WELCOME BACK FOLKS FOR A J.U.H.RASSIC GRAND FINALE, I’m your host Jo, here with:
The Summary Report
I have completed 27 interviews from every JWCT blog I could find with their asks open. This is our sample. In these interviews I asked the question: “WHAT one thing are YOU most excited to see in s3 of chaos theory?”
NOTE: this survey was conducted ON TUMBLR which contributes a drastic bias to all results, especially in terms of ships. I am aware. I also don’t give a shit as ask games are a tumblr exclusive site mechanic.
The name of the game here is Jo Unboxes the Hype and that is exactly what I aim to do — gather input on what exactly the wider fandom is most looking forward to with season 3 (maybe even test how it measured up to the “hype” after) and measure the results.
There is one hour left until the season releases, so without further adiue, here are those results:
First up, Character Interest
This bar graph covers every N6 member plus our three spotlight additions this season. One point was tallied for each time a character was mentioned by an interviewee as someone they were specifically interested in seeing.
This distinction from ‘every time a characters name is mentioned’ is important because many are looking forward to seeing the aftermath of a specific S2 scene that won’t even involve the character responsible for it, as such input that exclusively mentioned the character’s name for the sake of referencing the scene were not counted
Our MOST HYPED character is The Handler with 11 Individual mentions.
In descending order after that it is Brooklynn (10), Soyona (8), Yaz (7), Sammy (7), Gia (7), Ben (6), Kenji (5), and Darius (4).
It is notable to mention that Sammy and Yaz each only got 2 individual mentions each, with the rest being due to Yasammy. Speaking of:
Let’s talk Shipping
Here we have two separate pie charts - one comparing expressed interest in specific ships and the second using the same data to compare the slash types of said ships.
*Honorable mention to the 1 interview that brought up platonic Samji
To the suprise of absolutely no one our MOST HYPED ship this season is Yasammy with 7 individual mentions.
However, let’s break it down further than that. Coming in as the second biggest ship is Lab Partners/Brokerlynn with (5) mentions, followed by BenGia (4) in third. Tied were Benji and Whistlelight/Raptormoms with (3) each. Shockingly, even Dinomite (2) was discussed more than Dinostar (1) despite the latter ship’s semi-canon status.
Overall, f/f has dominated the graph, both making up 3/7 of the ships brought up AND receiving a total 15 mentions. In comparison there was an equal ratio of m/m to f/m (5).
Focused Plot Points
Of course, characters and ships aren’t the end all be all of a show - the story itself is the whole point! With the cliff hangers s2 left us on, combined with what was seen in the trailer, there has been a LOT of desires as to what everyone wants to see covered. Now, typically this would be a very personal/individual question - every fan wants to see something different, right? And for the most part this rang true, however three specific focus points were mentioned across interviews.
- Aftermath of the airport scene (9)
- Brooklynn’s spiraling situation (8)
- Bumpy’s baby (5)
Luckily these are all things we know will actually be covered in the show but WOW are people ready to see them be unpacked
Thoughts?
Honestly this whole thing has been very fun and imo really has made the wait more enjoyable. As I type this last paragraph there are 3 minutes to the season’s release. When I started sending out asks (initially just a few to my friends, before I had realized The Potential of the reporter schtick) we still had over 2 days to go. I think the largest benefit of a small fandom is the opportunity provided to have these discussions. The community here (specifically here, on tumblr) is an amazing one.

