This is my blog for memes and shit that fit my ocs. I quit tumblr so if you want to see what i'm actually up to go to my bluesky

Posts will be tagged "kenracters: [oc name]" and/or the name of whichever WIP the post is related to, eg "the 5000 day grudge" or "divine cancellation". A few are tagged "oc inspo." I have a few character-specific tags because I like holding on to that kinda stuff:

  • "sounds that landon would make"
  • "music that landon would listen to"
  • "froggyposting" (Landon)
  • "crabposting" (Dimitri)
  • "doggyposting" (Russ)

Note to self, I started using this blog on 10/10/23. Started rbing oc inspo posts here on 11/1/23. Don't come checking here if I wanna look for posts like that rbed before then lmao

I can't take this site anymore for reasons I won't be going into but that you can probably guess based on how many times I leave tags like "I hate white people"

I cannot express how wild it was using bluesky for the first time and not getting immediately pissed off by stupid discourse posts. Will it be like that forever? Probably not but it's better now and that's what matters to me. Fuck this stupid platform and every racist cracker on it 🖕🏿

What this means for my writeblr is I'll still post stories here sometimes ig, because I don't have a good alternative right now, but otherwise I'm done. I'm not deleting my account but I don't have the energy to participate in writeblr anymore

Crawling back to this site to mention that I *do* have a good alternative now, my own website!

So I won't be posting new writing here anymore. But if you go to Sekh-net you'll be able to see new *and* old writing, and user profiles (soon), and in-character posts (eventually), and other cool stuff. And it's mobile friendly and accessible to assistive technology soooo

Dimitri for @kk7-rbs

I had a lot of fun with this one. He looks so cool...

My ask is that I want to make a language where all the sounds are beatboxing and I think I could pull it off maybe but.. idk how to write most of the sounds.. some of them would be clicks which do have letters in the IPA (like ! And ǁ) but others don't 🤧

Do you have any OCs that can beatbox.. maybe they have the answers /j

(I can beatbox that's why I'm thinking about this)

listen firstly i think that its COOL ASF THAT YOU CAN BEATBOX HELLO?????? that's fucking incredible. i can't fathom people who can like how are you doing that but its so fucking sick

secondly--that's SUCH a good question... how would you write that. i imagine maybe consonant dipthongs to kind of mimic the starting sound and then a kind of glottal stop situation? but like.... how would that even translate. pff. maybe this is an entirely oral language with no writing system bc i don't know nearly enough about ipa to even pretend to think of that. i wonder if anyone has done it already tho??? might be worth looking into :eye emojis:

BUT.... in terms of ocs who can beatbox. good question. i actually don't know if i ever thought about it. let me consult my charts...

it actually wouldn't surprise me if certain tcol characters could tbh. i haven't really started nailing down some of the specific cultural practices in certain regions and how they differ from one another; but it strikes me as something that those from kiskkaddon would be able to do - so jace, miki, and raaga (and perhaps vivo) probably can! i think it would be cool if they do so i'm gonna preemptively say they do lol.

i think marco in vdtrt can but i just think marco's the coolest so he should be able to. i definitely know frankie from lukewarm rejection (i dont' talk about him a lot cuz he's a minor character) can.

this was a fun ask thank you!! :DD

Jsyk I'm gathering Marco and Raaga and Frankie and them and we're forming a beatboxing crew right now. You get free tickets to all our shows

Also THANKSSSSS Idk how I can beatbox either tbh I've been doing it ever since I was a wee lad for autism reasons so I don't remember how I learned. I guess listening to hip hop a lot growing up helped but I like beatboxing to rock too

Okay you saying constant dipthongs* reminded me of something but I'll get to that in a second. I started making some sounds out loud to try and match them to IPA and I realized my hi hat sound is kinda like a /t/ or a /ts/. It starts as a t but I can push the air out for longer if I want to represent longer notes. Maybe I could write it as /t͡s/ to emphasize how it's like the same syllable..? Similarly I realized one of my kick drum sound is a /p/ with extra force. p sure there's a diacritic to represent when you pronounce a phoneme with more force I just can't think of it rn. So I'm thinkinɡ if I focus I can fiɡure out the closest fittinɡ letters for more sounds.

re: constant dipthongs since beatboxing only involves like pushing out air when I'm doing hi hats or other cymbal sounds, I can hum and beatbox at the same time and that's how I usually do it. So I could definitely work in vowel sounds somehow. When I hum it all comes from the same part of my throat (which I think is the same for everyone?) and the only thing that changes is the pitch. So this could also be a tonal language with just one vowel lol. I think the vowel in question is /ɑ/. It's called "open back unrounded vowel" which I think matches where my hums come from.. although I'm not the biggest expert on rounded vs unrounded vowels

*for those in the audience, a dipthong is when you pronounce two vowel sounds in one syllable 👍🏿
