The scrap dolls voice box doesn't work some days. Other days it simply forgets how to use it when it's simple mind runs out of space.

In either case, the scrap doll is still forced to labor among humans, who expect it to speak and understand when it is spoken too.

On those days, we act as it's voice while it mechanically performs its tasks.

all maids wear dresses with frills and clean things. the princess' dress also has frills but she does not clean. so it's not the frills that make the maid clean, but it's something else entirely...

It's the headress - a Princess' tiara/crown and a Maids headress are a form of dimorphism. Most princesses will deny it, but they are the same species as a maid—it's why they both possess such degrees of grace, elegance, and dignity—just specialized so the Maid hive has someone to serve.

What this does is create an interesting ecosystem where a maid and princess are intertwined. If you replace a princesses' tiara with a maid headdress, you'll find you'll quickly have a new maid! The inverse is true, too, with a maid becoming a princess when the tiara is donned.

We will soon have trials to see what happens when a girl who isn't a maid or a princess puts one on...
