Welcome Friends

Call me Zephos, I'm 28 years old, new eclectic pagan practitioner on the path, finding my way. My largest leans are Kemetic Paganism, Lokean, Hellenic Paganism, and Heathenry.

My witchcraft leans toward Kitchen Witchery, Ancestor Work, Folk Magic, and devotions to the Gods.

May you find a compassionate ear, a kind heart, joyful words and happiness here on my blog. Blessings to you all! ♊️☀️♏️🌕♌️⭐️

being obsessed with your god’s domain before you started worshipping is so reassuring…

like what do you mean you’ve been here the whole time? that you’ve always been a part of me lying in wait? that you, the divine, has innervated & enriched my life long before i acknowledged you were divine? SICK!!!

A caveat to this study: the researchers were primarily looking at insect pollinator biodiversity. Planting a few native wildflowers in your garden will not suddenly cause unusual megafauna from the surrounding hinterlands to crowd onto your porch.

That being said, this study backs up Douglas Tallamy's optimistic vision of Homegrown National Park, which calls for people in communities of all sizes to dedicate some of their yard (or porch or balcony) to native plants. This creates a patchwork of microhabitats that can support more mobile insect life and other small beings, which is particularly crucial in areas where habitat fragmentation is severe. This patchwork can create migration corridors, at least for smaller, very mobile species, between larger areas of habitat that were previously cut off from each other.

It may not seem like much to have a few pots of native flowers on your tiny little balcony compared to someone who can rewild acres of land, but it makes more of a difference than you may realize. You may just be creating a place where a pollinating insect flying by can get some nectar, or lay her eggs. Moreover, by planting native species you're showing your neighbors these plants can be just as beautiful as non-native ornamentals, and they may follow suit.

In a time when habitat loss is the single biggest cause of species endangerment and extinction, every bit of native habitat restored makes a difference.

Keep talking about Luigi.

Bifröst! Current weaving on my inkle loom! I'll be donating this one to the National Nodric Museums annual Northern lights auction in a month. Inspired by the famous rainbow bridge from Norse mythology.

I'm using the baltic pick up technique for the pattern but I'm using a much thicker worsted weight yarn because that's what I have from weaving criossanna which use a thicker yarn than is generally used in the nordic regions.

Medusa served so much cunt in older depictions with artists getting creative on her monstrosity yet ppl nowadays are so stuck up on depicting Medusa as a generic pretty snake lady that we are limiting ourselves from making unique and terrifying character designs.

Truly a Greek gorgon vs Roman sa victim moment

Does anyone ever feel like they're worshipping wrong?? Like I see people with their cool alters with statues and flowers and roses and massive crystals & candles. They do these long prayers and say hymns for the gods they worship.

And then I look at mine and it's silly anime-like drawings I've done of the gods + bead bracelets & prayer beads. Yeah I have stuff like tarot cards and crystals and some candles but it just not as professional. I don't do any rituals before I offer them stuff, I just kinda say "hey, this is for you, hope you like it" and I don't do proper prayers, I just talk to them normally.

Am I doing this shit wrong???

It sounds to me like you're doing things exactly right. Allow me to rephrase some things you said:

"And then I look at mine and it's silly anime-like drawings I've done of the gods +" You've taken time and focus and visual beauty and dedicated them to the gods you love. ""bead bracelets & prayer beads." You love the gods so much you either crafted or purchased items that remind you of them, and can remind you to offer them prayers or that you can talk to them anywhere you go. "Yeah I have stuff like tarot cards and crystals and some candles but it just not as professional." You decorate your space in a way you feel both connects you to the gods and honors them. "Professionals" typically have the exact same kinds of decor, in my experience. "I don't do any rituals before I offer them stuff, I just kinda say "hey, this is for you, hope you like it" and I don't do proper prayers," You're making offerings after praying to them. Think about how simple/short/basic many prayers across different faiths can be. "Dear lord thank you for this meal, amen," seems to suit many Christians just fine, for example! "I just talk to them normally." Perfect! So many heathens do this. We may feel the gods everywhere, not just at altars. These are our loved ones who are with us our whole lives (and beyond) so it makes total sense you'd begin to speak with some in a more familiar way. Some gods invite that relationship more actively, and maybe others don't, but it's my experience it actually brings us closer to have both an informal and formal mode of address. (That way, when things are more formal, it stands out a bit more.)

You're doing a lot! x0x
