talk to me about art!

This is the worst Eid I have ever experienced in my entire life. I lost all my friends in the war and I am left alone here suffering from the pain of loss. I used to go and visit my friends, but today I went to their homes and found their mothers collapsing from crying and grieving over the loss of their sons. We used to meet and go out and spend a pleasant time together, but unfortunately today I went and visited them in the cemetery and sat next to them all day crying from the intensity of my pain and regret. How difficult this feeling is for me and I cannot bear it!!! 😭

Hey guys. Since my last post about Mona's mutual aid project, she's completed many initiatives with the donations! Her latest one was the distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables, something that is now possible with the entry of aid trucks! Please do not hesitate to donate if you can spare anything! Every single dollar counts. P*ypal link.

(If you live in India or Pakistan and want to donate, contact her through the means listed on her account).

I fixed one of the donation links! Please reblog this version!!

THE PAIN IS UNBEARABLE

They killed the children in the early morning of the Eid

Instead of wearing new clothes for Eid, children have been wrapped in shrouds, making it the last thing they will ever wear in their lives.

If it doesn't matter for you to see us die, do nothing but If you would like to see us alive please donate here and share

This is how Eid feels in Gaza now… no joy, no safety, no celebration. My children, instead of wearing new Eid clothes, are wrapped in fear and hunger. Those who left us were covered in shrouds instead of festive outfits. What crime have they committed to be deprived of even a simple smile on Eid? We are trapped between bombing and destruction, struggling to survive. Your donation now can ease some of our pain and help bring a small moment of joy to our children in the midst of this darkness.

moss mfriday #3: Glacier Mice

That's right - it's glacier mice. One of my favorite things maybe on the entire planet. Let's talk about these freaky fuzzy little rats!!

Glacier mice are balls of moss that live in large herds like this in a few select glaciers. They are moss all the way through, with a center consisting of dead moss matter, implying that they begin as small growths of moss and simply accumulate over time, like snowballs. However, their outside surface is alive and well on all sides. Glacier mice have been observed, through tagging and tracking, to roll across the glacier like a majestic herd of wildebeest, exposing all of their sides to the sunlight. They trundle along at a pace of about 2.5 cm per day. That's 30 feet in a year! They're really schmovin'! Certainly further than most mosses can claim to travel.

What's really exciting, though, is that they all move in the same direction, and we're not sure why or how. Scientists experimented to try and attribute their coordinated behavior to wind, sunlight, and the direction that their grazing ground slopes, but to no avail. They speed up, slow down, and change direction in unison, based on some mysterious moss code that we haven't cracked yet.

Cross-section of a glacier mouse. Note the dead moss matter inside, and the short gametophytes on the outside, adapted to harsh winds and sunlight. [image credit]

We have figured out how they roll, though - while the moss ball sits on the ice, it insulates the ice directly underneath it, protecting it from melting. This forms a little pillar of ice that the moss eventually rolls off of. The insulating power of glacier mice also gives it the wonderful ability to host all kinds of microorganisms that otherwise wouldn't survive the glacier's harsh conditions, and their ability to move makes it possible for microorganisms to spread from one habitable spot to another. They're like a bunch of little tardigrade passenger ships, braving the dangerous glacier to go where no water bear has gone before!!

Glacier mice have been found to consist of several moss species, most of which must reproduce asexually in order to survive in the dry climate. They've been observed to live for at least six years, but are projected to live much, much longer. I love them. So much. I hope they know that I love them!! I LOVE THEM!!!!

Please help my friend Siraj. I can't tell how shameful it is that the only thing I can do is reblog his posts while he and his family are facing bombings. Almost two years of a genocide and no one held Israel accountable. Please help however you can either by boosting or donating.

This Ramadān has been a specially rough one for Palestinians, as the Zionist state have been sieging towns and refugee camps all across the West Bank as well as baring aid and supply trucks from entering the Gaza Strip out of made-up claims regarding the safety of hostages held by the Gazauī resistance that outright contradict the very tangible healthiness of those already returned, despite having also been bombed by the IOF and knowingly so.

Gazauīs are held captives both by the Strip-wide lockdown, and by being abused, tortured, and neglected across Zionist carceral sites. And with Zionists having resumed bombardments on absolutely helpless people, I wonder whether only a miracle can help them. But Palestinians still try to get whatever they can, such is @aburakhiaibrahim's case.

He's reached out hoping there can be something done to help him and his loved ones from this end, or through this site's interface. I truly fear for their fate given how things are developing right now in Gaza. I've prayed Allāh ﷻ extends His mercy upon them ever since he first messaged me looking for help, but I know solidarity and tangible actions are the means to that help instead of just "thoughts and prayers."

