Lights Out

Lini, 32, she/her | my art -> LINIPIK.TUMBLR.COM | Storyboard artist working in animation and storytelling enthusiast | Excuse the typos, I'm probably just dyslexic.

it’s kind of weird how we’re culturally not supposed to admit that we do things for money and/or attention. Like I’m not going to work because i’m a team player or because I care about the company mission, I’m going so I can pay rent and buy food. I’m not publishing my fanfic because I’m passionate about writing or because I only care about art in its purest form, I’m publishing it because I want attention. If I didn’t want attention, I’d leave it on my hard drive. Really, why are we supposed to pretend to have “better” motivations?

like to be clear I am passionate about writing and I want to be a good writer, but when I truly just want to “write for myself” I leave it on my computer and never share it. I have plenty of things that fall into that category on my hard drive, that nobody else will ever read, but if I go through the effort to upload it somewhere? I am seeking attention and I would like it in the form of kudos, comments, and reblogs thank you

There’s certain hobbies and interests that aren’t inherently conservative or regressive but do attract a lot of people who are those things or worse and when you’re a progressive person involved in those hobbies hearing that someone else is interested in your hobby usually has to involve some “But are you normal about it?” conversations before you get too excited

Someone: I think the Vikings are really cool. I like Viking metal and stuff like that.

Me: *threateningly holds up plastic fork* Answer me quickly. Do you have normal opinions about immigrants?

age of sail/napoleonics, allotment/food gardening, keeping chickens, golden age detective fiction, Celtic languages, Waldorf/steiner-montessori parenting - not even touching on permaculture; do not touch on permaculture - foraging and food preservation, the lord of the rings, horses -

Reptile keeping.

Dog training. Hoo boy.

Medieval history. History at all.

disaster preparation. Not Prepper. They have guns and wheat they can't grind or cook with, I have food, toilet supplies for emergencies, medicines, and a knowledge of how to make bread over a fire using flour oil and salt and a road sign- we are not the same

shit ton of people are repeating the thing about hayao miyazaki saying AI art is an "insult to life itself" and just as a reminder he was talking about the zombies that team made that were intended to be scary in how much they shook, but instead reminded him of his disabled friend. the insult to life itself was referring to the team trying to make scary real symptoms that people live with.

it was a quote about ableism. if he has said other things about AI type stuff, that is a different thing. but that specific quote was about ableism.

this is the full quote.

His actual answer to AI is this which is just a few seconds after the insult to life speech. [source]

if you're in the throes of cosmic despair i cannot recommend museums enough. art or science or history it doesn't matter. oh we're all connected, all of us and everything, throughout all time and space, and no one, no one, no one is alone? awesome. that's what i thought i just wanted to make sure.

do you ever watch 3 episodes of a series that is so mid that reminds you of your own mediocre brainrot series?

Bunch of space adventures, old school characters, and a plot that seems good except it is so poorly developed it makes you cry?

Andromeda has the most convoluted and sad script it reminds me of my dear vld, en paz descancen.

earlier this week Twitter user ppuccin0 tweeted about a fashion article that advised against tops with large floral patterns, saying the wearer was in danger of looking like a "ロマンティックおばさん," or a "romantic auntie." the tweet went viral with many agreeing that a "romantic auntie" sounded like a very nice thing to aspire to be, and some even posted illustrations or photos tagged with the trend
