random stuff

@l3ominor

I'm mostly here for the memes, but I'll post some of my art every now and then pronouns: She/Her, Aroace, ♦️, nickname is L3o(pronounced Leo), all people are welcome here! Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints

Heyo! L3Ominor here!

I'm a multimedia artist (been drawing for a little over 13 years), self taught, and happy to share my art with the world! I write books, mostly of the epic fantasy kind, and have several projects in progress. I'm hoping to publish soon! (Will update when it happens.) If anyone is interested in hearing more about my stories and OCs, feel free to shoot me an ask!

Some of my favorite things to do is listen to music, draw, write(both with friends and by myself), practice my aerial silks skills, and read!

Overall, I'm a ADHD homeschooler with a brain the size of a galaxy and no way to control it!

Link to my second blog: Recalled

Recalled is a Legend of Zelda linksmeet AU I'm putting together, so feel free to check it out! it's a comic that I update probably once a month, as well as do lots of sketches/art for, and I've really enjoyed the process of setting it up so far!

I also have a Ko-fi here if you'd like to donate to help support me and the comic! I also offer commissions, so feel free to take a look if you're interested!

Both blogs are safe spaces for all people! Judgement, hate, and disrespect are not welcome! We're all friends, we're all people, we can all treat each other with love and respect. Stay safe my friends!

more on this page:

I think a lot about how we as a culture have turned “forever” into the only acceptable definition of success.

Like… if you open a coffee shop and run it for a while and it makes you happy but then stuff gets too expensive and stressful and you want to do something else so you close it, it’s a “failed” business. If you write a book or two, then decide that you don’t actually want to keep doing that, you’re a “failed” writer. If you marry someone, and that marriage is good for a while, and then stops working and you get divorced, it’s a “failed” marriage.

The only acceptable “win condition” is “you keep doing that thing forever”. A friendship that lasts for a few years but then its time is done and you move on is considered less valuable or not a “real” friendship. A hobby that you do for a while and then are done with is a “phase” - or, alternatively, a “pity” that you don’t do that thing any more. A fandom is “dying” because people have had a lot of fun with it but are now moving on to other things.

I just think that something can be good, and also end, and that thing was still good. And it’s okay to be sad that it ended, too. But the idea that anything that ends is automatically less than this hypothetical eternal state of success… I don’t think that’s doing us any good at all.

the way a leftist talks abt the arts tells me all i need to know abt their politics tbh.

“artists who want to get paid for their work are petite-bourgeoisie fascists” and it’s a disabled person living in poverty who sells beautiful paintings of people’s deceased pets to pay for groceries.

“everyone is an artist, to make art is human” but not everyone spends years of their lives dedicated to a particular kind of art. i’ve seen this bullshit like of thinking my entire fucking life as a professional musician and it drives me insane bc it’s just another iteration of “oh you have a god given talent.” sure the stars aligned to give me skills that bundle well to make me an excellent musician. but i had to hone those skills for years. that’s why i am so fucking good at what i do now. if communism won tomorrow, you would still have to actually fucking practice to learn how to play the guitar, and you would have to dedicate a LOT of time and energy to that practice if you want to play shit that’s really cool and difficult. respect artists and performers.

u survive literally every single event in your life & still every time a new event happens you feel like this is the event that will kill you and that you will never move on from but actually you will continue to survive like you always have bc u have a 100% win rate of surviving events. btw

art will save you, being unreasonably passionate about something niche will save you, letting past sources of joy show you the way back to yourself will save you, earnestness over composure will save you, the natural world will save you, caring for something bigger than yourself will save you, daring to be seen will save you, kindness not as a whim but a principle will save you, appreciation as a practice will save you, daring to try something new will save you, grounding will save you, love will save you, one good nights sleep will save you

The three last of the series ! 🎉

Wind :

Warriors :

Wild :

This was a big project with a bunch of different styles, few words and a lot of headcanons in the subtext.

I am very happy to know that it is appreciated 💕

(the amount of people saying that they died seeing it concerns me a little)

<Second part | Third part

I just want you all to know, that if and when this site does experience a real exodus and/or get sunsetted for good, even if we don't keep in touch I'll remember you so fondly. You're the online equivalent of the other kid on the beach where we built sandcastles together; the girl at the campsite where we explored the trees. You're the drunk person who shared kind words in the bathroom at the club, you're the talented artists at the life drawing class or the poetry night in a city where I don't live anymore. It makes me sad that maybe in the future our paths won't cross so easily, but even when we leave this little shared piece of cyberspace, carried away on our briefly intersecting trajectories, just know I still love you

please god stop talking about diets and weight loss in front of kids. especially if those kids are girls. and especially if you’re someone those kids look up to. but really just stop talking about about diets and weight loss when children are in earshot at all. I promise you you’re doing far more harm than good.

I've noticed more and more in public bathrooms that people skip the handwash and just take a squirt of hand sanitizer from wall dispensers on the way out. hand sanitizer is NOT effective against most things that come out of your ass. i cannot stress this enough. i'm begging y'all. please. please please please please please use the soap.

i'm out here immunosupressed fighting for my life to not get naturally selected while people around me touch a public toilet handles and walk back to their tables to immediately eat a burger

Thank you for bringing this up! Many hand sanitizers and household cleaners proudly claim to "Kill 99.99% of germs."

In fact, this does not mean that the product kills 99.99% of all germs known to exist.

It means that, during product testing in a controlled environment, the product killed 99.99% of the germs it was specifically tested against. As you might imagine, Lysol isn't testing its kitchen disinfectant spray against millions and millions of unique microbes.

In the U.S., labeling laws usually require that companies actually identify somewhere else on the label which germs are being tested and killed. Next time you see a "kills 99.99% of germs" label, check out the rest of the label, and you'll find the small print which specifies that it kills 99.9% of one type of flu, or Covid, or E. Coli, etc. This is why many labels even include an asterisk, i.e.: "Kills 99.99% of Germs!*" Look for the companion asterisk elsewhere on the label for more info.

There are different kinds of germs, like Viruses; Bacteria, Fungi, and Protozoans.

The way we kill these germs to prevent infections varies based on the germs' structure. Essentially, we need different "weapons" (cleaning methods) to fight different microbes. A product that kills Flu Viruses and E. Coli can't necessarily destroy Norovirus or Giardia.

No product is effective against every type of germ, even common germs which regularly cause illness in households and communities.

Hand washing is effective against more germs, not only because it can destroy germs which hand sanitizer cannot, but because it simply washes them off your hands.

Also, some stuff that makes other people sick *isn't germs*. I never bother with hand sanitizer (vs hand-washing), because a major contaminant I have to contend with in daily life is WHEAT.

That's not a germ, it's a protein (gluten). Hand sanitizer will do fuck-all, because that shit is *still on your hands*.

Hand-washing will always and forever be far superior to hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer *is* better than not doing anything!! But it's not doing as much as you could be doing.