Well, it’s just over 2 hours left on the clock until S3 debuts and nearly every interview has been successfully concluded! Our segment is nearing its end, which leaves only one last report to be given before our J.U.H finale
But Jo! What one thing are YOU most excited to see in S3? You asked everyone but is there anything you’re hoping for?
Special thanks to my few moots who actually did ask and made me think to share my own two cents!! The audience deserves accurate coverage of the hopes involved here and I am nothing if not a willing host
Personally, and this will suprise no one who was looking at my blog when the trailer released, I'm most excited to learn about Gia!! Not only is she a whole new character but her established relationship means big things. The group didn’t really know any of their bonus companions in season one. They only just met Zayna and her family in season two. These were all new relationships and while yes, they did influence each season greatly, the emotional investment had to build.
Gia has been introduced already in an established relationship with Ben. Not only does this mean a window into the timeskip between shows, a chance to learn about the N6’s downtime, but it also means high stakes. Whatever story role she takes may decide the tone of the entire season.
A twist villain? A true ally? A reluctant spy? Is the relationship genuine? Is she falking it? The connotations of whatever path is chosen will be a huge influencing factor for the season’s themes. It will influence the entire cast and, if she does turn out crooked, it will set the bar for what type of stakes the group will face.
Remember season five of jwcc? That stood out because the big bad wasn’t the dinosaurs. It wasnt them being in mortal peril for the 100th time. It was child neglect, emotional abuse, and advanced manipulation - and for me it was the most viscerally distressing danger the group had ever been it. Dino attacks? Poison? Explosions? Hunters? Dramatic and high stakes but I’m engaged and entertained. That? Whatever that was? I was nauseous. Poor Kenji. I have a very strong feeling that if Gia DOES end up evil - the show will take that tone again. I really hope it doesn’t because Brooklynn’s current situation is already a lot but again: we’ll have to wait and see!

Okay firstly, I'm excited for whatever the heck Brooklynn's got going on XD Idk what this girl is up too, I think she's making bad decisions for compelling reasons and I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Also I'm definitely hoping for more falllout from the rest of crew learning Brooklynn is alive. Idk about you guys, but that is one thing that stood out to me in s2 as being a bit lackluster. I need the rest of the N5 to really grapple with the weight of Brooklynn's descision and what it meant and still means for them. Give some of that interiority! <3
Also! My girl Yasmina!! I love her so much. I can't quite remember if this was resolved in s2 (I don't remember one, but it's been a minute since I've seen it), but I'd really like to see the effects of everyone leaning on Yaz for emotional stability/comfort. I hope this isn't a thread that they drop, because everyone is still under extremem emotional strain, even if it isn't the exact same problems everyone had in s2, and Yaz is still the one who's gone to therapy and done the work, and overall seems to be in a better place than the others. It's easy to see from all the other's perspectives why they feel the most comfortable looking to her for support, but being that support for so many people can be really overwhelming it a really specific, guilt-ridden way. I'd really like to see that further explored.
(Also give me more Yaz and Kenji friendship!! I loved what we got in s2 and i wish for more haha XD)
Final thing! I'm really excited about Ben's girlfriend XD I'm pretty sure you've seen my post about this, but she's from a time in their lives we have as viewers have so little access to! I wanna know more about the N6 after they got of the island, and before Brooklynn's tragedy struck. I hope Gia can give a bit of insight into what that was like, at least for Ben. (also i love a new character <3)

An impeccable answer!!! The group is a jenga tower of mistakes right now and with the way the airport scene went? Episode one alone is bound to be a doozy
Yaz definitely needs her S2 role of therapy friend to come to a head, both her and Darius have been self isolating to cope and it has NOT worked in the slightest! Hopefully the consequences there do finally show up
And yes!! New/less shown characters!!!

Squid, let me say it is AMAZING to have you on with the morning segment of our show J.U.H! Here take a seat, take a seat. NOW, I’ve heard these past seasons have been hard for you, not every fan loves a sequel. Truly a difficult conundrum, I’d say I’ve been there but we all know season 2 of earthspark was just a prank [insert canned laughter]
Your circumstances aside, there ARE only two days left until the new season drops!! Typically this is the part where I ask WHAT one thing YOU are most excited to see in s3 of chaos theory, HOWEVER that may fall short here so instead:
What are your thoughts here? What WOULD have made chaos theory better for you? 🎤
Oh! Wow, can I just say it's an honor to be here. As someone who's been here for quite a while, I never expected this show to get this far. While yes, I may not be a fan of certain parts, such as characterization, I think the overall consensus is that it is way more complex and great at expanding the general world! Brooklynn's arc is very interesting to watch to unfold as well as everyone dealing with adulthood and their trauma, that has never changed. [murmurs of agreement from the crowd]
Now, as for season 3? As you can see from my username, you can say I'm a supporter of Ben and Darius' dynamic. They've kept me attached to the series for a long time, even through the inconsistencies and hot/cold moments that the show spotlights onto them. Always strange to witness them go from buddies to barely interacting. I do think there is potential for Darius to go off on Ben for keeping Brooklynn a secret, or they could just completely brush over that. I'm unsure of what they're going to do with all that.
CT is CT, I did not really have any expectations, though the direction they've taken with the characters are a hit or miss for me for certain aspects. My personal favorite is them going further with Ben and Yasmina sibling dynamic, making Kenji and Brooklynn's relationship more complex as well as Yaz and Sammy....Ben and Darius in season 1 was good. I don't know why the hippo was a bigger threat than the dinos in season 2 but whatever floats their boat [laughter]. Obviously, for me, more benrius moments would have made my day, but that's from my nostalgic perspective. The fandom has grown beyond that, I suppose.

