curious - what got into into hermitcraft?

Avatar

Hi hii

So what got me into hermitcraft hmm… I can’t fully remember but I started watching this season (10) through Joel’s POV, but I knew it existed from about season 6 I was just never that into it until recently. I’ve always been into Minecraft so I guess that’s also something :D

Idrk if this answers ur question or not but yeah :P

Edit: I should mention that I’m going through old seasons as a watch s10 (for example I’ve watched all of Cleo’s and most of Pearls s9’s)

Late to the hermitcraft party but Lizzie’s Build Vs with Joel are ingrained into my mind (I can’t believe that was 10/11 years ago now omg)

makes sense makes sense

glad to have you

was gonna make a post about The Character but then i looked at my dash for 5 seconds and it would appear that everyone is also having the same experience so

when i say my gender changes to the tune of the bit i mean a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do and if he can’t then god forbid women do anything

jokerkind specibus ass

But you still recognized that as a Homestuck reference.

What were YOU doing at the devil's sacrament?

i googled the words & got results from the homestuck wiki. that’s not attending the devil’s sacrament that’s investigating suspicious noises in the woods by lanternlight

i do think the ways fiction affects reality are really interesting and nuanced but its hard to talk about it without accidentally aligning yourself with the kind of people who think all problematic books should be banned or whatever. like no i don't care about all that, i wanna talk about how the the movie jaws may have affected public perception of sharks, or how a lot of shooter games seem to reinforce the othering of middle eastern groups, or how finding nemo apparently inspired a rise in demand for pet clownfish, which ironically were often taken from the wild. it's never as simple as 'consuming bad media will make you bad' but the ways fiction shifts the culture are genuinely so fascinating dang it.

*these examples are anecdotal and likely more nuanced than this. please don't murder me with fish facts.

you will live to witness manmade horrors that are completely within your comprehension if you've paid any attention to a single piece of human history but are nevertheless still huge bummers

the three tenets of goodtimeswithscar:

  1. dyslexia is, first and foremost, a tool to be used for nefarious purposes (blatant excuse for more blatant dick joke)
  2. if i can talk my way out of it it doesn’t count
  3. look at my titties

Wait what did Pearl do to deserve to be in exile!?

The genuine answer is nothing lol, she was fully in compliance with all of her permits and her shops were constantly stocked. As Cleo said in their video, this is no longer about permits or the law, the Poe just wants every one to be exiled.

ik this is silly minecraft roleplay like teehee n all but i rlly hope people can actually see the real life parallels of this storyline within their own countries and politics cus like!!

"it was never about the permits, the poe just wants everyone exiled" fucking HITS right now and it's important to be able to recognize these types of implications in fiction (ESPECIALLY in fiction, it shouldn't have to be non-fiction for you to intellectually engage w it)

ik no one asked for my opinion and i don't give a gaf if you enjoy the storyline or not, or if you're on the poe's side or not, cus ik it's never that serious but this is a great opportunity for you to start actively looking for these fictional examples of real life events n issues

I've been thinking something like this for a little bit, specifically about Joe.

Joe was fighting a gorilla war! The poe, a larger and more physically powerful government trying to violently snuff out all resistance vs the scrappy under dog who has to use traps to gain an advantage and stay on the run.

I don't particularly keep up with Joe as much as I used to, but holy moly, you can hear it in his voice. He was Haggard.

Love seeing posts from people who only watch a particular perspective or two going 'but what did [insert hermit] do to deserve getting exiled??' When their faves get exiled. Like. Oh sorry. Did you think the permit office was working off of what people deserved? Did you think there was a modicum of fairness involved? And not just indiscriminate shows of power in an attempt to make the rest of the server bend to their will out of fear? No. Sorry. They're cops. Did you miss that bit? They're doing blatant authoritarian violence.
