Hardest part of writing is accepting that some people will not fucking get it & you just have to like cope with that because over-explaining it just makes it worse

I will not over-explain my art to the stupidest people on earth. I'm writing for people who know what I'm talking about. Mantra that will save you. David Lynch was right

one of the most frustrating aspects of genai to me personally is the frequency of those 4 iq political propaganda comics now considering which side is completely embracing it. even ppl like fucking tim pool and user aryanwaifu6000 can create them in 3 seconds. like at least they used to need to put in skill & effort and dedicate an hour of their life at minimum to the worst shit ive ever seen. now they dont. very sad

your latest post on tywin and his refusal to remarry out of love for joanna made me think of something... could it also be an added layer from his daddy issues? he had to watch his father having mistresses and falling for them after his mother's death, with one of them (the second?) making use of her jewels as if she were the new lady of casterly rock. tywin looking at that and not remarrying even for political gain out of love AND spite. at this point the iconic lannister daddy issues are hereditary and he doesn't notice it. gods.

yeah but those were mistresses. tywin’s rage here is about how shes a “thieving harlot” who “exploited his weak willed failure of a father.” she was just the daughter of candle maker, a useless lower class woman who his father gave a lot to (not just gifts but power even), and tywin viewed her with deep rage because she embodied the flaws he sees in tytos. it could be read also with the layer of a woman replacing and disrespecting his mother but i do think that the core w tywin here has to do w her class and the nature of the relationship. like if tytos remarried a lady instead of this for political reasons he wouldve found that the right decision imo so idk if tywin not doing that out of spite adds up to me. the second mistress is viewed and presented by him as a whore, and he punishes her with brutal sexual humiliation. it feels to be about tywin’s insecurity and misogyny and classism and it plays well into the brothel tunnel but idk if i can view a new political marriage in a way where i could find a through line that i am satisfied w lol. it doesnt echo his father and his relationship to mistresses to remarry a high born lady for diplomatically and politically advantageous reasons, and to even get a new heir considering his situation w tyrion and jaime. isnt it all about what is better for house lannister? and if he thinks it is disrespectful to joanna and their love to remarry then again lol he keeps fucking whores. i understand tywin’s relationship to image (and the whole tywin vs the real tywin aspect of the series) and how the latter is not public but would remarrying after ur partner’s death with the benefits to house lannister in mind be in opposition to an image here? like i am not saying it is a hole or ooc that tywin is a frustrating hypocrite who simply didnt want to do that shit bc he didnt feel like it but i dont think i can come up w a coherent and explored and laid out emotional reason that i am satisfied with

jumping on bc for me I think I’ve always thought Tywin refusing to marry is very fitting but it’s more that I think there are several possible narratives it could fit WITH so these are my two assumptions

  1. Joanna, a Lannister herself, is the only match Tywin ever considered good enough for him, and he won’t descend to accept any other. It would’ve been more politically advantageous to marry outside the family from the off but ofc Tywin is a complete hypocrite and also shortsighted af. He professes to do all he does for house Lannister but he’s always been better at making enemies than allies and resents compromise, so he’s not going to bend and do something he doesn’t truly want to. and also he’s fucking deluded and is fixated on the idea of Jaime as his true heir, he always fundamentally believes that Jaime can be reclaimed and says so to Tyrion. He hasn’t even made a contingency plan to stick Kevan in line to inherit CR, only Jaime. And that’s just how deluded he is he just cannot accept that u can’t always get what u want
  2. Again I really don’t like A+J=T but supposing it is true, it has interesting implications about the dynamic between J and T. If Tywin has discovered something about Joanna and Aerys, i think it would be in character for him to basically refuse any other woman to wife going forward. He once thought she was the truest woman of them all but turns out they’re all snakes etc. it’s possible Tywin’s thing w whores is just conveying his hypocrisy wrt Tytos and Tyrion’s own habits, but I’ve also wondered if a part of it is Tywin projecting Joanna onto these women as he sleeps w them. This is the kind of confused backwards spiteful thinking I can imagine for him: trying to undermine Joanna in his mind, trying to punish her vicariously through the act, but only undermining himself in practice

here r george’s words re joanna

ok so freaky if understandable insight into the medieval mind in that perhaps this was a more rational alliance than it seems to a modern POV, but I think the refusal to remarry is still tied up in Tywin’s emotional reasoning re. remarriage, I.e. that only she was good enough for him, he won’t descend to take another lesser woman etc. I think it’s a key hypocrisy of his that he expects that of his children (namely Cersei) but has never considered it himself

You ever think about the MOVE bombing and then think about the fact that so few US Americans even know that the MOVE bombing like. Happened.

"The United States is dedicated to moving bombs away from people who would use them for nefarious purposes! Google MOVE bombing to learn more!"

jesus christ 😐

this also doesn't come close to telling the whole story.

the Philadelphia police harassed the MOVE organization for over a decade. MOVE began with peaceful protests against conditions at long-term-care facilities and against the city Zoo's mistreatment of animals. in 1972, police classified the group’s use of profanity as riotous and designated them violent threats to public order. the actual reason was their radical abolitionist message.

the Philadelphia police department had a brutal, corrupt, and racist reputation long before MOVE entered the picture. despite that fact, MOVE’s claims of police brutality typically fell on deaf ears, even when they had undeniable proof of mistreatment. the bombing is only one part of the story both because it is the culmination of violence between MOVE and the police and also because it is part of the broader narrative of police brutality in Philadelphia that is still largely played out today.

in 1957, two Black men were beaten by three off duty and allegedly drunk police officers, putting one in the hospital for 19 days. the commissioner at the time testified that all officers were trained in "race relations," which involved things such as having officers brandish shotguns out the window of their patrol vehicles as a show of force in so called "shotgun squads." the three officers were not convicted of any crimes.

in 1960, shots indiscriminately fired by officer Robert Marinelli killed two innocent Black bystanders. Marinelli was charged, tried, and then found not guilty on all charges by an all-white jury.

in 1967, a guy named Frank Rizzo became the police chief. his nickname while working in West Philadelphia as a captain was "The Cisco Kid," which referenced the fictional cowboy who "killed for the love of it or any other reason that came to mind." he referred to "vermin" in Philadelphia as the source of the crime and decline.

shortly after he was appointed, he sicced 300 officers in riot gear on Black students and advisors protesting the Board of Education who were protesting the lack of Black studies and Black teachers. Rizzo ordered the officers to "get their Black asses." 57 protesters were arrested, dozens were beaten, and 15 were hospitalized. Frank Rizzo was elected Mayor of Philadelphia 3 years later and during his bid for re-election in 1975, he said that he would "make Attila the Hun look like a faggot" once he was reelected.

so yeah, not only is the MOVE bombing virtually unheard of by the average person in America (and it's not much better in academia, for that matter), but the story that is often told when people do hear about is that this all happened in a vacuum "due to the actions of a violent Black resistance group." in reality, it was the culmination of over 50 years of brutality against Black people and minorities in Philly.

i think any discussion about how people should not glorify incarceration as the primary solution to social ills (which is true) would improve by being intellectually honest about the fact that prisons (capitalist or socialist) are here to stay for a long long time and there are objective reasons for it. the great thing is that with such mindset you can save yourself a bother of patronizingly making fun of sa victims for the crime of asking how their rapists would be held accountable in this economy without state sanctioned punitive justice institutions🙃
