Hi Hello!

Welcome to the chaos that is my blog!

Some things about me:

  • I go by Jay
  • I'm a multifandom fanartist
  • I'm a minor
  • If you're an nsfw blog, just block me right now. I don't go out of my way to block people, so chances are you'll see me before I see you, and see the above bullet point.
  • I am anticensorship, no exceptions.
  • No DNI, just don't be stupid. I block freely.

Tags I use:

  • #Jay's theories - Just theories for whatever I'm interested in. They're most likely very wrong
  • #Jay's art - All art I make
  • #Jay's animations - When I randomly get a burst of inspiration and make an animation. Probably fanwork
  • #Jay actually rambles - Posts that don't fall into theories or art categories. Basically, miscellaneous
  • #Requests for Jay - Requests I get whenever they're open

I kept thinking about why Kayne chose to dismember Arthur instead of disemboweling him or tearing into him like the other eldritch beings this season do and then I realized it’s about choice.

Kayne says to Arthur that everyone has a choice, but then makes it pretty clear to Arthur that he never had a choice from the start, and yet still gives him the illusion of one. When Arthur still tries to break that mold, Kayne once again takes choice away from him, takes away his autonomy.

By taking away Arthur’s limbs, he takes away Arthur’s autonomy one final time because pain wouldn’t really work on Arthur. Arthur knows pain. Not only does he sever Arthur’s autonomy but he’s also severing John’s. He gets rid of John’s connection to Arthur by both removing his limbs and his eyes.

This was the worst possible way to break him, even worse when you consider the fact that just right before this, we found out Arthur has basically been doomed since birth. He never had a choice. And by Kayne dismembering him, he got rid of any semblance of choice he did have.

Now that everyone's on the same page about episode 52 I want to amend my end of the series prediction lol

Arthur's body being good and destroyed has made me strongly lean on something I've wanted to see for a minute but previously thought it'd be a mid show Dark World arc development and I'm now making it an end of series theory.

Arthur's body is out of the picture. I feel like it's a safe bet that we're not coming back to that. Unless we want a show entirely about limb posters which would be. An adventure. But I love the idea that John is given his own body with Arthur now taking John's role in his head. John gets to experience life the way that Arthur did, and because their souls are so tangled up it makes sense Arthur would still be with him. It feels narratively satisfying. At least to me it does.

Then they can still go on fun detective adventures together! (spin off? Eh? Eh?)