Could you please, friends, help me spread Ibrahim's petition around, so that he and his loved ones —Allāh willing, وْشَاءَ ٱللَّٰه—can get somewhere safe and away from Zionists' reach? Their campaign hasn't developed much over these months, so this is a fairly urgent plead.

أَمِانِ ٱللَّٰه عَلَيْكُمْ وَالتَّوْڢِيْكْ

Unfortunately, the bombing has been renewed violently, and there is no food due to the closure of the crossings. I sincerely need your support to face the difficulties. I thank everyone who stood with me and my family.🙏💔

This campaign is vetted

This campaign appears as #336 on this list made by @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi

It has also been promoted in a post by @/gaza-evacuation-funds here

(I am not a vetter, I am just passing on the information I have found)

☝🙏

My friends, I come to you with a broken heart. The situation has become catastrophic from the war and the lack of food. I truly need you, my friend, to face the difficulties.💔

‼️The war is back,We are under bombardment‼️

As you know, after spending a year and a half under genocide, we are now back at war again. Bombings are everywhere, martyrs are everywhere, everything is dull, the crossing is closed, there are no goods or medicine, and the prices are exorbitant. 😭😔

At this moment, there are more than 500 martyrs and the number is still increasing.😞 Every martyr is a dream. More than 500 dreams have been killed.😭😞

We will die at any moment, don't leave us alone, we need you, you are our last hope, donate to save me and my family...‼️‼️‼️

JUST DONATE ‼️🙏

[Image Description: A simple illustrated gif showing Ibrahim, a young Palestinian man, next to the words "Save Ibrahim's Family; Donate Today! End description.]

I am writing this on behalf of my friend Ibrahim @aburakhiaibrahim. Ibrahim is only 20, but instead of getting to study, work, or enjoy his life, he is living through a genocide.

Ibrahim and his family of 28 are living in the ruins of their home. They are all exhausted and hungry, suffering from the lack of food and other basic necessities and aid in Ghazzah.

As well as this, since the war began again, they have to live in constant fear of bombing. Recently, Ibrahim attempted to film a video, but the sound of bombing was too loud to speak or be heard over.

[Video Description: A short video recorded by Ibrahim, a young man in Ghazzah. He is facing the camera and tries to speak, but the loud sound of a bomb going off startles him. He speaks some works in Arabic as the sound continues. End description.]

Ibrahim and his family need donations to afford basic necessities to survive during this dangerous and unjust situation. Unfortunately, donations are often slow. They have been fundraising for over a year at this point, but they still have yet to reach even 40% of their goal.

Please, share and donate, help to Ibrahim and his family! Your donations and efforts in sharing their campaign make a difference.

please consider helping ghada's family (@ghadah-almadhoun). ghada has been trying to raise funds for her and her family for many months now but their campaign has been progressing very slowly. they are receiving roughly one donation every couple of days- this isn't nearly enough for them to be able to sustain themselves on. ghada has already lost her husband because of the violence and suffering that israel has inflicted upon palestine, and she and her children need our help to continue to survive. the currency for this campaign is in AUD, so please keep in mind that if you're in the U.S your money will go particularly far. $10 USD= $16 AUD.

ghada's campaign has been vetted and shared here (no. 330) gofundme link here

let's help this wonderful family as much as we can!

donations remain very slow, please hep ghadah!

I am in desperate need amid these difficult circumstances we are living in, with no food or water available. Prices are extremely high, and resources are scarce.

Please help us 🙏

Please help by sharing and donating! $10 USD = approx $16 AUD.

We are alive but without a life, struggling to survive amid hunger, thirst, and no safety. We desperately need help to start another journey of displacement. Please donate to save us 😭😭

Please, PLEASE help!

I know that asking for donations is not easy, and I sincerely apologize for it, but the reality we are living in has become unbearable. My family and I are suffering from a severe shortage of everything, and the situation is getting harder day by day.

Please help us 🙏

The way the world treats us, the way we've been punished in every possible way since the beginning of our lives, and now they move us around like chess pieces. They wanted us there, then they wanted us to leave, then to stay, as if we have no will of our own. Can you imagine what that does to us, as the people of Gaza? As if we're not human beings. Some people romanticize our suffering, turning us into symbols or superheroes, while others see us as nothing, as objects to be moved from place to place. Can you imagine the impact of this on those who have physically survived this genocide? How we see ourselves?

How we see the way the world sees us? We are treated as everything except human beings.

