My blog of random things.

Before this, Matt refused to team up with Bullseye and left Kingpin behind to go find Frank.

"You're hurtin' a lot right now, Murdock. With good reason. But you don't want to be me. You needed to remember that."

I'm such a sucker for Frank and Matt as reluctant allies who respect each other and always save each other when it comes down to it.

Daredevil (Vol. 2) - Issue #86-87

Brubaker | Lark

Giggling at the implications of Matt laughing when Heather suggests interviewing Frank and being dead fucking silent when she proposes daredevil. Does. Does Heather think Matt just HATES daredevil for some reason? This random blind lawyer just has SERIOUS beef with daredevil for some reason. Incredible. 10/10 hiding your secret identity Matt.

Each born again issue starts with Matt lying down until he finally stands up in the end.

He goes further and further into fetal position until he is “born again” and healed by Maggie.

I love comics.

Daredevil (Vol. 1) - Issue #227-230 & #233

Miller | Mazzuchelli

I’m loving these bad reviews because they’re focused not JUST on ‘Pratchett fans specifically will be annoyed’ but ALSO on ‘even aside from it being a bad adaptation, it’s just generally a bad show even if you aren’t already a Discworld fan.’  So that it’s not just a thing of ‘well the purist fans just don’t like it because it’s not exactly the same as their precious books’ it’s like…genuinely just lame.

maskerade (1995)

[Image Description - Photograph of a paperback book. Text reads as follows:

"Oh, none of them."

THEN FAITH IN WHAT?

"Just faith, you know. In general"

Death leaned forward. The candlelight raised new shadows on his skull.

COURAGE IS EASY BY CANDLELIGHT. YOUR FAITH, I SUSPECT, IS IN THE FLAME.

Death grinned.

Granny leaned forward, and blew out the candle. Then she folded her arms again and stared fiercely ahead of her.

After some length of time a voice said, ALL RIGHT, YOU'VE MADE YOUR POINT.

Im sorry but it is so funny how people outside of tumblr view us. Like why are the tiktokers treating tumblr like some professional ass website you need to do extensive prep before you begin posting on. And the follower farming advice is so fucking funny to me when this is the website where people actively hate getting new followers

this is my aesthetic:

Tips if u wanna start a tumblr blog:

  1. Have an email
  2. Make a tumblr account with said email

Parents always say this:

  • "You're smart. Therefore, it's okay for me to expect more of you."
  • "You're smart. Therefore, I don't have to care how I explain things to you."
  • "You're smart. Therefore, it's okay for me to assume that any mistakes you make are intentional."
  • "You're smart. Therefore, if you say that you struggle with something, it's okay for me to assume that you're just lazy, afraid, lacking confidence, lacking motivation, or any other excuse to dismiss your struggles as fake.

but never this:

  • "You're smart. Therefore, I will put my authority aside and consider the possibility that you are right and I am wrong.

Like any abusive authority figure, they want you to be smart enough to uphold their authority but not smart enough to challenge their authority.

shaking women by their shoulders with all my strength, screaming YOU DONT NEED TO GET PERMISSION TO BREAK UP WITH SOMEONE!!!!

you can choose to break up with someone for any reason. and it’s your choice. you’re allowed. you don’t need to ask for permission. you don’t even need to do it in person. you won’t get in trouble. in fact, most of the time you’ll be in trouble for fucking staying.

they don’t even have to suck! you can just be tired! or bored! or want to be single! you don’t have to stay with a person you don’t want to be with because they “are such a good person and haven’t done anything wrong”!

WHY DO I KEEP TALKING TO WOMEN WHO ARE STUCK IN RELATIONSHIPS THEY DONT WANT TO BE IN

with no-fault divorces currently on the fucking chopping block, we really need to start telling young women that they have autonomy when it comes to their romantic relationships.

no, you don’t have to date that guy just cuz he wants to date you.

no, you don’t have to stay with her because she doesn’t want to break up.

no, you don’t have to keep dating them even though they haven’t cheated/abused you/whatever horrible thing is your only reference for ending a relationship.

this is basic info, but you’d be surprised at how many women don’t understand this, or feel like it’s not true.

and before ANYONE says that this goes for everyone, not just women, yes of course it does. anyone of any gender can suffer from this.

but let’s not deny that women are taught this shit from a young age. be virtuous, forgiving, kind, soft, turn the other cheek, it’s just cuz he’s a man and you’re a girl and you don’t understand. stay with him or you’re a bitch.

Samuel Deats, director of Netflix’s Castlevania Nocturne series on Generative AI.

“Millions of artists are being violated before everyone's eyes, robbed of their life's work in the biggest art heist in history, just to enrich companies at the expense of wiping out human creativity from this point forward for the rest of time--unless we stop them here and now.”

chronic pain

note: this is ok to reblog, even if you don’t experience chronic pain!

[ID: Drawing of a person laying in bed, wide awake. Their spine is drawn in red on top of their body, visibly curved to the side with scoliosis. The spine, and a dozen squiggly lines representing pain, flare bright red every few seconds. /end ID]

we have all noticed that "self-care" basically ended up as a replacement word for "pampering" in a marketing lexicon and not as an active set of behaviours intended to allow the body and brain to adequately rest and revive in the face of the ceaseless crushing grind of capitalism yes

Thanks to a lovely person re-checking permission, I was reminded of this piece from 12 years ago. A rather big painting of a male Java peafowl, made for the cover of the "Losing Altitude" artbook, which featured endangered and extinct bird species.

I'm still very fond of the paintings I made for that cover, and I feel they were oddly ahead of my skills at the time (or I just regressed lol).

Especially this peacock, with all his endless feathers and textures and colours. It was hell to paint at the time, but now I can still admire the result. I hope you too will enjoy this blast from the past!
