12 years is not nearly enough time to teach you everything to know about the world, especially when the starting point is “a says ah” and “1+1=2” and “rain comes from clouds.”

There are people who spend their whole lives in pursuit of knowledge and do not run out of stuff to learn. If you want to be well-informed and knowledgeable as an adult you have to actually make your continued education a priority. The library is free, thousands on online resources are accessible to all, and somewhere near you is an affordable museum or culture center or zoo or art display that can give you information you didn’t know.

Interestingly, despite characters one might readily imagine not getting along well (Mario and Wario, Peach and Bowser, Luigi and King Boo, etc.) having bad chemistry, none of the "obvious" rivalries and bad relationships have the worst possible chemistry value of 5.

This one is used only for the matchups between Peach and Petey Piranha, and between Toadette and Bowser. This must mean that in the minds of the developers, these two pairs of characters harbor exceptionally deep hatred for each other.

The misuse of the "insult to life itself" quote from Miyazaki on AI burns my yams so bad bc the original context is being disgusted with how a characters movements are dehumanizing to disabled people specifically bc of his empathy for a disabled friend and it's such a sadly rare sentiment, this cognizance of how we casually inflict indignity upon disabled people and how he finds it disgusting, I hate seeing it obfuscated

In the video he sees character animation where the presenter comments on how the AI can be used to model "grotesque movements humans can't even imagine." And Miyazaki immediately mentions that he thought of his physically disabled friend, who struggles with movement, with the implication being that what's "insulting to life itself" is the degradation of people like him to grotesque monsters. Regardless of my feelings about AI art I don't think it's worth obscuring this humane thought process to have a rhetorical weapon

My wife brought up a good point - the price increase is likely due to tariffs! The Japanese model (which is region locked to prevent scalpers/exporters) is priced at about $340, which seems way more reasonable (about 50ish USD cheaper than a base model SteamDeck)

While I do think Nintendo has a bad strategy towards its consumers (the controllers are stupidly priced even with tariffs in mind but they've been like that since Switch 1), I think the console pricing itself isn't COMPLETELY to be blamed on them. It is, truly, partially the fault of the USA.

Yeah, I heard it was the tariffs, but also, $450 is a less than anyone expected it be after the leaks and is close to the price of past nintendo consoles adjusted for inflation. People who have been following Switch 2 news for a while are actually pretty happy with the price.