My family are living now on the rubble of our destroyed house since they returned to northern Gaza without the minimum necessities of life, with no shelter or tent, without food or water! They just light a fire and gather around it to keep warm. Please don’t leave us alone with this suffering. This is not a human life and everyone has abandoned us and the people.

shared by 90-ghost, See screenshot of @90-ghost’s reblog of their gfm fundraiser below

The planes in the sky above us are flying densely. They are preparing to seize their targets shortly, as usual. They are taking their daily share of lives, blood, and the bodies of children sleeping peacefully. We do not know who will be next. But now everyone is equal under the siege and starvation in the tents.

UPDATE: NEW LINK! Yahya and his family were displaced by the IOF, and are currently residing in Deir al-Balah, south-central Gaza.

Life as displaced Gazans was already extremely difficult for them. Food is very scarce, and their living conditions leave them exposed to the elements. Here is the frequent condition of their tent now that the winter rains have come:

Then, Yahya’s father was injured. Some cartilage was damaged in his neck, and doctors say he requires IMMEDIATE surgery to avoid permanent paralysis.

Yahya and his family previously had another campaign, but it was suddenly shut down by GFM with no explanation. They have created a new one, but it has EXTREMELY LOW FUNDS.

The surgery is a stifling €15,000 euros (about $15,729 USD). Yahya and his family have no hope of paying for it without your help.

I am currently watching an elderly loved one lose their mobility, and it is an extremely heartbreaking and isolating situation. I cannot imagine what Yahya and his family are going through, having no social or financial support and only minimal medical care.

Please give what you can to this family. You are their only hope to save their beloved father’s mobility!

Major update on Yahya’s little brother Omar

As discussed previously, Omar remains hospitalized with severe burns. You all raised €700 EUR to attain burn ointment for the immediate treatment of his wounds. Thank you.

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of Omar’s treatment journey.

At just 7 years old, little Omar has third-degree burns over much of his small body due to the IOF attack. The burns are severe in that they burned through his skin, through his ligaments and muscles, and down to his very bones. To say this little boy is in constant, excruciating pain would be a gross understatement.

The pain is not his only problem. The damage to his skin is so severe that his body is unable to heal itself. He requires a skin graft in order to transplant new skin that will be able to regrow.

Without this, Omar’s extensive wounds will remain exposed for a very, very long time. This makes him extremely vulnerable to a catastrophic infection, and his body will be unable to fight it off. Infections are widespread in Gaza right now due to the IOF’s destruction of sanitation infrastructure and the scarcity of antibiotics and other medicines.

This means that at virtually any time, Omar could contract an infection and die. He URGENTLY needs this skin graft so he can finally start to heal!

Please share the campaign widely, donate if you can, and share Omar’s story with your friends and loved ones in real life!! A little boy’s life is at stake!!

Current: €3,134 EUR

New temporary goal: €6,134 EUR

Need to raise: €3,000 EUR (about $3,081 USD)

🚨🚨UPDATE!!!🚨🚨

You all raised the preliminary $1,500 for Omar’s skin graft! Thank you so much❤️

As described here, there is is still about $1,500 USD to pay on the bill, and it must be paid in the next 2 months

Current: €4,871 out of €6,134 EUR

Need to raise: €1,263 EUR (about $1,302 USD)

yahya has informed me that despite all of the money that we raised, omar was only able to have a partial operation. he was able to have skin grafts on 60% of the burns he had, but they weren't able to afford the last 40%

due to all the high living costs of basic food and water, they were not able to pay for the rest

the rest of the operation costs €800 - after the 30% fees, this means they will need about €1,150

i have set the temporary goal accordingly, and hopefully we will be able to raise enough for the rest of omar's operation. i will keep updating if we need more once we hit this goal

€6,188 / €7,333

€6,458 / €7,633

yahya's family has now been told they need to move their camp in the midst of these bombings. that would cost €150 - i have heard from other families that the current people exchanging digital money for physical cash now ask for 50% fees.

if yahya's family also needs to pay in physical currency, they likely need €300.

i have added this amount to the temporary goal - of that €300, currently €65 has been raised

please help salem!!!

salem is a 26 year old gazan who, before the current aggression, owned a workshop for cars and a car wash. his home, businesses, and life have been destroyed by the iof. and if that weren't already terrible, he was hit in the spine with shrapnel, leaving him paralyzed and wheelchair-bound. miraculously, and thankfully, salem has been able to be evacuated to sweden. but his treatment and recovery are expensive and risky. having spent all his money just getting out of the strip, he has nothing remaining for his treatment.

his campaign is CRITICALLY low on funds and it began in january

please help if you are able! or pass this along to someone who can <3

!!!!!!!!!!

this fundraiser hasn't received any donations in 7 days (3/26)

so i donated $9/kr90 today. match me?
