No one hates the tme/tma binary more than tma people, but ignoring the existence of oppressive binaries doesn’t cause them to cease to exist. There have been so many oppressive binaries throughout human history. Some that still exist others that have been abolished. Peasant nobility, black white, Catholic Protestant, proletariat bourgeoisie, colonized colonizer, women man, tma tme.

Do you think in the struggle against any of these oppressive binaries that progress was made by ignoring them, do you think any gains in black liberation was made by ignoring the privilege of white people, that fuedalism was abolished by ignoring the privilege of the nobility, that anti imperialism has been fought by ignoring the privilege of the colonizer? These just like TMA/tme are oppressive binaries, all must be done away with, but we cannot do away with them without recognizing them. You cannot fight bigotry without recognizing privilege.

But here’s the important part that must be explained again and again and again and I truely hope if somehow someone, especially transmasc, who still rejects TMA/tme will listen to. Privilege is not a judgement of character. I do not believe every white person is racist for having white privilege, that every man is misogynistic for having male privilege, that every child born into a rich bourgeois family is the enemy of the proletariat. That every child born to a settler family is destined to perpetuate imperialism.

If you want to end the oppressive binary you must recognize it. If you truely hate the TMA/tme binary then fight with transfeminism, because no one hates that binary more than a transfem.

throughout history, the wealthy and powerful tend to create a set of rules for themselves to follow- european gentry, for example, developed specific rules for speech, dress, eating, manners, etc etc. and to some extent these rules did restrain them, but at the same time, it gave them power- by following these rules, you show your status as someone with power, both to other powerful people, and to those of lower class. certainly there were nobles who chafed under these rules, but the vast majority of them, consciously or subconsciously, accept them as the price for power, even enjoyed performing them as a status symbol. it would be ridiculous to say that the nobility was oppressed by feudialism- they wielded incredible power and freedom to use that power to hurt others, even if they had to play by a handful of rules to do so.
