yeah the joke is funny but it’s actually really sad that people who are struggling can’t be candid about experiencing suicidality without threat of incarceration. and that the role β€˜mental health’ professionals play in enforcing state policy is so normalised that everyone in these comments finds it funny. what kind of fucked up system insists that those deemed mentally ill must be subjected to therapy and then can’t even allow those trying to glean whatever small benefits are possible, to be genuine and talk about their real feelings?

also what’s particularly horrible is the self confessed therapist saying that β€˜y’all ain’t slick’ as if incarcerating people and subjecting them to state violence is funny. fucking man…

what is the context of this?

it’s a video making a joke about not telling your therapist you feel suicidal out of worry they’ll put you in a hospital

Reductress really taking no prisoners today

The best part:

β€œIt’s a common misconception that members of gay relationships have to map onto the roles of a straight couple: woman and asshole,” said Acharya. β€œBut neither of us is the asshole; that’s the entire point.”
Ryser had a number of follow-up questions to this explanation.
β€œSo, if neither of you is the asshole,” said Ryser, β€œthen who plays devil’s advocate when you’re having sensitive political conversations? Who takes the other person’s side when you describe a microaggression? And who gets furious when you’re driving and one of you has to pee?”
Demonstrating immense patience, Acharya tried once more to help Ryser understand.
β€œNone of those things are necessary for a relationship,” said Acharya. β€œIn fact, they’re all bad. People in straight relationships should not do those things either.”
