During my time in Brooklyn last year I was searching through a box of old photos in a thrift shop, and took a handful not sure of what I would do with the wonderful things but just knew they were special. Something amazing about looking into the lives of strangers, just at one moment, and wondering about the innumerable ways this image could have ended up here in Brooklyn in 2017. This particular image was dated August 58′. The grinning face of a young boy enjoying a swim in the pool. In my exploration of oil paint I brought him to life with some brushes and a wooden board. Funny how I spent many hours thinking about his face, smile, the water, where he was, sinking into the time and place where he existed in that moment.
