I remember reading about this like last year, and basically rich peoples private ponds are having wild otters come in and eating their million dollar koi fish, so it actually has made them more popular with many of the working class in Singapore who already admired the otters, so its sort of similar to those capybara in Argentina
See I’m in a bit of a pickle with this - am I in favor of it for terrorizing the rich? Are the otters non-native and thus an ecological problem? Are the koi non-native and thus the otters are solving a problem? I don’t know how I feel about this, or how I’m supposed to feel. Which is why it’s always important to have context before making a decision!

Koi and goldfish are carp who have been inbred and messed with in order to have pretty colors. Carp are an invasive species in many areas of the world who have a habit of killing off native aquatic species.
The otters are doing a good thing for the ecology.
