Nesta had been beautiful as a human woman. As High Fae, she was devastating.

Continuing to explore the Archerons pre- and post-transformation into Fae, this time with Nesta. I like to think her eyes lost some of those icy blue hues in favor of silver. Also my hot take (forgive me) is that I don't vibe with the intricate braided updo: she hates being Fae at the start, she has no time to look that put-together. Idk I just think beautiful women should be allowed to go feral and burn the world down a little

The Lady of Autumn is next 🍂 I am committed to drawing more women.

Side note: Because I like to hurt my own feelings, I made her look the most like Marcel, her third son and coincidentally, the most cruel of the Vanserra brothers. I just think there’s something so [screaming and gunshots ensue] about the son with the most twisted and terrifying nature taking after the gentle, kind-hearted mother. While Marcel enjoys the resemblance — the false sense of security it offers his victims — the Lady of Autumn can no longer look in the mirror without being reminded of the cruelty reflected in her own son’s face.

At the risk of twilightifying the Archerons, I do love the concept of immortal beauty in the case of Elain. She was already bringing kings to their knees as a human, but as Fae, she is otherworldly. Ethereal. It’s a beauty she never asked for, a beauty obtained through the most traumatizing event of her life. How can she look in the mirror and love what she’s gained, when her new face reminds her of all that she’s lost?

"I did it for you" has gotta be my favorite form of betrayal. You gave me a gift I never asked for, and now I have to look around at the world you destroyed with the knowledge that it was gift wrapped and addressed to me.

final one! elain and nuan for @sjmprideweek - this was a really half-baked idea i had around elain week last year. there's barely even a story, just the vague thought that instead of being lucien's ex-lover, nuan could be the hot autistic lesbian to his mean adhd bisexual. and maybe when elain tries to find her way and travels to dawn to learn more about the healing powers of the plants that grow there, nuan is very interested both in teaching her about the world of plant magic and also about the wonders of sapphic relationships.
