’all will probably have read all of my next chapter before it’s even out!
Below is my excerpt!

Rue drew in a sharp breath at the mention of the case, hurriedly smoothing out the wrinkles in her top and stepping out of the car, box in hand, as Lydia rounded the corner. Despite the heat, she was dressed in a prim navy blue pantsuit, not a single dark hair out of place in the sleek ponytail sitting atop her head.
“Hm? Yes, I’ll see you Saturday- what do you mean Fausto’s not coming? You know she’d be appalled if she knew.” Lydia’s gaze darted up, catching sight of Rue, and her eyes widened briefly. “Look. We’ll speak tonight. Business calls, as usual.” She blinked a few times, a shadow of frustration ghosting across her face as she rolled her eyes. “Yes, I will - don’t be stupid. Goodbye.”
“Somewhere more important to be?” Rue raised an eyebrow.
Lydia let out a sigh, stowing her phone in her purse. “My father apparently has nothing better to do than bother me.” She shook her head. “If it weren’t for the inheritance he’s leaving me, I’d be ignoring his calls.” The woman tilted her head, keenly eyeing the box. “I see you managed just fine.”
If ‘just fine’ means beating Minrathous’ most persistent detective to the punch at the crack of dawn, then sitting in a parking lot like a well-behaved dog waiting for its next meal.
Instead, she plastered a smile across her face. “Right as rain.”
“Everything went as planned?”
Rue tilted her head. “…more or less.” She waved her free hand. “Nothing I couldn’t handle, though.”
A devious little smile crossed Lydia’s features. “Portia’s going to be absolutely livid when she finds out.”
“I’m willing to bet that she already knows.”
“Really?” The woman raised a brow.
“With the detective she hired?” Rue huffed a laugh. “Surprised you haven’t heard from her yet. She’s…” She paused for a moment, mind searching. “Prompt.”

I like writing Neve's POV because it's like 4 paragraphs of inner monologue only for to say, "okay."
All I know is, if I don't say I love you this time, I'll regret it.

I’ve never played the “friendship” version of this scene, but there’s a fascinating moment before Neve and Rook collect stones, when dinner has failed and the contacts have gone home, and Neve just stands awkwardly against the overcast grey sky. “What happens now?” she asks, as if she half-guesses the answer.
And a flirty Rook says, “Anything you want.”
Which is, of course, exactly what Neve is afraid of. 💕

Annnd now for something completely different (but totally the same) lol.
My Rook lives up to Neve's nickname for her, and is constantly teasing and terrorizing the other companions -- which the detective thinks is cute, mostly. But Neve Gallus, collector of unanswered questions, stray wisps, and elvhen fangirls, will fight anyone who messes with Bellara... so. Here we are. 😅💕