All very good points! CT has definitely been taking the approach of spotlighting a characters dynamic with one other person each season - rather than showing their consistent group interactions like in CC. So Ben and Darius falling through the cracks after their time to shine in S1 was a tragedy I’m not sure will be resolved in S3 [crowd groans and sighs]
It’s nice because we finally get to see more of duos who didn’t have many moments in CC like Ben and Sammy, but the trade off has been a steep one. I’d say I wish we’d finally see more of Sammy and Darius but from the trailer it might be a Sammy and Kenji season and as the viewers already know I’ve been waiting for them. Still!! I totally get what you mean and the disappointment is understandable

I can’t believe it’s coming out tomorrow I can’t wait to see how everyone gets worse! Especially Brooklyn- she has no one to lean on now! She’s all alone my poor girl :( she’s probably trying not to constantly think about how the rest of the n6 think about her now- that or she justifies her actions by telling herself that they would understand why she has to do all this (then she has to distract herself by having a toxic yuri relationship with Soyona WHO SAID THAT) but seriously I wonder how many scenes we’ll get of Brooklyn being really mean/hurtful to n5 like will they treat her like an actual “villain” then or will they keep trying to convince her to stop and let them help her you know?
An incredibly based response! Brooklynn is certainly a favorite character for many and seeing how her current dilemma will continue to spiral is exciting for us all

AH hello! sorry i'm getting to this late (there's only ONE day left 'til release?!?!) 😭 not so sure if i'm deserving of all the accolades but tysm anyway 🥹
as for s3 ... hmmmm. that's tough! i'm honestly kind of nervous to see how things play out. we still have to deal with the fallout of brooklynn's rejection and ben not speaking up sooner about her being alive. i'm sure there'll be a wide range of responses from the nublar 5, and it's clear that brooklynn's not walking away emotionally unscathed either. lots of feelings, lots of drama 💔
but what i'm really excited for is the handler's comeback! without getting into spoilers, it sounds like her arc's going to be really interesting this season. i already loved her as an antagonist, so i'm really looking forward to her character being fleshed out 🦖
You heard it here first folks!! Betrayal is still bubbling from everything in the s2 finale and we are no doubt in for a long list of consequences if s3 picks up right there
And you’re not alone there, The Handler has been a massive point of excitement and intrigue from all fans in the lead-up to this season!

Biggest dream is that Brooklynn meets the one-armed Baryonyx and--going for broke--helps fix or attach the creature's arm. I think it would be a great way to have her continue to work through her trauma and would also be a great "point at the screen during Dominion" tie-in.

Brooklynn’s scenes with Gordon the compy were notably cut short, removing the writer’s planned arc for her acclimating to her new disability and trauma - seeing this storyline picked back up with another Dino would be fantastic. Of course, with less than 24 hours to the seasons release, all we can do is wait to find out

A brilliant choice! This really is an underrated pick so far considering Brooklynn’s betrayal was the last scene s2 left us off on
It’s worth mentioning this is not the first time the group has faced one of their own picking the wrong side and I, personally, cannot WAIT to see how that may influence everyone’s individual reactions

