Your blog is glorious! Wonderful! Do you ever read more than one book on the go?

Thank you so much! And yeees I do!! 💕

Literature themed playlist!!

Hi everyone! I know I haven't been active on here for months (been coming back from time to time to answer as much of your messages as I can tho) but I do have been a lot more active on my bookstagram (@writingboutthebookiread) lately.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this literature themed spotify playlist I made with you guys. There's a little bit of everything thing in there: songs about (a work of) literature, about authors, songs with literary references, songs about writing... a little bit of everything really. To listen on your study break or when you need motivation or even for when you're scrolling through tumblr.

Hope you enjoy!!!

(Also, feel free to send me more song recommendations if you'd like)

do you annotate books that aren’t for study/classes?

yeeeees!

I really love your blog. I am writing my bachelor thesis, too and you really motivate me to keep going 🤗

Thanks! One of the things I love the most about this whole community is that we're all able to motivate and inspire each other. Best of luck with your bachelor thesis!! 😊

Do you go to coffee shops alone? I would like to go study or read in coffee shops alone but I somehow feel weird

Yeeees I do! I used to be really uncomfortable with doing things by myself but luckily I got over that. Just try it, there's nothing weird about it imo! xxxx

Hi, love your blog so much!! Can you please tell what is your type by Mayer-Briggs test?

Thanks! My type is INFJ :))

huh that seemingly unpleasant task only ended up taking eight minutes to complete and was surprisingly satisfying, I may have erred in putting it off for two weeks.

Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray (Chapter 17)

I'm pretty sure I said the exact same thing last year and the year before but since last semester was so very busy, I didn't really post anything on here. I've also been using bookstagram more often so there's another reason. Anyway, my last exam was two weeks ago already which means I'm officially done with my third bachelor at uni (unless I have resit exams but less all cross our fingers I won't.)

You might be able to see some pictures from last semester pop by the following days AND maybe even some new pics since I received the opportunity to do a student internship this summer! I'll be working on the digitalisation of Middle Dutch manuscripts!!!! I'm very excited for it and all of the other good things to come this summer. I'll keep you updated!

"We do treat books surprisingly lightly in contemporary culture. We'd never expect to understand a piece of music on one listen, but we tend to believe we've read a book after reading it just once. [...] Books need time to dawn on us, it takes time to understand what makes them, structurally, in thematic resonance, in afterthought, and always in correspondence with the books which came before them, because books are produced by books more than by writers; they're a result of all the books that went before them. Great books are adaptable; they alter in life, they renew themselves as we change and re-read them at different times in our lives." - Ali Smith, Artful

I’ve been scrolling through your blog off and on for hours today and I must say that your’s is the first studyblr that I actually have enjoyed so thoroughly. I like studyblrs but sometimes they make me feel stupid, but yours feels... classy and warm. Idk. Idk why I wrote this lol

thank you soooo much! you honestly made my day <3

Anonymous asked:

when you read a book for fun (not for college/classes) do you annotate or tab it?

yes! What I mainly do is underline sentences that struck me, quotes I want to remember, passages that might come in handy in the future (like for writing papers etc.), passages I’ll want to reread when quickly flipping through the book later, interesting concepts and little facts, things I’ll want to think about more thoroughly some other time,…

Anonymous asked:

hi, I’m just curious on what notes you take while reading?

I have some separate notebooks in which I 1) write some beautiful quotes or passages that I loved or really touched me 2) write some interesting concepts (mostly when reading non fiction) that I’ll want to look up more on later or that I just found very interesting 3) write some thoughts that came to mind whilst reading (that third point is something I mostly do in the margins of the book itself tho)
