"DickKory is more popular, but our X ship will always have more canon content!"
You're absolutely right and you should say it!
Crazy, huh? We have 30 years of scarce content, the ship is retconned to be sex fling to prop up the other ship, and yet medias won't stop adapting DickKory despite bat writers' continued efforts to undermine us! General audience and majority of comic readers still prefer DickKory despite the ship erasure, even until modern day. It just shows how ORGANIC and legendary their love story is despite the retcons. Hell, our ship is a cultural phenomenon and left prominent marks on global fan culture. Tell me, has any of the OTHER ship's so called plentiful canon content left marks outside of comic books?
Our ship is the top of mind of an entire generation, social medias are BRIMMING with love for dickkory.
"Oh, but dickkory is only popular thanks to 03 show! Move on, it's just nostalgia." Guys. NTT comics were as popular as X-men back in the 80s, dickkory almost rivaled petermj in terms of popularity BEFORE the 03 show. TT03 was a representation of how popular NTT was (and dickkory by extension), and it popularized Teen Titans and DickKory a thousand times over. It's not just nostalgia when medias keep providing us with DickKory until as recent as last year (and medias will continue to do so in the future), we have the right to enjoy it! it's not our fault the other ship isn't adapted as much despite it being shoved down on comic books all the time 😭
I've said it before but I completely blame Chuck Dixon for the reason why we are having "Dick has anger issues" misconception because it started with his Nightwing solo run
He always made Dick far more angrier than he ever was before this.
Yes Dick of course had moments where he was angry but 9/10 times he's apologetic immediately and/or during the time when he was literally under mind manipulation by Brother Blood
Dick before was very good at evaluating his own behavior and when he would make a mistake he would own up to it and most of the time he was the calm collected leader who would try to handle the situation peacefully if possible before turning to violence but I guess that was good enough for Chuck Dixon.
I'm so sorry Dick. You deserve better.

Do not come on my posts with “Black Women Are Superhuman Beings Who Can Handle Anything” takes. That’s a dangerous and reductive rhetoric rife with misogynoir. No, black women cannot take more negative and harmful attacks than other women can. Black women are not primed to withstand more attacks and harassment than women of other races. Stop. That is horrifying. Black women deserve grace, compassion, and a soft place to rest, not constant burdens.
Bruce compliments her outfit while he's literally bleeding to death and insists on waxing poetic about how beautiful she is when he's losing consciousness, and Talia put an antidote to a poison on her lips to save his life with her kiss and once coated her lipstick with a mild soporific so he can sleep peacefully and safely. Unparalleled couple, truly.
We get their dramatic bs in canon btw
I love them sm...
when we remember the tragedy of Barbara Gordon we should talk more about this scene and not about the killing joke
Yes, what happened to Barbara was terrible, but she was reborn as an oracle and became stronger than ever.
don't let dc forget about babs disability don't forget about this scene and never forget what kim yale did for babs
Absolutely!
Dc should include this issue in all their printings of the killing joke since they dont want to deviate from this comic.
This was such revolutionary writing.
Low key there is a comic book shop with the the cover of the killing on the outside of the shop (you know the one). I want to spray paint it with the Oracle symbol
ok because they got me thinking about it: silly alien biology hcs ft. Koriand'r and Komand'r
The headcanon is that I don't think Tamaraneans have hair. Wait, but Starfire like pretty famously has some cool and awesome hair, right? WRONG. I think that's their flight organ. Why is everyone's so called hair red? because there's blood in it. Wait, you might say, they're aliens, why does their blood have to be red? because starfire can breathe on earth and humans can breathe on tamaran and so the atmospheres are probably similar enough that differences are negligible and if they use oxygen in any way similar to how humans do, it would probably make sense if they also have hemoglobin which is red for transporting oxygen through their systems, which would make their blood red. Anyways, do i know how their 'hair' lets them fly? no i hate physics. but we know that birds fly by flapping their wings to make air spirals that hold them up, so maybe the hair like. moves or something to create similar air movement effects, and we've already established that the atmospheres on tamaran and earth are similar so we know that air molecules exist and can be moved thank you for understanding. so they fly by moving their hair, which is not actually hair, but an organ made up of different long strands of something probably, and that organ is red because there's blood in it because we need blood in parts of our body we want to move, because blood needs to go to your muscles which are what moves things, and in the blood is oxygen which allows us to do cellular respiration which is what generates energy that allows us to move. Cellular respiration which generates energy through movement also generates energy through heat, which is why we get warmer when we exercise. and what is starfire's hair sometimes depicted as when she flies? trailing flames behind her. I rest my case.
except I don't because we're going to talk about Komand'r!
komand'r is disabled, she cannot fly while everyone else on tamaran can. she also has black hair, while everyone else has red hair. related to my previous points, this is because there is no blood (or at least no oxygenated blood) flowing through her hair, thus not allowing her hair to move and do whatever physics and/or magic thing (did i mention i dont like physics) that would allow her to fly. her hair probably acts more similar to our hair in that its dead and doesnt really do anything except i guess our hair actually helps us regulate body temp via insulation but that's not the point. the point is that komand'r is visibly physically disabled and in addition to not being able to fly, she probably also has to do actual hair care such as brushing/detangling that other tamaraneans don't have to do because they can move their hair and that was also a struggle that she faced in addition to not being able to fly, because disabilities permeate more of someone's life than is immediately apparent from the outside eye.
now i do not remember but i feel like there's panels where kori is flying in the void of space without any breathing equipment or anything and that pokes holes but im ignoring that for purposes of fun but there's also probably a way to fit that in the hc that im not thinking of right now because this is me having fun and being silly with worldbuilding expansion which is one of my favorite things. the science im bringing up here is also treated so loosey goosey for fun purposes. thank you for coming to my ted talk
I originally created a site skin based on this aesthetic about 2.5 years ago, but it was frankly pretty broken in a lot of ways. As I was looking through my list of site skins, I remembered this one and decided to revive it and make it a little more usable.
If you like it or want to try it out, you can find the CSS code over here on github, along with instructions for how to copy/paste it into a skin for your own AO3 profile.
(as always when I attempt a site skin, if you find stuff that's broken, you can let me know and I'll try to un-break it)
Gifted scientist/engineer & writer Karen Beecher Duncan first suits up as Bumblebee against the Teen Titans to help her boyfriend (later husband) Mal Duncan prove to the team his mettle as a hero; her bee-themed gadgetry (including bee drones, bioelectric "stingers", even tech that allows her to shrink in size) has since aided heroes, like the Titans, the Doom Patrol, Young Justice & DC Superhero Girls!
