this counts and i’ll hear nothing against it

if watching sports counts as enjoying the sport, then watching video games counts as enjoying video games.

And literally a huge part of gaming has ALWAYS been the experience of sitting around together, watching one person in the group play while everyone else cheers, heckles, shrieks, and generally has a good time.

And those $80 digital games with $90 physical games are not making it better

hi y’all i just wanted to put you onto this fundraiser for the buffalo nations grasslands alliance. they’re trying to recoup some of the funds for black-footed ferret conservation on tribal grounds that the trump/musk administration has frozen, which is impacting not only the conservation efforts themselves but the livelihoods of the people working on them. the frozen grant is 1.1 million but this fundraiser has a goal of 50,000.

the fundraiser has 24 days left and has only reached 2% of its goal with 11 donations. black-footed ferrets are an endangered lazarus taxon that was thought to be extinct from 1979-1981 before being rediscovered by accident. they’re a miracle of conservation and it would be horrible to lose them for good, not to mention (again) the impact of people working with these animals losing their jobs which is outlined in the fundraiser link. indigenous-led conservation efforts are extremely important for a wide variety of reasons and as someone in the zoology area i feel obligated to share this fundraiser to contribute to those efforts.

i know that things are hard right now and there’s a lot of people and organizations all across the world that need help, so don’t feel pressured BUT if you have extra money and you can contribute to this fundraiser or share it with people who can that would be great.

I was so excited for the switch 2 release but holy crap $449??? The switch 1 was 300ish dollar, so thats a $150 increase. And on top of that some are speculating that game prices might increase to $70-$90???. Definitely, think I’ll stick to my switch 1 for now, especially with tomadachi life and rhythm heaven coming in 2026.

Honestly nintendo’s greed right now couldn’t be more transparent. The fact that they’re even charging for the DEMO minigame for how to use their console is insane. Or how if you already have a switch 1 game, (botw or totk) but want to “upgrade” it (to better graphics or whatever) you still have to pay an upgrade fee, when really this wouldn’t even be a problem or concern if certain segments of those games weren’t glitchy to BEGIN with.

Didn’t know how this turned into a rant lol, but still very irritating. Time to finish all the games in my backlog

the thing about being nonbinary is that you really do start to forget that other people have such strict walls around what is and isn’t allowed for genders. i thought we all agreed that we made that up. could you climb out of the cave real quick and feel the sunshine for a minute.

My favorite bookstore ever was in Salem, MA and looked like this:

Extremely fucking precarious setup. Afraid to brush against anything. But if you went to the counter and asked for something, the guy there not only somehow knew where to find it, he could yank a book out of any given teetering stack without disturbing the rest.

^ i went to this bookstore once in college, and then years later visited salem again and tried to find it, only to discover, in its place, a very neat and organized conventional bookstore with everything on shelves. i asked one the employees what happened that it underwent such a radical shift and they said, the mold,