Well, as you have mentioned, I am most excited for Samji this season (very happy to see another platonic Samji stan)!!
But if I had to say, the second thing I am most excited to see in CT S3 is the continuation of the relationships between each of the campers (and other characters). The show has always been good at exploring different dynamics within the group and so I am so excited to see where they go with it this time.
In terms of predictions however, I think that this is the season Brooklynn re-joins the side of the campers. I don't know how she will do it or how the other campers will react, but I think this will be the climax of the season, and it will end with her finding her way back to them and vice versa. If this happens I am gonna cry buckets.
P. S. I also can't wait to see Speckles. And last year, when Chaos Theory was first announced at a Toy Fayre, they mentioned what this new baby anky would look like... 🤫
A risky prediction, though not entirely unsupported!! Brooklynn’s alignment really will be a key detail this season no matter what direction they go with it, though surely we can all hope you’re right!
And wow, WOW folks, this is why we conduct these segments - Anny are you to say you may have the insider scoop on bumpy’s baby? From Toy Faire, you say? [audible commotion from backstage] We’ll be right on that
The intergroup dynamics really are a spotlight of this series, have been since Camp Cretaceous. The new problems the group will face this season are sure to give us some amazing exposition and interactions, but again! Only time will tell

i am definitely most excited to see the girls. mostly yasammy, of course.
i’ve been hearing some concerns regarding them this season but if those two can survive a dinosaur-infested island—TWICE—i’m sure they can overcome any sort of rocky road in their relationship. with some. ahem. proper communication.
but i’m also very much excited to get to meet gia, ben’s famous girlfriend, and for more lab partners, and AND the return of the handler. a whole season without! like HELL. YES. seeing her and soyona interact for the first time?? a dynamic ive been dying for on screen.
can it be thursday already?
i MUST know how far brooklynn will go with the path she has chosen.
An ever present list for us all! Yasammy hardships have been discussed to multiple effects by previous interviewees and I’m sure the viewers here have their own theories but may I remind you, Yaz has actually finally seeked therapy. Coping skills are a much higher stat here than before and the way it influences the game will SURELY be notable
Hope for our girls really must not be lost, though we’re never free from the possibility of harsher drama as season 4 WAS confirmed! Room to play with their relationship status has never been more available and tensions are undeniably high

I think what I'm really excited about is to see what will be, to the camp fam, the long term effects of discovering Brooklyn is alive. How they are feeling about it? Happiness? Anger? I need more details.
And about Ben? Is he blaming himself for hiding the truth from his friends? Are his friends truly mad at him?
Also, what about Darius? He has been blaming himself for Brooklyn's death for ages, he must have so much mixed feelings right now.
And if you allow me to add one more thing, I'm also excited to see how Darius, specifically, will deal with Ben having hidden this secret about Brooklyn from him. I know there is the possibility of Darius having immediately forgiven him, but come on, THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE COOLEST DRAMATIC SCENES!
All amazing points!! Darius’s survivors guilt now that he isn’t the only survivor really will be fascinating to see, I’m glad you bring it up!
And they DO always have the best drama between them, you’re right that it’s gotta be good. Immediate forgiveness does seem just a little too easy, though I do bet Darius may still try! The guy has a horrible track record

Oh man that’s a bit of a tough one, but I think what i’m really hoping for is more scenes of the Handler (of course) and Soyona. Them interacting would be even better, but together or apart I don’t really care I just want to see them again.
Also I can’t wait to see the handler bond with her raptors more (hopefully).
Brilliant response and I’ve gotta agree with you there, the human-dino bond has so much potential especially with these guys!! Raptors are already shown to be highly intelligent in this series, so their dynamic may be more complex than say Ben and Bumpy’s
Not to mention the Unknown factor! She’s so lizardish and they’re so humanoid, something uncanny is going on there I say

If I can only say one thing I'm excited to see in season 3 must be to see what direction the yasammy relationship is going! We know their relationship has always been like a rollercoaster, even though we all know their love is as strong as it can be! I'm very excited to see what's going to happen between them this season.
If I may add another thing, then I'm very excited to see how each camper's gonna cope with Brooklynn's rejection!
Both great choices, I like your priorities!! Hammering in how season two really did leave us with so many questions that may finally be answered
The many different attitudes held regarding where the yasammy plot line may go is truly a broad spectrum, It’s nice to see some still optimistic! Remember everybody, leaks are without context and anyone can claim anything about what a screencap means when no one else has seen it yet
