Hear me out. Instead of giving me back all my classified documents, Jack Smith can just give me copies of my classified documents. I don’t even want the originals back at this point. Even if they need to stamp every one “COPY”, that’s fine. I’ve got white out

Handwritten copies? Or printed?

Ok but what if they redact the classified info and then copy them?

No matter how bad you think it is, it’s actually worse

Earlier today, the FBI released a detailed list of things they seized at Mar a Lago. In the list, it says they found 49 EMPTY folders marked “classified” in Donald Trump’s personal office.

My guess is, those folders were not empty when they left the White House.

Oh damn. I wonder if a president had the ability to declassify stuff. Weird. Definitely need to care about this hot air some more. THIS time for sure they got Trump, unlike the previous 50 times

Declassify (verb)

/dēˈklasəˌfī/

Ex: I wonder if a president had the ability to declassify stuff

This is clearly the definition of declassify, correct? Or am I missing something here?

You said Donald trump declassified national defense information, which is how he took ownership of it, which is why he had it in his possession

You’re saying Donald trump owns America’s national defense information, because he declassified it

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

i don’t know what you’re talking about or where you got that definition

You don’t understand what I’m talking about, because you have an inherent misunderstanding of the issue at hand.

Donald Trump is under criminal investigation for taking national defense information. National defense information is paid for by the taxpayers, it is owned by the United States government. Donald Trump has no right to take what is owned by the American government. Even declassified, a document doesn’t become the possession of the person who declassified it. It is still owned by the government.

You agree with this. Declassify does not mean “to take ownership or possession of”.

So instead of just saying “he declassified them”, why don’t you try explaining how Donald Trump took lawful possession and ownership of something that is paid for by the American taxpayers.

Because declassification isn’t that process.

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

oh, i see what your issue is. are these original documents or copies?

Are you arguing that he declassified copies?

Or are you accepting that they were originals, because he declassified them?

Can a president declassify a copy?

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

i assume that if something is classified that the copies are just as much classified. and that if you declassify something, the copies are also up for grabs. but the most most important thing: i don’t really care about state secrets coming out “if you did nothing wrong, you have no reason to hide”

That doesn’t answer my question.

Did Donald trump declassify the originals, or the copies?

If he declassified the originals, you’re conceding that he had possession of original documents. Documents that are owned by the state.

If he declassified the copies, you now have to explain why he made copies of top secret national defense information.

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

what kinda nonsense are you talking about

he would have declassified the originals when he still worked for the state also, you didn’t read the last part i said: stealing government information is good actually lol. i’m sorry that you’re just dumb on multiple levels

So Donald trump declassified the originals, made copies of the documents, and then took them home with him.

That would actually be an extraordinarily convincing criminal defense, provided Donald trump has the documentation and evidence to prove it as fact.

I’m certain a jury of his peers would aquit

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

i mean, it’s the most logical process. it’s in his powers as president to do so and i hope the jury aquits him anyway because i don’t believe in the law

But to be clear, he also copied the cover sheets. And affixed them to the copies. Because that’s the most logical process to copying and declassifying national defense information

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

you’re so right. the book at the library is also always the original book and stealing from the government is still cool. remember when snowden did it?

Edward Snowden fled to Russia after being charged by the DOJ, are you sure this is the example you wish to bring to the table

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

yes. because his “crime” was revealing the crimes that the government committed. if you’re against that, you’re just a bootlicker and i won’t continue this conversation

Your original statement was a defense of Donald trump in the form of “he declassified them”

I picked you apart. And you’re now calling me a boot locker for some opinionated ideology of yours.

Honestly, you should end the conversation. Because at this point you are just embarrassing yourself

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

oh yea no. i still think he could have declassified them. i don’t care if he “stole” the files or whatever. i gave you explanations for whatever you said. copies can be nicely made. i’m also saying that even if he committed a crime, i don’t care.

i’ve answered your silly little questions. you stopped asking more, so i wouldn’t say you picked me apart

i’ve also been saying i don’t care about the state since response 2 or something. you didn’t pick anything apart actually. i’m reading back and you just abandoned the subject to go after my secondary point. as le redditors say, i have won the internets today!

fucking lmao, you’re a fool. come back when they actually arrest or charge him with something unlike the 50 other time they totally had him for crimes against humanity or whatever the russia hoax was

You didn’t give me any explanations, you gave me your opinions and what you think happened without any supplemental info or supporting evidence. You simply made a claim, and then when I pushed back on it you retreated to “I don’t even care anyways” and an implausible claim that Donald trump copied cover sheets to put over his copied national defense info.

Which is embarrassing and a very poor way of convincing others you are correct.

Avatar
redspyisinthebased

yea like how you did. lol kys

You’re funny. I provided two points of evidence, one confirming the FBI was looking for natl defense information, and another of classified documents that were found in Donald trumps office.

Everything else I’ve claimed has already been factually established here

Telling me to kill myself because you can’t hold up against me is also quite embarrassing

oh, i see what your issue is. are these original documents or copies?

Are you arguing that he declassified copies?

Or are you accepting that they were originals, because he declassified them?

Can a president declassify a copy?

No matter how bad you think it is, it’s actually worse

Earlier today, the FBI released a detailed list of things they seized at Mar a Lago. In the list, it says they found 49 EMPTY folders marked “classified” in Donald Trump’s personal office.

My guess is, those folders were not empty when they left the White House.

Oh damn. I wonder if a president had the ability to declassify stuff. Weird. Definitely need to care about this hot air some more. THIS time for sure they got Trump, unlike the previous 50 times

Declassify (verb)

/dēˈklasəˌfī/

To take possession or ownership of

Ex: I wonder if a president had the ability to declassify stuff

?

This is clearly the definition of declassify, correct? Or am I missing something here?

You said Donald trump declassified national defense information, which is how he took ownership of it, which is why he had it in his possession

You’re saying Donald trump owns America’s national defense information, because he declassified it

i don’t know what you’re talking about or where you got that definition

You don’t understand what I’m talking about, because you have an inherent misunderstanding of the issue at hand.

Donald Trump is under criminal investigation for taking national defense information. National defense information is paid for by the taxpayers, it is owned by the United States government. Donald Trump has no right to take what is owned by the American government. Even declassified, a document doesn’t become the possession of the person who declassified it.

You agree with this. Declassify does not mean “to take ownership or possession of”.

So instead of just saying “he declassified them”, why don’t you try explaining how Donald Trump took lawful possession and ownership of something that is paid for by the American taxpayers.

Because declassification isn’t that process.

I’ll help you out. Donald Trump has no explanation as to how he took lawful possession of America’s national defense information.

Because Donald Trump did not have lawful possession of America’s national defense information
