If your writing makes you smile, write it.

If your writing makes you think, write it.

If your writing keeps you up at night because you can't get it out of your head, write it.

If your writing turns you on, write it.

If your writing makes you sweat, write it.

If your writing makes your heart race, write it.

You don't need anyone's permission to enjoy writing something. You don't need to cater to an audience you don't already have. Or even one you do have. You don't need to keep to a specific niche because you know your readers like it.

Is that new genre calling out to you but you've never written it, so you're uncertain how it'll turn out? Write it.

Challenge yourself. Have fun. Create create create.

The only one that matters in the end is you. Audiences come and they go. People may be upset if you change what you do, but in the end, do you like it more? Then keep at it.

What you do should make you happy. You'll find a new audience. There'll be an audience for your new writing. Just keep pushing forward.

Knife Boops Dot Com

Features List

Main Page:

  • Account Creation: when you click on the knife in the main screen and haven't created an account yet, it'll open up a few inputs where you can input a username, email and password to create an account. Once you have created your account, it'll take you straight to your profile
  • Search Box: once you have created an account, a search box will be visible from the main screen of the website. If you start typing up a username, a button with a thumb up emoji will become visible. When you click it, all of the users with the username typed up will show up on a list below it. Make sure your capitalization is the same as the user's as the search box is case sensitive

Profile Page:

  • User Edit: if you click on the title of the website, you'll be able to edit your profile picture, username and victory cry so long as you're on your own profile (you'll know because your username will show just above the title of the website).
  • Return To Your Profile: if you're on someone else's profile, you'll be able to easily return to your profile by clicking on the title of the website. You'll know if you're on someone else's profile because their username will show above the title and their profile picture will be the one showing behind the booping knife.
  • Booping: When you click on the knife in front of the profile photo, you'll attempt to boop someone. There is a randomizer that uses the numbers 1-5000 to determind whether or not your boop was successful. If it was, your successful boops count will go up and their booped count will go up as well as your attempted boops and their boops attempted on them. If it fails, then your failed boops and their times missed will go up by one. If you succeed, your victory cry will flash on the screen until you have a failed boop or you refresh the page.
  • Notices: below the user stats shows every notice sent to the user by those that attempted to boop them, including what is called "suicide boops," which is boops attempted on onesself. You can click on the notices to go straight to the user who attempted to boop you's profile.
  • Suicide boop stats: on the righthand side of the screen, you can see the page's user's stats on boops attempted on themself. These also create unique messages according to if the boop was successful or failed.

I am also considering adding a trash talk feature. I just don't want to risk inappropriate trash talk to be done to people that don't like that kind of thing, so I might make it a feature that you can opt out of.

Had to shut down the site but hopefully, I'll have the money to pull it back up. Til then, it'll be unusable for now. It'll at least give me time to slowly work on the new features. :)

I will probably be working on some new features tonight since my bf will probably be taking over the TV and I need a break from Don't Starve Together. 😂

I want to start doing something a little different on this blog.

I have (as you've probably noticed) slowed down on my posting. It's kind of because I am running out of ideas on what to say, and partly because I am struggling with positive thinking myself. And partly, as I've previously mentioned, it's due to me going through a lot personally right now.

However.

I still want to help and encourage writers SO...

I'm going to open up my ask box to writers that want shoutouts/to have their blogs/writing highlighted. I'm going to start a series of masterlists by genre and I'll pin a masterlist of all of the masterlists.

I want you to tell me about your writing. Of course let me know the genres. Let me know where the writing can be found (aka via your blog, wattpad, fictionpress, ao3, etc) and just anything you'd want your future readers to know.

I'll start a masterpost of the writers that submit their blogs so that readers can find them if they're looking for writers of certain genres... or just plain new writers if they're not picky.

Also, if you'd like, you can shout out some of your favorite writers, see if we can build up other writers as well as ourselves. :)

Let me know if you have any further ideas to build upon this idea.

Actually, I've created a new blog for this idea, because I do rather want to keep this blog about encouraging but I also do want a means to help out writers with gaining more eyes on their works if there's people who would love your writing but just haven't found you yet.

So if you like this idea, the new blog is writerindex. I'll be listing the blogs there instead of here :]

I might add a generator that if you hit "boop random player" or something similar, it generates a number and according to the number you get, you go to a random person's profile so that you don't have to FIND people to boop them. I feel like maybe that's part of why some people aren't really playing, is they don't have friends on there to play with?

The randomization button works for 20 out of the 38 current users... however, you have to refresh the screen between each time you use it. I haven't been able to figure out why...

Okay, I figured out a way to make it so the page is auto refreshed when you hit the randomizer button so you don't have to refresh it yourself so you can just click through.

Also, all 38 players are randomizable now, so have fun booping unsuspecting randos!

I understood attempted boops but how do you actually stab others? @iloveyou-writers

That is what the attempted boops are. It's a generator that decides whether or not you successfully "boop" (or stab) the other person.

I'm just going to put this here because I feel like the lot of you would have fun with it, due to how tumblr dot com is about the ides of march but uh...

I created a "knife boop" website where you can "boop" each other with knives.

It's live and you can officially create accounts and start booping one another.

Clicking the knife in the profile attempts a boop :)

You can search usernames on the main page, linked above.

You can also "suicide boop" (boop yourself)

I'm also creating a list of users on the website (pinned on my main blog) if you wanna find other users. So far I'm the only one on the list but if anyone wants to send me an ask with their usernames on the site, they're welcome to be added to the list :)

Let yourself have fun!

Even if there's no substance to that fic you're writing, even if it's not meant to stir people's emotions and nothing really happens in it, make it just because you want to.

Writing is a hobby. Key word: hobby. Hobbies are meant to be fun, so if you feel you'd enjoy writing something, do it. Doesn't matter what other reasons you feel there are not to. Write it for the fun. Consider it a fun little writing exercise, if nothing else.

Don't let anxiety kill your inner child.

Let your inner child, who wants to imagine and create and do all the fun things thrive.

Don't let society judging what your interests are kill your inner child.

There is nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgic love for topics.

Write about the things you adored as a child or teenager. Write about the things that you "should have grown out of." Let your inner child thrive and have fun!

Life's too short to let society and other people dictate what you enjoy. So go enjoy it!

Sooo I'm sure you've noticed I've basically put this blog on pause.

Don't worry, I haven't quit entirely, but there's been a lot on my plate, what with me finding out I was pregnant on Christmas Eve and it's been a nonstop rollercoaster since.

a scene can start wherever you want it to

writing isn't real life. You don't need to set up a character walking into a room or two characters greeting each other and talking about the weather or what-have-you in order to lead into the conversation you actually want them to have. just start at the conversation.

hell, start in the middle of the conversation. you could even start at the end and then have one of them leave and the other one left behind to reflect back on what just happened.

writing gets easier when you open yourself up to writing the parts that are interesting, to starting where it's easy instead of where you think you should start.

if it ends up not working? that's okay. you tried it, and sometimes just getting something out of your head is a necessary first step to getting the words right

It is OKAY to have content preferences and to be uncomfortable with certain ships or topics, controversial or not. It is OKAY to distance yourself from such content and block certain tags or creators.
